Heartbreaking revelation about fashion designer found dead in boat at Hamptons yacht club
Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra, 33, was in the middle of uncontested divorce proceedings from her husband, Sam Ryan, as recently as April, according to New York County Supreme Court filings obtained by the New York Post.
She had since apparently moved onto a new relationship and was reportedly planning to marry her new boyfriend, who was not onboard the 54-foot SeaRay named Ripple at the Montauk Yacht Club last Tuesday, according to the Irish Independent.
Instead, she had texted her new beau that she would take an Uber home following what she described as a business outing.
Nolan-O'Slattara had founded luxury bathing suit company East x East in 2021, and had recently set up a new shop showing off her wares at Gurney's Montauk Resort and Seawater Spa.
Yet it remains unclear who she was meeting onboard the Ripple, where she was found unconscious in the early morning hours of August 5.
Good Samaritans attempted life-saving measures, but East Hampton Town Police pronounced her dead at the scene.
Investigators now say Nolan-O'Slatarra's body showed no signs of violence, but have not yet ruled out foul play.
The fashion designer lived a ritzy lifestyle in New York City before her untimely death, and often shared pictures of herself enjoying private jets and living it up with her glamorous pals.
On her TikTok account, Nolan-O'Slatarra was seen with her friends taking a Falcon jet to Nashville for a concert in 2021, with the designer highlighting her '#milehighclub' and '#privatejet' life in the captions.
Last October, she shared a video of herself and a male companion drinking bubbly as they flew over a sunny, rural looking area. She captioned the short clip: 'Heli on up.'
Nolan-O'Slattara also shared a TikTok clip of herself with the same man sitting in a luxurious convertible car as it drove through picturesque countryside.
She grew up in the small town of Carlow, Ireland, roughly 55 miles outside of Dublin. She left home at 16 after her parents sent her to the highly regarded Institute of Education, a private secondary school in Dublin.

And when pressed Tuesday about who she reports to in light of the federal takeover, Smith said: 'I answer to Mayor Muriel Bowser.' 'Let us not have any controversy with that, OK?' Smith told reporters outside the Justice Department after meeting with Bondi and other federal officials. 'Because I know people want to build upon and create division. We're here to work together with our federal partners, and that's what we're going to do.' Yet hours later, the White House struck a different tone, suggesting the ultimate authority lies in the hands of Bondi and Terry Cole, the Drug Enforcement Administration director whom Trump has tapped to serve as interim federal administrator of the police force. 'We plan to work with the Metropolitan Police Department, but ultimately, the chain of command is as such: the president of the United States, the attorney general of the United States, our DEA administrator, Terry Cole, who is now serving head of the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department,' White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters. Cole is working with Smith 'to ensure that law enforcement officers are allowed to do their jobs in the city,' Leavitt said. Justice Department officials have not answered questions about whether the Trump administration believes it has the authority to make decisions about D.C. personnel, and whether the attorney general has issued any new orders for the police force. Smith took on her role as police chief in the nation's capital in November 2023 and briefly served in other units, including the homeland security bureau. She also led the police force's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and had served as chief of the United States Park Police after a long career in that federal force. The law allows Trump to take over the D.C. police for up to 30 days, though the White House has suggested it could last longer as authorities later 'reevaluate and reassess.' Extending federal control past that time would require congressional approval, something likely tough to achieve in the face of Democratic resistance. Hundreds of federal officers from the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and other agencies have been doing overnight patrols in Washington since last week. Cole said federal officers would be 'embedded' with D.C. police to patrol the streets, but did not offer specific details on what would change in the chain of command. Even so, he described Smith as 'very accommodating' and said she was sharing ideas, giving him an office at police headquarters, and introducing him to staff. 'We have tremendous cooperation, tremendous intel sharing, and what's most encouraging, the police are looking forward to doing their job again,' Cole said in a Fox News interview.

'No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife,' he said. Hulk welcomed Brooke as well as son Nick, 35, with ex-wife Linda - whom he was married to from 1983 to 2009. He later tied the knot with Jennifer McDaniel in 2010 until their divorce in 2021. Two years later, the WWE legend said 'I do' to Sky and the pair were married up until his death. Brooke and her father last spoke nearly two years ago in September 2023 only weeks before he married Sky. On that call, Brooke expressed love and concern for her father - telling him that he shouldn't be working so hard due to his declining health. Despite her pleas for him to enjoy more of his life, those requests fell on deaf ears. The pair didn't speak again.

Trump says he will host Kennedy Center awards and rejected liberal artists
Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will host the Kennedy Center honors this year and said he had been heavily involved in choosing who to nominate, rejecting people he thought were too liberal. The US president named actor Sylvester Stallone, singer Gloria Gaynor, the rock band Kiss, country music star George Strait and actor and singer Michael Crawford among the first batch of Kennedy Center honors nominees since he took over as the Washington-based arts center's chairman upon returning to the White House this year. The president typically attends the annual honors event each December but sits in the audience as a VIP and hosts a reception for awardees at the White House. Trump's announcement that he will host the event is a break from tradition, although no details were released on what form that would take. His announcement continues his push to exert authority over US cultural institutions, such as the Smithsonian, and Democratic-led cities and came on the first full day that federalized national guard troops were on duty on the streets of Washington by order of the president. Trump has cited a crisis of crime and homelessness in the nation's capital to sharp criticism from opponents. In an appearance at the arts center on Wednesday morning, Trump also said that he intends to 'fully renovate' the entire infrastructure of the Kennedy Center to make it a 'crown jewel' of arts and culture in the US. 'We're going to bring it to a higher level than it ever hit,' the president said, adding the venue would be featured in next year's celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. Trump said he had been invited to host the Kennedy Center honors and had reluctantly agreed. In March, the producers of the rap musical Hamilton pulled out of staging their Broadway hit, citing Trump's aggressive takeover of the institution's leadership. In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump had teased a name change for the center, formally the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and said it would be restored to its past glory. 'GREAT Nominees for the TRUMP/KENNEDY CENTER, whoops, I mean, KENNEDY CENTER, AWARDS,' Trump wrote. He said work was being done on the site that would bring it 'back to the absolute TOP LEVEL of luxury, glamour, and entertainment'. 'It had fallen on hard times, physically, BUT WILL SOON BE MAKING A MAJOR COMEBACK!!!' he wrote. He did not announce a name change during his appearance later on Wednesday. House Republicans added an amendment to a spending bill Trump signed into law in July to rename the Kennedy Center Opera House after Melania Trump, but that venue has yet to be renamed. Maria Shriver, a niece of the late President Kennedy, a Democrat, has criticized as 'insane' a separate House proposal to rename the entire center after Trump. Trump said he was 'about 98% involved' in choosing the honorees this year. He added that he 'turned down plenty' of names, saying those individuals were 'too woke' or too liberal. He described the artists he announced on Wednesday, including several of his favorites, as 'great people'.
