Liverpool confirm new arrival

Liverpool have confirmed an exciting new arrival at the club from Manchester United. In the last decade or so, there's been a drastic change in fortunes between the two clubs. Manchester United were once regarded as England's greatest ever club side. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! However, Ferguson left the Red Devils behind, and shortly after Jurgen Klopp arrived at Anfield to do what Ferguson had done to the Reds - knock United off their perch. In the subsequent decade, Liverpool have now equalled United's record 20 titles, and have a good chance of getting another one next season. Meanwhile, United were flirting with relegation last season and still look very far away from securing a league title again for the first time in over 10 years. It's now Liverpool who sit at the pinnacle of English football, just as it's always ought to be. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range from 9am TODAY Now moves between United and Liverpool are still rare. Even at academy level, we barely see players and coaches making the move from one club to another. More recently, Ethan Ennis was a rare exception after he moved from Liverpool to United in a move that only time will tell whether it was the right one. Now, it's Liverpool who have made a move for a United man. The Reds confirmed the appointment of Simon Wiles, who had been working at United for close to a year. Wiles now becomes Liverpool's U18 head coach, replacing the the now departed Marc Bridge-Wilkinson. A renowned young coach, Wiles had been working at United's academy at U16 level prior to this move. He'd also been involved at first team level as a coach at Salford City, and therefore has experience in senior football as well. It's interesting to note that Wiles will have worked with Will Wright, who has joined the Reds from Salford this summer and who is very highly regarded having made his debut as a 16-year-old for Salford's first team in the FA Cup last season. It remains to be seen whether Wiles will work with Wright. The expectation is more that Wright will be with the U21s, considering he already has experience at senior level, but like Rio Ngumoha last season, there may be a few times when Wright will be needed at U18 level. Nonetheless, back to Wiles, this is an exciting and refreshing appointment. Liverpool have taken their time to make sure they get the right man in for the job, and it's going to be exciting to see how Wiles works with the likes of Joshua Abe, Erik Farkas, Josh Sonni-Lambie and many other young talented players in the U16 and U18 age-groups, who are likely to be playing for the U18s this season.

Newcastle United submit €80 million offer for Benjamin Sesko

Newcastle United have submitted an offer of €80 million to RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko, according to Sky Sports. Manchester United were initially the favourites to sign Sesko, but Newcastle's intensified efforts over the last few days have tilted the balance in their favour. Sesko is reportedly now keen on a move to St James' Park, attracted by Newcastle's burgeoning status, Champions League football and a key role in the team's attacking strategy under manager Eddie Howe. Newcastle are working to finalise a deal with Leipzig and have tabled a bid worth an initial €75 million plus €5m in add-ons. This would smash the existing club-record €70m fee that Newcastle paid for Alexander Isak three years ago. Leipzig are aiming for a guaranteed €75m to sanction Sesko's sale just 12 months after he signed a new five-year deal at the Red Bull Arena last summer. Several Premier League clubs have courted Sesko since then and could finally be set for a move to English football. Despite Newcastle's progress on the Sesko front over the last couple of hours, ManUnited are not giving up and remain in contact with the player's camp. They will need to act fast as Leipzig want a quick resolution regarding Sesko's future. Leipzig are interested in Rasmus Hojlund and could be open to a player-plus-cash deal. However, he is keen to remain at Old Trafford, meaning United will likely have to match Newcastle's bid.

Eddie Howe opens up on ‘complex' Alexander Isak transfer saga

Eddie Howe says he is not sure what will happen next after confirming that Newcastle United rejected a transfer bid for Alexander Isak from Liverpool. The Reds reportedly tabled an offer worth at least £110 million for the Sweden international this week as they made their interest official. It has since been reported that Liverpool do not intend on making another bid for Isak following Newcastle's emphatic and swift response to their approach. The 25-year-old has not joined the squad on their pre-season tour of Asia and is training alone at former club Real Sociedad's facilities after informing the Magpies he wishes to explore his options in the transfer market. The club have claimed that he did not travel due to a 'minor thigh injury'. Eddie Howe opens up on 'difficult' Alexander Isak transfer saga 'From my situation I am very much removed from what was happening back home,' said Howe in a press conference. 'I was made aware of a bid yesterday and that bid was turned down all before I even heard about it. People back in England are dealing with the situation. 'I really don't know what happens next. From our perspective, we still support Alex in every way, and my wish is that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again. 'It is difficult because you don't know what is going to happen. There can be all sorts of talk and hypothetical situations but then you are dealing with reality. 'The reality is we had the first bid from Liverpool yesterday. I believe that was turned down, from this point onwards let's see what happens. 'I have no idea to try to predict that. In terms of trying to upset players, from my perspective, we can only talk about us, we try to do things the right way, signing players is always complex, we just try to do what we think is right. 'I can't talk about other clubs, that is not for me to say.' Howe also revealed that he only learned about Isak's whereabouts through the media and not from the player himself. 'I know where he is now, through the media,' he said. 'So I think from that perspective, it is difficult to go into any type of detail.'
