Max releases first trailer for 'Peacemaker' season 2 along with premiere date announcement
The highly anticipated second season of Peacemaker will premiere on Max on August 21 2025, accompanying the announcement comes a brand-new trailer featuring familiar faces and exciting new cameos.
The trailer kicks off with John Cena's character, Peacemaker/Chris, being interrogated by Justice League members Guy Gardner (Green Lantern), Hawkgirl, and Maxwell Lord. During the exchange, Peacemaker boasts about his skills, claiming to be 'the finest marksman in the world' and proficient in hand-to-hand combat. However, his bravado is met with skepticism from the team, with Green Lantern remarking, 'This guy sucks.' This interaction sets the tone for the comedic and action-packed season ahead.
Season 2 continues the story of Christopher 'Chris' Smith (Peacemaker) as he grapples with his past while embracing his role as a misguided vigilante. The new season will see Chris continuing his quest for peace by taking down wrongdoers, albeit in his unique, often destructive way.
Returning cast members include Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick. New faces in Season 2 include Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows. The season consists of eight episodes, all written by James Gunn, who also directed three, including the season premiere.
The show is part of Gunn's rebooted DC Universe, which began with Creature Commandos and will continue with Superman. The inclusion of Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner and Isabel Merced's Hawkgirl sets up ties to future DC projects, including Superman.
Peacemaker Season 2 will stream on Max starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT on August 21.

James Gunn addresses Superman and Fantastic Four fan rivalry ahead of July box office showdown
As excitement builds for two major superhero films hitting theaters this July—DC's Superman and Marvel's Fantastic Four—DC Studios co-head James Gunn has stepped in to ease rising tensions among fans. On Threads, Gunn responded to a fan question about Marvel's Fantastic Four by emphasizing unity rather than rivalry. 'They come out two weeks after us – there's room for us both! I love my friends at Marvel,' Gunn wrote. 'I'd focus on all the positivity around the films instead of getting sucked up in online fan wars.' The release timing has sparked comparisons, with Superman set to premiere on July 11 and Fantastic Four following on July 25. Gunn's remarks aim to refocus attention on the films themselves rather than encourage franchise competition. Though now a key figure at DC, Gunn has deep ties to Marvel. He wrote and directed the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, produced Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, and contributed to several Marvel projects over the past decade. His support for Marvel comes from long-standing relationships with the studio and its creators. Adding to the competitive summer box office, Jurassic World Rebirth will debut earlier on July 2. The film features Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali and is directed by Gareth Edwards. Gunn's Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, with Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult also leading the cast. Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps, directed by Matt Shakman, stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. While online chatter may fuel a Marvel vs. DC narrative, Gunn encourages fans to embrace the blockbuster season for what it is—a celebration of superheroes on all fronts.

Sherri Papini names ex-boyfriend as abductor in shocking new interview
Sherri Papini, once known for faking her own abduction, now claims she was truly kidnapped — and has named her ex-boyfriend James Reyes as the man responsible. In Investigation Discovery's two-night special Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie, airing May 26–27, Papini reverses her prior confession and shares disturbing new details. Papini, 42, disappeared in 2016 for 22 days, returning with bruises, branding, and a chain around her waist. At the time, she blamed two Hispanic women, a lie she later admitted. But now, Papini alleges Reyes was behind the ordeal. 'There was no consent,' she claims. 'I am telling you there was no consent.' Reyes previously denied kidnapping her, insisting he was just helping a friend. The documentary highlights male DNA on her clothes that led authorities to Reyes. He told investigators the wounds were self-inflicted, though admitted to branding her at her request. Papini pleaded guilty to mail fraud and lying to a federal officer in 2022 and served nearly 11 months in prison. Now released, Papini says she kept Reyes' identity secret out of fear. In a polygraph test featured in the show, her responses suggested her story was credible. Her therapist also supports her claims, saying she's finally breaking long-standing defense mechanisms rooted in childhood trauma. Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie is also available to stream on Max.
