Salakaar Movie X Review: Netizens Divided Over Naveen Kasturia's Latest Spy Thriller

India.com2 days ago
New Delhi: Salakaar, the much-anticipated spy thriller series, has officially debuted today on the OTT platform JioCinema (previously Hotstar), sparking a flurry of reactions across social media. Fans and netizens quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their first impressions and reviews.
Directed by Faruk Kabir and written by Srinivas Abrol, the series features a notable cast of Naveen Kasturia, Mouni Roy, and Mukesh Rishi in lead roles.
Netizens Reactions
Social media platforms are abuzz with reactions, with fans praising Salaar for its bold experimentation and gripping action, while others criticise it for its lack of originality and emotional depth.
One user wrote, 'One of #Salaar's greatest qualities is that, in addition to being an experimental action film that succeeded, it also avoided needless drama, a love story, a mass song, and other useless aspects. Simple and flawlessly crafted drama action film. #Prabhas's desire to experiment & create trends in this way is nothing new.'

Another review called it a 'disaster' writing, 'One World Review:- DISASTER
Rating:-1½ [ DISAPPOINTED]
It's Better to watch KGF2 or BAHUBALI 2 on OTT instead watching salaar in theatre..
The movie's repetitive storyline, revolving around friends turning into enemies, fails to bring anything fresh to the table. Drawing inspiration from the original flop Ugramm movie doesn't do it any favors, as it feels like a recycled attempt. Prabhas struggles to convey genuine emotion, and his performance falls flat. Prashant Neel's direction leans heavily on forced scenes, contributing to an illogical and nonsensical narrative. Overall, a disappointing remake that lacks the depth and creativity needed to engage the audience..'

A third viewer reflected, 'Watched #Salakaar
Honestly. It's good. Acting of every actor is commendable. Story is above average. It's fiction. But, good. Arc comes to an end in the end. Satisfying to say the least.
What's bad are the inconsistencies. Too many plot holes. Could have been better.'

They continued, 'Needed more substance.
Doesn't feel real at points.
I think they made #Salakaar a movie. After making they realized ki it is not gonna work so made it into series. The Ending is a mix of "ARGO + BABY + BELL BOTTOM"
ONE LINE : GOOD, but Could have been better. ENJOYED THOUGH.'

Salakaar Storyline
'Salakaar', the latest spy thriller on JioHotstar, dives into a high-stakes world of espionage, nuclear threats, and unresolved tensions between India and Pakistan. While many thrillers have explored this geopolitical rivalry, Salakaar stands out by drawing inspiration from real-life events, adding a layer of authenticity to its gripping narrative.

Bengaluru woman rental ad goes viral for accepting smokers, non-vegetarians, even ‘Satan worshipers', see how social media reacted

Synopsis A Bengaluru woman's rental advertisement went viral on X, not for the apartment itself, but for its unique and inclusive criteria. While specifying preferences like female tenants, smokers, and even "Satan worshipers" being welcome, she emphasized that kindness was the only non-negotiable requirement. The post resonated with many, praising her open-mindedness and focus on decency. ET Online A Bengaluru woman's witty and inclusive rental post on social media has gone viral — not for its apartment details, but for its blend of humour, warmth, and a firm emphasis on kindness, thanks to one standout phrase: 'Satan worshiper.'Posting on X (formerly Twitter), she announced she was moving out of her 'absolute favourite place' and was seeking a female tenant to take over the master bedroom in her 3BHK apartment near the Embassy Golf Links (EGL) area. The location, she noted, was perfect for professionals working in Domlur, Indiranagar, HAL, or those commuting to Bellandur via Wind Tunnel listing included standard information — rent of ₹18,300, a refundable deposit of ₹38,000, and a one-time setup cost of ₹22,000. The house is fully furnished, offers ample storage, sits on an elevated ground floor, and has excellent ventilation. But the part that caught the internet's attention was the tenant criteria: 'Female only, can be a smoker, non-vegetarian, satan worshiper. Everything accepted except unkindness.' — rooftopsodapop (@rooftopsodapop) This mix of extreme openness and an uncompromising stance on decency resonated online, with users praising the no-nonsense yet kind-hearted tone. The post painted a vivid picture of the apartment's appeal — cherry blossoms blooming on the lane, sunlight streaming into the room, and two 'floofs,' Sandy and Channel, who greet the tenant daily. She also described the location as 'a short auto ride from all the cool places in Indiranagar' and called EGL 'an excellent walking/running track,' sharing photos of the bright, airy space. Reactions poured in — one user joked, 'Satan worshiper, pet snakes allowed?' while another remarked, 'Kindness being an absolute requirement is a first.' Some also questioned the common Bengaluru practice of outgoing tenants finding replacements themselves, asking, 'Why do Bangalore people try to find the next tenant, isn't that the owner's responsibility?'

