AMMAN — The government retired debts totalling JD750 million during the first two months of 2025.
Over the same period, the government issued bonds and treasury bills worth JD1.175 billion as part of its debt management strategy, according to official data cited by Al Mamlaka TV.
In January alone, JD150 million in debt was repaid, while the government issued JD350 million in bonds and treasury bills and paid JD83 million in loan interest.
Treasury bonds, a key component of government financing, are long-term debt instruments with maturities ranging from two to twenty years. These include both sovereign bonds and those issued by corporations.
Treasury bills, by contrast, are short-term government debt securities with maturities between three and twelve months. Known for their low risk and liquidity, they are frequently traded in financial markets.

Visa limitations were introduced targeting Chinese students with ties to the Communist Party or sensitive scientific fields. In response, China maintained export controls on rare earth minerals—crucial to electronics, electric vehicles, and defense industries—a move the Trump administration views as retaliatory. Diplomatic Engagement in Beijing Amid these tensions, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with new U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue in Beijing, urging Washington to 'return relations to the right track.' On digital acceleration and the future of government, His Royal Highness said: "I see the government securely utilizing artificial intelligence technologies to process demographic, economic, and health data—using it as a key tool in decision-making, enhancing transparency, and forecasting risks." Addressing the future of technologies, he stated: "In the near future, I envision drones made by Jordanian companies delivering urgent medical supplies, monitoring water and electricity networks to protect them, or being used in agricultural technologies."
