Washington [US], April 27 (ANI): Google has rolled out significant updates to its Gmail app for mobile users across Android and iOS platforms.
Android tablet and foldable owners will benefit from a more flexible Gmail app interface.
In landscape view, users can now drag the divider to adjust the list and conversation panes to their preferred size.
Additionally, users can switch to a single-pane view by dragging the divider to one side.
Gmail on iOS has received a Material Design 3 update, bringing it in line with the Android and redesigned web versions.
The update features pill-shaped buttons at the bottom and a rounded search bar at the top.
Google Calendar on iOS now allows users to create and modify birthday events, similar to the existing functionality on Android.
Gemini's image generator is coming to the Gmail app sidebar for Workspace users on both Android and iOS.
This feature enables users to generate images within the Gmail app and save, copy, or insert them directly into email drafts. (ANI)

Air Force To Get Rs 10,000 Crore Indigenous I-STAR Spy Planes: Report
New Delhi: Amid the ongoing Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the Defence Ministry is going to take up Rs 10,000 crore proposal to buy three sophisticated spy planes to help Indian Air Force get a clear air-to-ground picture to carry out precision strikes against enemy ground targets like radar stations, air defence units and other mobile objects. The Rs 10,000 crore project for the Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (I-STAR) is expected to be taken up for clearance at a high-level defence ministry meeting scheduled to be held in the fourth week of June, defence officials told ANI. The ISTAR provides air-to-ground surveillance to the forces to help them in carrying out precision strikes. The spy aircraft project being developed by the Defence Research and Development includes the acquisition of three aircraft through an open tender from foreign manufacturers, including Boeing and Bombardier. The onboard systems on the aircraft would be completely indigenous, as the DRDO's Centre for Airborne Systems has already successfully developed them, they said. The systems have already been proven and developed by the CABS and they will just have to be integrated with the three aircraft which would be acquired and modified for the purpose, they said. The development of an ISTAR system would also add India to a select club of nations with such a capability, including the US, UK, Israel and a few others. ISTAR thus provides dynamic and time-sensitive targeting capability and contributes significantly to meeting the nation's security goals. It will aid in limiting the scale and complexity of undetected hostile threats. It has multi-spectral surveillance capability to detect, locate and monitor irregular forces. The I-STAR system shall be for carrying out intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting by day and night from stand-off ranges. The ISTAR systems are operated at high altitudes from large stand-off ranges and will be used for intelligence processing, exploitation, dissemination and generation of the common operating picture. The ISTAR aircraft will be a system comprising airborne and ground segments.

DRDO transfers technologies of nine systems to 10 industries
New Delhi [India], June 8 (ANI): In line with the government's vision to establish a robust defence industrial ecosystem with the participation of both public and private sectors, Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE), a DRDO laboratory located in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, has taken a major step forward by transferring technologies of nine systems to 10 industries. The licensing agreements were handed over in the presence of the Secretary of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, Dr Samir V Kamat, during an event organised at VRDE on June 7, according to the Ministry of Defence. VRDE also signed an MoU with COEP Technological University, Pune, to collaborate on cutting-edge technologies and emerging areas. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kamat complimented DRDO and the industry for the exceptional performance of indigenous systems during Operation Sindoor. He also suggested that the industry plan for surge capacity. He appreciated the efforts of VRDE in providing high-end technological solutions for land systems and weapon platforms. Scientist and Director General (Armament and Combat Engineering) Cluster, DRDO Prof (Dr) Prateek Kishore; Director, VRDE G Ramamohana Rao and other senior scientists were present at the occasion with industry representatives. Last month, DRDO inaugurated the Quantum Technology Research Centre (QTRC) at Metcalfe House, Delhi. The facility was inaugurated by the Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, Dr Samir V Kamat, to further strengthen Indigenous quantum capabilities for strategic and defence is equipped with state-of-the-art experimental setups designed to propel research and development in critical quantum domains. The key capabilities of this centre include Characterisation of Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers and Distributed Feedback Lasers; Test-beds for evaluating single-photon sources; Set-up for characterisation of Micro-Fabricated Alkali Vapour Cell; and Experimental platforms for developing and validating Quantum Key Distribution techniques to enable ultra-secure communication and safeguard national security in the post-quantum era, spearheaded by Scientific Analysis Group (SAG), DRDO.