Deepika Padukone Quits The Intern Remake Amid 8-Hour Work Shift Row

Deepika Padukone is shifting gears from acting to producing in the upcoming Hindi remake of the 2015 Hollywood film, The Intern. After being attached to the project for nearly five years, the actress has decided to step away from her acting role and will instead focus solely on producing the film under her banner, KA Productions. Originally, the Hindi version of the Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway film was set to star Deepika alongside Rishi Kapoor. Following Rishi Kapoor's death, actor Amitabh Bachchan was brought on board to play the lead role. A report by Mid-Day revealed, 'This time, Deepika will step away from acting in the film to serve solely as a producer, overseeing the creative and logistical reboot. A new leading lady is being cast to play the part she was once slated to perform.' The report added, ' The Intern is the first of five projects she plans to mount in the coming year. She is looking to tell stories that are globally relevant." The news comes months after Deepika Padukone walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit. The actress' decision to leave the film reportedly stemmed from creative differences and demands that included an eight-hour workday, profit-sharing, and substantial compensation. She also refused to deliver her dialogues in Telugu. Deepika has since been replaced by Triptii Dimri in Prabhas starrer Spirit. There were also some rumours suggesting that Deepika might be exiting Kalki 2. Reports indicated friction on set due to her demands for shorter workdays after becoming a mother, potentially leading to her role being reduced or removed. Sources close to the production soon debunked these rumours, stating that there had been no shoot, interaction, or fallout, as the film is still in development. Deepika Padukone was last seen in the 2024 Diwali release, Singham Again. The actress welcomed her daughter Dua with husband Ranveer Singh in September last year.

Bigg Boss 19: Co-stars, friends, rivals to lock horns this year on Salman Khan-hosted show

Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 19 is set to arrive in two weeks. This year, the digital-first season will stream on JioCinema, and after 90 minutes, the episode will air on Colors TV. On Thursday, the makers released the show's official trailer, in which Salman dropped hints about the new season. Promising viewers an intriguing dose of 'demo-crazy,' he further amped up excitement for Bigg Boss 19. At SCREEN, we've already shared some exclusive details about the season, and now, we have even more updates on the show's contestants. This year, Bigg Boss 19 is said to run for five months, and like we told you earlier, this season, the housemates will be running the show. Salman Khan also confirmed the same in the show's official trailer. He said, 'This is happening for the first time in 18-19 years that in the Bigg Boss house there won't be drama crazy, but it will be demo-crazy. All big and small decisions will be in the hands of the housemates, but every decision will also come with a consequence. This season it will be gharwalon ki sarkaar.' Also Read: Bigg Boss 19 to be run by housemates this year, house for the Salman Khan-hosted show to be ready by August 20 A post shared by JioHotstar (@jiohotstar) Like we had informed earlier, this season it won't be Bigg Boss Chahte Hai, but rather Bigg Boss Jaanna Chhate Hai. The audience will play a crucial role in deciding nominations and making other key decisions on the show this year. In line with the political theme, contestants will be divided into two teams — the ruling party and the opposition. Each week, they will compete in a satta badal task to elect a new sarkaar to run the house. This season will feature 15 contestants entering the show, with three to four wild card entries expected to join later. According to an update from our source, 10 contestants have already been locked, and the casting this year is said to be the best in the last two seasons. Another source revealed that the makers plan to truly level up the game by casting friends, co-stars, rivals, and exes to spice things up. For instance, Apoorva Mukhija could find herself pitted against her The Traitors co-star Purav Jha. Similarly, Siwet Tomar could find himself pitted against Khank Whagnani. Both acquaintances would be placed on opposing teams to ensure fairness in the 'rajneeti' that unfolds in the Bigg Boss 19 house. A source also shared, 'The game is leveling up this year. While the entire perception around the show has been that it is biased and orchestrated, this year, the makers are trying to change that perspection. Even the contestants are leveled up.' Host Salman Khan is also said to be very involved in the show this year. A post shared by Bigg Boss 19 Khabri (@ While the final list of contestants will only be revealed on premiere day, a few names rumoured to be confirmed include Dheeraj Dhoopar, Sailesh Lodha, Gurucharan Singh, Hunar Gandhi, Mr. Faisu, Dhanashree Verma, Apoorva Mukhija, and Pooja Gamingg. Others still in talks are Purav Jha, Nidhi Shah, Jannat Zubair, Hiba Nawab, Sreeram Chandra, and Gaurav Khanna. It was also reported last week that The Traitors contestant Elnaaz Norouzi was offered Rs 6 crore per week to appear on the show, but had to decline due to film commitments. Bigg Boss 19 starts from August 24 at 9 pm on JioHotstar and 10:30 pm on Colors TV. Salman Khan will be hosting the show for three months.
