‘The Last of Us' Season 2 Trailer: Promises Broken and New Paths Roamed in Epic Return
Get those knapsacks and blunt objects ready because 'The Last of Us' Season 2 is about to take you on one hell of a journey. Headed to HBO and Max on April 13, the second installment in the hit post-apocalyptic TV series comes over two years after the first season aired, but looks to reward viewers for their patience with an epic season still centered around the relationship between Bella Ramsey's Ellie and Pedro Pascal's Joel, but also full of new characters played by Jeffrey Wright, Kaitlyn Dever, Young Mazino, Catherine O'Hara, and Joe Pantoliano. 'The Last of Us' is based on the popular video game series of the same name, with Season 1 serving as a relatively faithful adaptation of the overarching plot of the first game and Season 2 set to do the same with 'Part II.' In fact, Wright is set to play the same role he originated in the game. The first season premiered in March 2023 to huge ratings, strong critical praise, and ultimately a number of awards, including eight wins at the Creative Arts Emmys, a SAG Award for Pascal, and recognition by the DGA and WGA.

During the awards race that year, IndieWire spoke to the co-creator Craig Mazin on the vital element love plays to the plot. 'To the extent that it might start to feel iterative, all I can say is it's the problem — love is the problem,' he said. 'It's the problem now. It's the problem for all of us. And we don't like to think of it that way, but it is. The odds are that we all will do something beautiful and sacrificial and admirable because of love. And also, all of us are going to do something terrible because of love, something destructive or violent or cruel. Because we've invented a word for a part of us we have no control over.'
That love seems to be tested with Season 2, as the relatively stable life Ellie and Joel have found in the community of Jackson, Wyoming is upended by the rising presence of infected clickers and a possible invading force led by Dever's Abby. Fans of the video game will know the key part she plays in the second half of the story between the makeshift father and daughter, though it's unclear how directly Mazin and co-creator Neil Druckmann (creator of the original game) will follow this plot and how much they will expand on it. The show has already been renewed for Season 3 and Mazin says a fourth isn't out of the question.

Threads Adds Spoiler Tags for Posts

After testing them out over the past few months, Threads has now launched its new spoiler tags in posts, which will enable users to hide words in their posts behind a tappable overlay. As you can see in this example, posted by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, now if you want to mention something without letting everyone see (like, for example, a TV show spoiler), you can highlight the relevant text within the composer, then select 'Mark spoiler' to blur it. Viewers will then have the choice as to whether they want to reveal that info or not, which will add another engagement element to your Threads posting options. As noted, Threads has been developing this for some time, with the first indicators of the feature spotted in testing back in January. The option is similar to the spoiler tags on Reddit, providing another consideration when sharing potentially disruptive info. The main target here is TV show discussion, which is still a major element of interaction on X, though Threads says that it's also seeing more chatter about trending shows, including 'The Last of Us' and 'The White Lotus.' Tapping into trending entertainment discussion could help Threads become a bigger competitor for X, and grow its evolving community, which is steadily rising to become a more important companion for live event discussion. Indeed, Threads is now up to 350 million monthly active users, and continues to see strong download momentum. X reported back in March that it's now serving 600 million monthly actives, though it is also losing users in some markets. By focusing on live event discussion, which also includes live sports, Threads is hoping to be able to dethrone X as the place to be for in-the-moment engagement. And if it can win over more of these communities, it could well be on track to become the next billion-user platform, as envisioned by Zuck and Co.

It's an exciting time to be a 'Harry Potter' fan amid casting news for HBO's upcoming series adaptation and the surprise reveal that original Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton will be reprising the role in Broadway's 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.' One person who is ecstatic about it all is Jason Isaacs, who starred as Lucius Malfoy in the film franchise beginning with 2002's 'Chamber of Secrets.' Isaacs took to social media to champion the return of his movie offspring (aka Felton as Draco). 'Can't wait, son. That'll be me in the front row with something in my eye,' Isaacs wrote on Instagram after news broke about Felton playing Draco again. He later added on X: 'Tickets booked for November.' Noah Wyle begins production on 'The Pitt' Season 2

Production is commencing on the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank, Calif. with some Pittsburgh, Pa., exteriors. A photo shows Noah Wyle and Ken Kirby walking through the hospital, followed by a camera. Wyle plays Dr. Robinavitch, who presides over a team of doctors and nurses in a Pittsburgh hospital. The first season followed one shift with each hour representing an hour of real time. Kirby played a doctor introduced at 6 p.m. or episode 12. Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Fiona Dourif and Isa Briones also star. Wyle reunites with his ER producer John Wells and also executive produces. R. Scott Gemmill created The Pitt. Max renewed The Pitt for Season 2 in February. The Season 1 finale aired April 10. Wyle discussed plans for the new season in May on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Season 2 will stream in January, by which time Max will revert its name back to HBO Max.
