You are amazing and inspiring!" Everything you need to know about fat jabs Weight loss jabs are all the rage as studies and patient stories reveal they help people shed flab at almost unbelievable rates, as well as appearing to reduce the risk of serious diseases. Wegovy – a modified version of type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic – and Mounjaro are the leading weight loss injections used in both the US and the UK. How do they work? The jabs work by suppressing your appetite, making you eat less so your body burns fat for energy instead and you lose weight. They do this my mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which signals to the brain when the stomach is full, so the drugs are officially called GLP-1 receptor agonists. They slow down digestion and increase insulin production, lowering blood sugar, which is why they were first developed to treat type 2 diabetes in which patients' sugar levels are too high. Are there any risks? Yes – side effects are common but most are relatively mild. Around half of people taking the drug experience gut issues, including sickness, bloating, acid reflux, constipation and diarrhoea. Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical consultant at said: 'One of the more uncommon side effects is severe acute pancreatitis, which is extremely painful and happens to one in 500 people.' Other uncommon side effects include altered taste, kidney problems, allergic reactions, gallbladder problems and hypoglycemia. Evidence has so far been inconclusive about whether the injections are damaging to patients' mental health. Figures obtained by The Sun show that, up to January 2025, 85 patient deaths in the UK were suspected to be linked to the medicines Rosie revealed she was using mounjaro back in January 2023. She revealed that she was starting her weight loss transformation in a TikTok video. Advertisement Rosie then shared an update this March, revealing how she had "lost more weight". After moving to Ireland, she said, "I've lost more weight. "I am on Mounjaro for my diabetes and one of the side effects is you lose weight. "But it's also because I had a chef for over two years in Los Angeles and I don't have a chef now. It's me cooking for Clay and me." Major health advice for Oasis fans as Covid ‘superspreader' fears grow just days before Croke Park gigs
CROWD RISK Major health advice for Oasis fans as Covid 'superspreader' fears grow just days before Croke Park gigs MAJOR health advice has been issued to Oasis fans ahead of the weekend. The excitement is building for more than 160,000 concertgoers who are heading to Croke Park for the band's highly-anticipated reunion shows. Advertisement 2 A major health warning has been issued ahead of this weekend Credit: Getty 2 Fans are being urged to remain vigilant as Covid continues to spread Credit: Getty Images - Getty Liam and Noel Gallagher are set to take to the stage in Dublin on Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17, in what promises to be one of the biggest music weekends of the year. But with just four days to go, fans are being urged to remain vigilant as Covid - and in particular the new Stratus variant - continues to spread. Ireland recorded 453 new Covid cases last week alone, with health officials confirming that the latest XFG strain is responsible for more than two-thirds of recent infections. According to the Irish Mirror, the illness has already been reported at London's Wembley Stadium during Oasis's recent five-night run there. Advertisement Knightswood Pharmacy's Akash Sood warned: "New strands of Covid can infect thousands within metres of one another, so wear a mask if concerned, be safe and enjoy the return of Oasis." One of the more unusual early symptoms of the Stratus variant is a rough or raspy voice. However, this is something that could easily be mistaken as a result of singing along to Oasis hits all night. Harley Street GP and Founder of Hannah London Clinic, Dr Kaywaan Khan, told Cosmopolitan UK that "one of the most noticeable symptoms of the Stratus variant is hoarseness, which includes a scratchy or raspy voice." Advertisement Ireland's current public health guidance remains clear: Anyone displaying symptoms should isolate until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours. The HSE continues to encourage people to avoid close contacts with others, particularly those who are more vulnerable, and to stay alert for the wide range of potential Covid symptoms. Fans flood Edinburgh from all over the world for final Oasis gig at Murrayfield Fans are also expected to be basking in sunshiiine this weekend as dry weather and above average temperatures are expected for the two monster Croke Park gigs. However it won't be all Champagne Supernova on the weather front for fans as Met Eireann warned that showers are more likely during the Sunday - but concertgoers will just need to Roll With It as the drizzle will be short-lived. Advertisement Met Eireann forecaster Aoife Kealy told The Irish Sun: "Saturday is probably the best day to see Oasis. It's going to be dry with some good sunshine on Saturday. "The highs on Saturday will be 23 or 24 degrees, which are above average for August. MIXED BAG "Even when Oasis are coming off stage at 10.30pm, it will still be 17 or 18 degrees which is still hot and humid. "The chances are it's still going to stay dry and bright when Oasis are on stage and the winds will be light." Advertisement While Met Eireann predict dry weather for the second Oasis concert, fans will have to prepare for a Sunday Morning Call as the skies won't be as clear overhead. Forecaster Aoife said there is a chance fans attending the gig on Sunday will Cast No Shadow with the sun out less. She told us: "You're still seeing dry weather but Sunday will be that bit cloudier than Saturday. "There is definitely more chance of a shower on Sunday. From 8pm onwards you could see a couple of showers but I stress they will only be passing."
