KwaZulu-Natal weather: High-level cloud and warm temperatures
According to the South African Weather Service, KwaZulu-Natal will experience a mix of cool to warm temperatures this week, accompanied by high-level clouds and chilly nights. 'Pietermaritzburg is expected to have daytime temperatures recovering to a mild 24°C,' said Phemelo Zonke. Durban and the coastal regions will experience slightly warmer conditions. 'We expect Port Shepstone to peak at 26°C, and Richards Bay will also remain warm,' Zonke noted. The province will largely escape the strong winds forecast for the Northern Cape and Western Cape. However, the cooler nights across the interior could still challenge early commuters and the elderly. 'The cool conditions inland contrast with the relatively warm coastal zones. Ulundi is expected to reach 28°C, while areas like Kokstad will remain cooler,' said Zonke. Despite the variation, no weather warnings have been issued for KwaZulu-Natal. Zonke confirmed the continuation of high-level clouds across the province. 'We will see periods of high-level cloud, especially inland, but they will not bring any rain,' she said. This cloud cover may slightly limit daytime warmth in some areas, but overall, the province remains in a stable weather pattern with no immediate threats of severe weather. Gauteng will experience mild weather conditions
Residents across Gauteng should prepare for a crisp start to the week as daytime highs are expected to remain mild. The South African Weather Service has forecast cool to warm conditions for most parts of the province. 'We are expecting fairly mild conditions, with a high of 20°C in Johannesburg and 22°C in Pretoria,' said Phemelo Zonke. While Gauteng residents will not experience severe weather alerts, Zonke warned that strong winds affecting other parts of the country may impact travel routes passing through central regions. 'A yellow level 1 warning has been issued for damaging interior winds through the central regions of the Northern Cape into the northeastern parts. This could lead to difficult driving conditions and possible disruption to structures,' she said. Although Gauteng is not directly affected, residents planning to travel over the next few days, primarily through connecting routes, should remain cautious. Forecasters also predict that high-level cloud will linger over parts of the province, contributing to cooler mornings and evenings. 'There will be some high-level cloud from time to time, but overall we're looking at stable and mild weather over Gauteng,' Zonke said. With temperatures in nearby regions such as Limpopo peaking at 27°C in Phalaborwa and 25°C in Lephalale, Gauteng sits comfortably within the cool to warm range expected during this transitional period.
