Centre committed to development of railway infra in TG: Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad: Union Minister Kishan Reddy expressed pride in announcing that only women employees will be serving at the newly renovated Begumpet Railway Station, which has been transformed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Speaking ahead of the virtual inauguration of the station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, he highlighted that this occasion coincides with the 300th birth anniversary of Rajmata Ahilyabai. He said that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the railway system across the country is rapidly developing. Currently, 1,300 railway stations have been undergoing development simultaneously in India, an unprecedented feat.
'In Telangana, 40 railway stations are also being developed concurrently. By 2026, these stations will be designed to reflect the local culture and heritage. The Secunderabad Railway Station is receiving an investment of Rs 720 crore for its development. Additionally, the Central Government has allocated Rs. 100 crore for the development of Nampally (Hyderabad) Railway Station, with a total allocation of Rs 350 crore.
'We anticipate reopening these two stations next year. In Telangana, Rs 5,337 crore is being invested in railway development, with ongoing works amounting to Rs 42,219 crore.'
Prime Minister Modi has also sanctioned the construction of Komuravelli Railway Station, with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performing the ground-breaking ceremony. This station will be dedicated to the devotees of Komuravelli Mallanna during this year's Dussehra festival.
Kishan Reddy noted that there had been a delay of 6 to 7 years in the MMTS Phase-2 project due to the previous government's negligence. Despite the lack of support from the state government, the construction of MMTS Phase-2 has commenced under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, with an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore.
Work for MMTS has also been sanctioned for Yadagirigutta, which will commence soon with Rs 400 crore allocated. The Central Government is introducing 'Kavach' technology across 617 km in Telangana as a pilot project to prevent railway accidents. 'Up to now, 121 unmanned level crossings have been removed, and 203 new road under bridges, 43 railway over bridges (ROBs), and 45-foot over bridges have been constructed.'
Kishan Reddy, without naming the BRS executive president, and former Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao, contended that the former minister criticises development projects on Twitter, and urged him to understand the facts.
Additionally, high-speed WiFi has been set up at 174 stations, along with 88 stalls. Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for a railway manufacturing unit in Kazipet, with an investment of Rs 580 crore.

No BAS and RTE admissions in our schools: Private managements
Hyderabad: Are growing financial concerns pushing the education sector in the state into chaos? The situation indicates that the State government is facing scrutiny from the State High Court for failing to implement the 25 per cent reservation for underprivileged students in private schools, as mandated by Section 121 (C) of the Right to Education Act 2009. Meanwhile, private school management has expressed their inability to bear the financial burden that comes with implementing this scheme. In an interview with The Hans India, Yadagiri Sheshagiri Rao, honorary president of the Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA) and state secretary of Best Available Schools (BAS), stated that there are currently about 25,000 seats that schools must allocate to students from SC and ST categories under the BAS Scheme. However, approximately Rs 200 crore in dues have been pending for the past three years. Additionally, if the state government plans to implement the Right to Education (RTE) Act, schools may need to create around 75,000 more seats to comply with the new requirements. Under the RTE Act, the government is required to either pay the outstanding amounts for each student or cover the fees charged by private schools. For instance, if a school charges Rs 2 lakh per year in fees, the government would reimburse only about Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh for each admission under the RTE Act. This means the school would have to forgo between Rs 50,000 to Rs 90,000 for each student. Conversely, schools that charge only Rs 50,000 per student per year would receive the full amount from the government, rather than the lesser amount they spend on students in government schools. The state secretary of the private school association stated that the total seat capacity that private schools are required to offer the government under both the BAS and RTE Acts is around one lakh seats. However, the state government has yet to address the Rs 200 crore in BAS dues from the past three years. Additionally, it reportedly owes about Rs 600 crore for the rentals of residential schools currently operating. Private unaided colleges have also been agitating for the recovery of approximately Rs 7,500 crore in fee reimbursement dues accumulated over the past few years. This situation has led school management to fear and express their inability to continue admitting students under either the BAS or RTE programs. 'Many schools are facing closure due to mounting debts resulting from the government's non-payment of dues. Small, budget schools in local neighborhoods are particularly affected. They can no longer stretch their finances or raise loans to keep operating,' added Sheshagiri Rao. There are approximately 200 BAS schools in the state that have decided not to admit students until their pending dues are cleared. If necessary, they may close their doors and hand over the keys to the school education department to manage the schools themselves. When asked about the current situation, sources in the State School Education Department indicated that the state government is considering starting international schools in every mandal to provide quality education for all. However, this raises a valid concern: the state government is currently struggling to clear about Rs 8,000 crore in dues for both schools and colleges. Given this financial burden, how many years will it take to build and operate these international schools to ensure quality education for everyone remains a million-dollar question.

