Early morning shed fire in Woolwich Township
Bridge Street West was partially closed after a shed fire in Woolwich Township, May 30, 2025.
Fire crews were on scene of an early morning shed fire behind a home north of Waterloo Friday.
In a social media post at 6:10 a.m., the Waterloo Regional Police Service said a portion of Bridge Street West in Woolwich Township was closed for a house fire.
Waterloo Fire Rescue told CTV News they got the call at 4:32 a.m. Six trucks from Waterloo Fire and an unspecified number from Woolwich Fire Department attended the scene.
Waterloo Fire confirmed the fire was knocked down by 5:15 a.m., with crews still seen on site at 8 a.m. looking for the source of the fire.
Police told CTV News no injuries had been reported.
One cat was missing from the property after the fire. Woolwich District Fire Chief Arnie Gingrich said it was not found in the aftermath.
Waterloo fire said the cause of the fire and the estimated cost of damage was unknown.
Bridge Street West was closed from King Street North to McMurray Road.

In signing a new constitution in an historic ceremony at the Big House in Bella Bella, the Heiltsuk Nation took a step forward – by looking to the past. 'It clarifies and creates certainty for ourselves, for other governments such as the provincial and federal government, as well as proponents that might want to do business in our territory,' Heiltsuk Hereditary Chief Frank Brown told CTV News. The new constitution is the culmination of close to two decades of work which included extensive community consultation for on-reserve and off-reserve First Nations members. It passed a referendum with a 67 per cent majority. 'Today we declare to the world that we, the Heiltsuk Nation, and governments, are renewing and reclaiming our ancestral laws and authority,' elected Chief Marilyn Slett said at the signing ceremony on Friday. Over thousands of years, the Heiltsuk and other BC First Nations developed hereditary systems of governance. Canada imposed elected chiefs and councils on them through the Indian Act. The new Heiltsuk constitution enshrines a framework that will see power and decision-making authority shared by hereditary leadership, the elected chief and council, and the nation's women's council. 'It's going to provide guidance and leadership for our next generations to be able to steer the ship of the Heiltsuk Nation, to propel ourselves forward in a good way while holding on to our ancestral teachings,' said Brown.

Saskatchewan issues evacuation order for town of La Ronge as wildfire breaches airport
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency says the northern town of La Ronge has ordered an evacuation due to a wildfire that has breached the airport. It says the fire is fast moving and that people in the town, as well as anyone within 20 kilometres, including nearby Air Ronge and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, must leave immediately. The agency says anyone who can self-evacuate and find their own accommodation must use Highway 2 and register at the Days Inn in Prince Albert, about 240 kilometres to the south.
