TDP celebrates CM Naidu's 75th birthday with social service, tributes; PM, leaders extend greetings
VIJAYAWADA: The TDP rank and file across Andhra Pradesh celebrated the 75th birthday of party supremo and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu with grandeur on Sunday.
Celebrations included a variety of events, from cutting cakes weighing 75 kg to organising blood donation camps and Annadanam (food distribution) programme, reflecting the party's commitment to social service. Naidu, currently on a brief vacation abroad with his family, took a well-deserved break from his hectic schedule over the past several months.
At the TDP central office, party leaders organised celebrations and social service activities to honour their supremo. Naidu's son, IT Minister Nara Lokesh, joined his father abroad and extended his birthday wishes via X, expressing admiration for his father's able leadership.
Several ministers, including K Atchannaidu, Nimmala Rama Naidu, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, P Narayana, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Kolusu Parthasarathy, BC Janardhan Reddy, Anagani Satya Prasad, and M Ramprasad Reddy, conveyed their greetings through social media.
MPs such as K Rammohan Naidu and Kesineni Sivanath, along with MLAs Sujana Chowdary and others, also wished the TDP chief on the occasion. Prominent leaders from other parties, including BJP State chief D Purandeswari, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and APCC chief YS Sharmila, joined in extending their greetings to Naidu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to wish Naidu, stating, 'Best wishes to my good friend and Andhra Pradesh CM Shri N Chandrababu Naidu Garu. It is commendable how he is tirelessly working for the development of AP, with a focus on futuristic sectors. Praying for his long and healthy life.'
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also shared a heartfelt message on X, describing Naidu as a visionary leader capable of reviving the State that had faced economic decline. 'The vision and relentless enthusiasm shown by Shri Chandrababu Garu, who is serving as Chief Minister for the fourth time, are truly remarkable,' Pawan Kalyan wrote, wishing Naidu a long and happy life.
In his message on X, Naidu expressed deep gratitude to the people for their unwavering support throughout his 47-year political journey. Reflecting on his four terms as Chief Minister, he termed the opportunity to serve a rare privilege, and reaffirmed his dedication to the progress of the Telugu community and Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu emphasised his renewed commitment to fulfil the aspirations of the people, focusing on transforming the State into a global hub for innovation by 2047 through his Swarna Andhra-2047 Vision, which was unveiled in the Legislative Assembly on November 22, 2024. This vision is anchored on 10 principles, including zero poverty, employment generation, and water security.
He also highlighted the P4 (Public-Private-People-Partnership) initiative, launched on March 30, 2025, aimed at eradicating poverty by 2047. Building on the success of his earlier Janmabhoomi programme, the P4 initiative seeks to uplift underprivileged families into 'Golden Families' by fostering inclusive growth through contributions from affluent individuals, including NRIs.
He lauded the Telugu diaspora's global achievements, noting their high per capita income, and urged collective action to establish the community as a leading force by 2047.

1 2 Vijayawada: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has set a target of completing 1,040 km of national highways (NH) in the current financial year with an outlay of 20,067 crore. In a review meeting with the officials of R&B, NHAI, and the contractors executing the road works on Monday, Naidu stated that all issues related to land acquisition, forest, and wildlife clearance should be resolved by the end of July. Naidu expressed dissatisfaction with the contractors for the delay in the execution of projects. He emphasised that no road construction should be delayed. Meanwhile, officials informed the chief minister that 770 km of roads were completed during the last fiscal year under NHAI and MoRTH with an investment outlay of 11,325 crore. The state has a total of 8,744 km of roads, including 4,406 km of NHAI roads, 641 km under PIU-MoRTH, and 3,697 km under NH(R&B). Currently, 3,483 km of roads are under construction across 144 projects under NHAI and MoRTH with an investment of Rs 76,856 crore. Some projects are set to begin soon, including 1,392 km under NHAI and 2,091 km under MoRTH. As part of the 'Mission Pothole-Free Roads' initiative launched by the chief minister in November last year with 860.81 crore, officials explained that 97% of the work was completed as of June 6. They stated that potholes have been filled, and repairs completed on 19,475 km of roads. Officials said the remaining road repairs are expected to be completed by July 31.

'Derogatory' Remarks Against Amaravati: Journalist Who Hosted Show Arrested
Amaravati: Senior Telugu journalist Kommineni Srinivas Rao was arrested in Hyderabad on Monday for hosting a programme on a vernacular channel where a scribe allegedly made derogatory remarks against the greenfield capital city Amaravati, said a police official. Guntur district Superintendent of Police S Satish confirmed that Thullur police from Amaravati have arrested the journalist. "Thullur police have arrested Kommineni Srinivas Rao from Hyderabad over the derogatory remarks against Amaravati," Satish told PTI, adding that the journalist is being brought to Andhra Pradesh from Telangana. VVR Krishna Raju, the journalist, who was also part of the programme, was accused of spewing venom against Amaravati and its women. According to information shared by a source close to the TDP-led NDA government, the duo were booked under BNS Sections 79, 196 (1), 353 (2), 299, 356 (2) and 61 (1) and Section 67 of the IT Act, including Section (1) of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. Meanwhile, YSRCP said that an FIR was registered against Rao four days ago in Thullur police station, accusing him of "failing to intervene during the broadcast", which featured those alleged vitriolic remarks. "Immediately after his arrest, Rao was transferred to Vijayawada. Rao, a senior citizen, questioned the legality of the arrest without explanation," said a note from the YSRCP. Condemning the arrest, YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, called it a "political vendetta". "In any discussion, diverse opinions are natural. Punishing an anchor for guests' statements is not only unjust, it's dangerous," Reddy said in a post on 'X'. The former chief minister questioned the rationale behind punishing a moderator for remarks made by panelists during a televised debate, warning such actions endanger democratic discourse and press freedom. He accused the TDP-led NDA government of suppressing dissent, using fear and intimidation tactics to silence intellectuals, journalists, and opposition voices across the southern state. He alleged that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was "weaponising the state apparatus" to divert public attention from failures, corruption, and broken electoral promises. "You (Naidu) were given five years-one has already passed. The day will come when the people will demand answers for your abuses and injustices," Reddy warned.

Govt. working to turn A.P. into knowledge hub, says Revenue Minister
Minister for Revenue Angani Satya Prasad on Monday said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister for Education Nara Lokesh are working together to turn the State into a knowledge hub. The Minister was presenting 'Shining Stars Awards' to meritorious students at Mahati Auditorium in Tirupati on Monday (June 9). Speaking on the occasion, he said, 'As part of the government's goal to make the State a knowledge hub, we are giving 'Shining Star Awards' to recognise talent and encourage meritorious students who have topped in SSC and intermediate examinations. The government is working to bring changes in the curriculum from kindergarten to post-graduation (KG to PG).' The Minister said that Mr. Lokesh is putting the education system back on track. Mid-day meal scheme is being introduced for intermediate students, model schools are being set up across the State, infrastructure is being developed in educational institutions, he said while adding that priority is being given to skill development and skill census is being conducted for the first time in the country. Mr. Prasad asked all the students to use the incentives being provided by the government and rise to high positions. Alleging that the previous government had destroyed the education system in the State, he said, 'A.P. had been ranked third place in the education sector during the regime of TDP, but it came down to 19th place during the YSRCP rule due to destructive policies.' 'The previous government has bankrupted the State in all sectors. Six lakh people attended the beach festival held in Machilipatnam on Sunday. Flamingo Festival and no other such events were conducted during the YSRCP regime. Due to the blow of the previous government, not only the industries, birds and festivals went away from the State,' the Minister alleged.