Indiramma houses for urban poor with G+3 model: Ponguleti
Hyderabad: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Friday said that the government would take up construction of Indiramma Houses in the urban areas of the state with G+3 floors without affecting their livelihood. The Housing Minister had a review meeting with the officials on Friday. The Minister said that with the aim of fulfilling the dream of the poor to have their own house, the state government has launched the construction of Indiramma Houses which has almost ended in the rural areas. He said that the focus now has been shifted on the construction of Indiramma Houses in urban areas as well. The Minister said that he poor living in the slums of the cities prefer to stay there, as they were not interested in houses, especially if they are built far from Hyderabad, as it would affect their livelihood. In the past, 42,000 houses were built far from Hyderabad, but only about 19,000 people moved there. He said that a recent field survey revealed that only 13,000 people were living in those houses. Taking all these factors into consideration, it has been decided to construct Indiramma Indlu in urban areas, mainly in the slums of Hyderabad city, where the poor are present, using the G+3 method. As part of this, 16 slums were identified in Hyderabad in the first phase. He said that work was being done to implement the same system in other cities like Warangal, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Karimnagar. Srinivasa Reddy said that for the tribals who have been without shelter for years, 13,266 Indiramma houses were sanctioned to Chenchu, Kolam, Thoti and Kondared in the four ITDA areas of Bhadrachalam, Utnoor, Eturunagaram and Munnanur. He also said that 8,750 houses were already sanctioned to the 16 ST constituencies in the state. With this, 22,016 Indiramma houses were sanctioned to the tribals so far. The Minister directed the officials to take steps to immediately identify the beneficiaries of these houses and start the construction. He asked the officials to continuously monitor the construction of houses in line with the government's goal of being more proactive in sanctioning and constructing Indiramma houses. He said that no state government in the country has spent Rs 5 lakh for the houses of the poor, and that the goal of this government was to construct and provide Indiramma houses to every eligible person in the state as promised in the elections, and the authorities should work accordingly.

Harish raps Uttam for misleading people on key irrigation projects
Hyderabad: Over the alleged failure to protect Telangana's water interests and favouring Andhra Pradesh, BRS senior leader T Harish Rao on Friday said that while Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was the brand ambassador of lies, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy surpassed even the CM. Harish Rao accused them of failing to protect Telangana's water interests while favouring Andhra Pradesh while addressing a press conference at Dubbaka here on Friday. Harish Rao criticised Uttam Kumar Reddy for misleading the people on key irrigation projects. He alleged that the Congress government halted the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation works initiated by the previous BRS government, only to restart them later for political gains. Harish Rao mocked Uttam Kumar Reddy for meeting Andhra Pradesh's former CM Chandrababu Naidu and then remaining passive while Telangana's water rights were being compromised. He accused the Congress government of using the lowest-ever Krishna River water allocations in state history, depriving farmers in Khammam, Nalgonda, and Mahbubnagar of irrigation. Rao said that under temporary allocations, Telangana received 65 tmcft less water, leaving 6.5 lakh acres parched. Harish Rao demanded answers from Uttam Kumar Reddy, asking why he remained silent while Andhra Pradesh allegedly diverted 400 tmcft of Godavari water illegally. He slammed Uttam Kumar Reddy for failing to prepare for the Babli project despite being the Irrigation Minister. He questioned why the government had not approached the Supreme Court or pressured the Centre to stop Andhra's unauthorised projects. Rao criticised BJP leaders for not speaking up against Andhra Pradesh's alleged water theft. He warned that if the state government did not act, BRS would approach the Supreme Court. Harish Rao accused the Congress government of deceiving employees by forming multiple committees instead of fulfilling promises on Dearness Allowance (DA) and Pay Revision Commission (PRC) benefits. He demanded immediate release of pending DAs and better PRC benefits than those given under the previous BRS government. He dismissed CM Revanth Reddy's claims that Kaleshwaram was collapsing, arguing that projects like Gandhamalla, Mallannasagar, and Ranganayak Sagar depend on it. He challenged the CM to explain how water would reach Gandhamalla if Kaleshwaram was truly defunct.
