OnePlus will launch its latest smartphone, the
OnePlus 13s
, in India on June 5. The phone is expected to introduce new AI tools and a customizable Plus Key, alongside Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite processor. Market expectations suggest this may be a rebranded version of the OnePlus 13T, which launched in China last month.
OnePlus 13s Price and launch details
OnePlus will announce the official price during its launch event. However, leaks suggest that the OnePlus 13s may be priced around ₹55,000. If true, it would position the device between the OnePlus 13R and the flagship OnePlus 13.
The OnePlus 13s brings a major change in hardware design by replacing the alert slider with a Plus Key. This new button will be customisable for tasks such as launching the camera, switching sound profiles, starting translation, or recording. OnePlus says the button's key function is to trigger OnePlus AI Plus Mind, which can 'capture all the on-screen content and analyze it for future reference.'

OnePlus 13s specifications
Though official specifications will be revealed during the launch, the OnePlus 13s is expected to have similar features to the OnePlus 13T. The front camera has been confirmed as a 32MP auto-focus shooter, replacing the 16MP sensor found in the Chinese version.
OnePlus 13s Features
Leaks suggest a 6.32-inch 1.5K 8T LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits peak brightness. The phone may offer LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Unlike the OnePlus 13, the 13s may use an optical fingerprint sensor instead of an ultrasonic one and may carry an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.
OnePlus 13s Software and camera
The phone is likely to ship with OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. It could feature a dual-camera setup on the back, including a 50MP IMX906 primary sensor with OIS and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens.

CEO of Humane Intelligence warns humans what they should not do with AI: 'That is a failure state because...'
As the tech world races toward advanced forms of artificial general intelligence (AGI), Rumman Chowdhury , CEO of Humane Intelligence and former US Science Envoy for AI, has sent a strong message about the growing reliance on artificial intelligence (AI). She emphasised that AI should not be used as a substitute for human thought. 'If we start to say, 'Well, the AI system is going to do the thinking for me,' that is a failure state,' Chowdhury said in an interview, highlighting that AI systems are fundamentally limited by current human data and capabilities. 'New and novel inventions, new and novel ideas don't come out of AI systems. They come out of our brains, actually. Not AI brains,' she added. AI is a tool, not a…: says Chowdhury Chowdhury also says that 'AI is a tool, not a creator,' while referring to statements like AI could unlock major scientific breakthroughs, such as new treatments for diseases like Alzheimer's or cancer. 'True innovation comes from human insight,' she added. Chowdhury also addressed the issue of AI reliability , pointing out how prompt design can influence a model's output. She shared an instance when a chatbot gave medically inaccurate advice because the prompt was emotionally persuasive. 'You find that the model actually starts trying to agree with you, because it's trying to be helpful,' she said, adding, 'That's a big, glaring flaw.' The broader issue, according to Chowdhury, is people's willingness to accept AI-generated answers without questioning the intent behind their queries. 'Why do you need this information? What are you using it for?' she asked. 'We are at a critical juncture. People are too ready to let AI do all the thinking, and that's dangerous,' she noted.
