Dhofar's Frankincense Market thrives, supporting over 300 local families
Through this event, Dhofar Municipality contributes to supporting more than 300 productive families and small and medium enterprises from various wilayats of the governorate. The market displays a range of handicrafts, Omani foods, and traditional goods that reflect the cultural and societal identity of Dhofar Governorate.
This year's market has witnessed organisational improvements, including the expansion of product display areas, the development of public facilities and parking spaces, and the redesign of the kiosks and surrounding buildings with a local architectural style. This enriches the visitor experience and highlights the governorate's cultural heritage.
Salem bin Abdullah Fadhel, supervisor of the "Frankincense Market" event, explained that the market is witnessing a remarkable diversity of participation this year, thanks to the direct support provided by Dhofar Municipality. He noted that the market is not merely a sales outlet, but rather an integrated platform for displaying and highlighting elements of local heritage.
He added that visitors will find a wide variety of handicrafts at the market, such as palm fronds, incense burners, and Omani frankincense products, in addition to traditional foods offered by productive families.
The accompanying event includes daily performances held on the market stage from 4:00 PM until midnight, during which traditional Omani art troupes present artistic works inspired by local heritage, including "Al-Habut," "Al-Bar'ah," and "Al-Madima." There will also be children's performances, folk plays, and singing sessions featuring a number of Omani artists.
The market will continue to welcome visitors until the end of the autumn season, serving as a tourist and cultural destination and an effective source of support for local projects and productive families, as well as contributing to revitalizing the community economy in Dhofar Governorate.

Salalah: The Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season 2025 offers children a unique blend of entertainment and education, combining fun and exploration in diverse and captivating environments.
