Dodgers recall Edgardo Henriquez, designate Lou Trivino for assignment
Henriquez is 1-0 with a 5.89 ERA in 18 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He was activated on June 29 and optioned to the Comets after missing the start of the season with a foot injury. The 23-year-old right-hander made his big-league debut with the Dodgers last season, going 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA and five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
Henriquez has been in the Dodgers organization since 2019, appearing in 106 games. He was signed as an international free agent in September 2018.
Trivino gave up two runs in one-third of an inning on Sunday and took the loss against the Milwaukee Brewers. The 33-year-old right-hander allowed 11 runs in 26 1/3 innings over 26 appearances this season.
He previously pitched for San Francisco, the Athletics and the New York Yankees over six seasons. He signed as a minor league free agent with the Dodgers in May.

Getting A Start On Celebrating The Rangers 100th Anniversary
You can't see it or hear about it just yet, but inside Madison Square Garden, the Rangers organization is busy planning for the club's gala 100th anniversary. At this very time a century ago the Garden -- that is the third Garden, not this one – was a year old and already had an NHL team, the New York Americans. Now, a century ago, Conn Smythe was given the job of building a Rangers roster. Now, you Blueshirt fans can get a jump on the MSG marketeers and learn all about the Original 1926-27 Blueshirts, their unusual creation, and the arresting characters that enabled New York to have its first Stanley Cup only a season (1927-28) later. The way to do so is get your hands on a copy of "The Last Original Ranger," a novel by Bryan Reilly. I've read it twice; and my buddy Bernie Rhode just finished his. Together, we are RAVING about it. While "The Last Original Ranger" is called "fiction," it is, but it also isn't. Author Reilly weaves his tale around Murray Murdoch, who made the Blueshirt varsity in 1926 along with the more famous Frank Boucher and the brothers Cook, Bill and Bun. With uncanny historic accuracy, Reilly captures the essence of training camp right into the regular season with both major and minor characters from that era exquisitely portrayed. (One such character really fooled The Maven.) There's also a keen mystery plot which Reilly cleverly disguised and which will be a challenge for any Rangers historian to unravel. J.T. Miller Has To Put Spirit Back Into The Blueshirts Not long after the Rangers packed their gear and went golfing, snorkeling or whatever elsehey do with their petty cash, Joe Micheletti said something not so petty about the team he'd left as an MSG Networks analyst. The beauty part is that Brother O'Reilly can write which makes the whole package a must read. Bottom Line: Reading "The Last Original Ranger," you'll get the feel that this 1926-27 team played only last night and you're reading about them in today's papers. Get a hold of this gem and you can boast that you're the first Ranger fan on your block to start celebrating the your team's 100th anniversary. (P.S. Check my other sidebar today for Bryan Reilly's assessment of the current Rangers. The man may be a novelist, but you'll find that he's also a realist.)

Deion Sanders to hold press conference with Colorado medical team amid mysterious health battle
Deion Sanders provided a brief, positive health update Friday, and it seems the full reveal of his medical battle that has had him laying low this offseason is coming soon. Sanders tweeted 'Back and Feeling Great!' on X on Friday morning with his third season as Colorado's coach nearing, and will hold a press conference Monday with his medical team, which features staffers from CU Anschutz and UC Health, to 'provide general and team updates,' the school said in a release. The 57-year-old Sanders has not offered many details about the mysterious illness that has kept the camera friendly coach out of the spotlight this offseason. Advertisement 4 Deion Sanders at Big 12 media day on July 9. AP He missed part of the Buffaloes' spring and summer workouts due to the health issue, per ESPN, and also did not attend contract-stipulated summer football camps. Sanders told former NFL star cornerback Asante Samuel in May that 'what I'm dealing with right now is at a whole other level.' Advertisement The NFL Hall of Famer has battled various health scares in recent years, including having two toes amputated in 2021 and 2023 surgery for blood clots in his left leg. Sanders got a little testy at Big 12 media day earlier this month when pressed about the issue, although he downplayed any concern to ESPN. 4 Deion Sanders during Colorado's spring game in April. AP 'I'm already back,' Sanders told ESPN on July 9 at Big 12 media day. 'I'm here today. I'm handling my responsibilities. So I look forward to it. I can't wait. You've got to understand, some of the young (players) I haven't even met yet. I'm so excited about that.' IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect He said in a YouTube video posted July 20 by his oldest son, Deion Jr.. that, 'You know I'm still going through something' and 'I ain't all the way recovered.' Deion Jr. then referenced a 'battle that was fought and won' at the compound in his last YouTube video posted July 23. AP 'I'm kind of sad, I'm not gonna lie to you,' Deion Jr. said of leaving the compound. 'I learned to really actually love this place. … It's not even just about being here. It was like the battle that was fought here. The battle that was fought and won here. That's like the main important thing. Boys didn't left the house for two months. 'It's a blessing. He's gonna tell y'all whatever he went through very soon, and I've got a lot of it recorded on video. So, you'll be able to see what he went through.' Sanders faces perhaps his toughest coaching challenge this upcoming season since becoming Colorado's coach prior to the 2023 season. He will no longer have reigning Heisman winner and two-way phenom Travis Hunter, the No. 2 pick in the draft, or quarterback son Shedeur Sanders, who fell to the fifth round. Red Sox Trade Rumors: Insider Gives Most 'Likely' Jarren Duran Outcome
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Red Sox have needs they need to address before the MLB trade deadline. They have a surplus at a position with one very valuable trade chip in Jarren Duran. However, it sounds as if it's becoming increasingly unlikely that Boston moves the outfielder before Thursday's deadline. MLB Network's Mark Feinsand did a Reddit AMA on Friday in which he addressed a number of topics. One commenter asked whether the Red Sox will trade Duran before the deadline, and Feinsand admitted it was possible but an offseason blockbuster might be the more likely outcome. (Photo by Maddie Malhotra/Boston) More "Duran seems to be available, but Boston is not in a position where they have to trade him by any means," Feinsand wrote on Reddit. "If the Sox can get a controllable starter to pair with Garrett Crochet atop the rotation, I think they would move Duran. Maybe a Mitch Keller type?" Feinsand noted the Red Sox could "easily" shop Duran in the offseason, but ultimately, "I'd say it's more likely that Duran is a Red Sox come Aug. 1 than wearing another uniform." Any trade talks about Duran might be rendered moot anyway. Boston's apparent depth in the outfield is being tested at the moment. The Red Sox placed infielder Marcelo Mayer on the injured list Friday ahead of their series with the Dodgers. That means Ceddanne Rafaela will move off of outfield for the time being and get the bulk of reps at second base. Presumably, that means Duran, Wilyer Abreu and Roman Anthony will be Boston's primary outfield until Mayer returns from his wrist injury.
