Hrithik Roshan Rejected This Film — It Became A Blockbuster Hit And Won 10 Awards
The film was Fanaa, starring Aamir Khan opposite Kajol. Their on-screen chemistry received widespread acclaim, and the storyline deeply resonated with viewers. The cast also included veteran stars such as Rishi Kapoor, Tabu, and Kirron Kher.
What makes Fanaa unique is its genre shift; it begins as a love story, but an hour in, it evolves into a gripping thriller. Aamir Khan's powerful performance was particularly praised by both critics and fans.
Interestingly, not many are aware that Hrithik Roshan was originally approached for the role that Aamir Khan eventually played. This was revealed by director Kunal Kohli during an episode of the Friday Talkies podcast.
Kunal Kohli explained that the story of Fanaa was with Aditya Chopra, and it was he who suggested Aamir Khan for the role. However, Aditya Chopra was unsure whether Aamir Khan would agree to do it. Hrithik Roshan was approached first but declined, citing similarities with his earlier film Mission Kashmir (2000).
Following this, Aamir Khan was offered the role and he immediately liked the script. He signed on, and the film went on to become a superhit.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Fanaa earned Rs 51.87 crore at the Indian box office and Rs 102.84 crore worldwide. Kajol won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role, and according to IMDb, Fanaa took home a total of 10 awards.

Son Of Sardaar 2 Week 1 India Box Office: Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's comedy collects a forgettable Rs 32 crore in 7 days
Son Of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and starring Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan and others, performed very poorly in its first week at the India box office. The Ajay Devgn movie opened to low collections because of poor show allocation and that was due to low buzz and due to holdover releases finding audience acceptance. Son Of Sardaar 2 Ends Week 1 Netting Just Rs 32 Crore In 7 Days; To Seal A Disastrous Fate After a Rs 7.25 crore net opening, that is even less than the unadjusted opening of Son Of Sardaar in pre-Diwali, the movie never really grew over the weekend. It fell flat on Monday and now, the holdover releases like Mahavatar Narsimha (Hindi) and Saiyaara are registering better collections in weekdays of their second and third weeks, respectively. The Day-Wise India Net Collections Of Son Of Sardaar 2 Are As Under Day India Net Collections 1 Rs 7.25 crore 2 Rs 8.25 crore 3 Rs 9.25 crore 4 Rs 2.25 crore 5 Rs 2.50 crore 6 Rs 1.75 crore 7 Rs 1.50 crore Total Rs 31.75 crore net in 7 days Son Of Sardaar 2 Will Incur Losses To Its Producers Due To Poor Theatrical Performance The rejection of Son Of Sardaar 2 's content is very visible to all. With this trend, even a Rs 40 crore final India net looks unlikely. The global total of the movie will end up being under Rs 60 crore gross, and that's simply shocking. A global theatrical share of around Rs 20 crore for a movie featuring an a-lister is simply unacceptable, and amends will have to be made. Ajay Devgn won't be making the money that his brand commands, with this comic caper. In other words, Son Of Sardaar 2 will result in losses for the producers and this is something that's quite uncommon in a market where a good chunk of revenue comes to producers from non-theatrical revenue sources.

Wells' iconic The War of the Worlds has crash-landed on streaming—but not quite in the way fans expected. Released by Universal Pictures on July 30, 2025, the film stars Ice Cube and Eva Longoria, and is directed by Rich Lee. Interestingly, this sci-fi thriller had wrapped up filming five years ago, only to be quietly dropped on Amazon Prime Video with no prior buzz or latest retelling follows government officer Will Radford, who is on the hunt for a rogue hacker when Earth is suddenly invaded by mysterious alien machines. These extraterrestrials aren't after humans—they're feeding on data, growing stronger by targeting data centers. The hacker, shockingly, turns out to be Radford's estranged son, who reveals that a secret government system may have lured the aliens to Earth in the first place. Father and son must race against time to shut it down and save the film's reception, however, has been nothing short of brutal. With a rare 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it has joined the ranks of the platform's most poorly reviewed films. Variety slammed it as 'disastrous,' while The Telegraph gave it a single star, calling it 'silly' and 'shoddy.'The backlash is especially sharp when compared to earlier adaptations of Wells' classic. The 1953 film, directed by Byron Haskin, remains a beloved sci-fi staple with an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score and a 7/10 rating on IMDb. Steven Spielberg's 2005 version, starring Tom Cruise, was also well-received, earning a 76% Rotten Tomatoes rating and 6.6/10 on film, the story found success in other formats too. Only 45 films have a zero score on the reviews aggregator site and War of the Worlds is one of two 2025 films to make the cut. The other one is Alarum. Empire magazine stated, "A risible attempt to modernise classic science-fiction by adding WhatsApp and political chicanery. This thin, frenetic, soulless adaptation is misguided moviemaking cubed."The critic at UK's Daily Telegraph wrote, "It is silly, shoddy and features far too much of rapper-turned-leading man Ice Cube staring at a computer screen while looking as if he's working through a reasonably urgent digestive ailment." Variety's critic added, "It's not entirely clear what to make of Ice Cube in a job like this. The rapper has two expressions: a resting scowl and nuclear overreaction, neither of which suggest the sort of individual the government would trust with the technology to eavesdrop on anyone he sees fit."
