‘Oye, Chagaye Veere': Little Cricketers Break Into Bhangra Over Run-Out

A junior fielding side hilariously erupted in Punjabi folk dance Bhangra on the face of the aggrieved batter after a run-out became inevitable.
Enjoying the best time of their lives, a set of junior cricketers hilariously erupted in a dance together upon dismissing an opposition batter. In a viral clip that brought a smile to faces over the internet, this fielding side started doing Punjabi folk dance Bhangra after a run-out became inevitable in the funniest scenes you will see on a cricket field.
The details of the clip's origin are not known. But what caught the internet's attention is the most amusing celebrations one can imagine for a dismissal. The fielding side started doing Bhangra in front of the disappointed opposition player, who was livid with his teammate following the mix-up that resulted in a run-out.
What Exactly Unfolded Before Bhangra Celebrations
The most hilarious scenes unfolded after an opposition left-hand batter drove the ball to covers and immediately called the non-striker for a run. The two players easily completed the run before a wayward throw came from the deep and evaded the bowler. As the ball went to the other side, the two batters tried to take advantage of the overthrow and committed to a second run.
Midway through his stride, one of the batters realised the second run was not on and called his partner to stay put at the batting end. But it was too late, as this poor guy had by then over-ran his mark. The two players were soon left stranded at one end while the wicketkeeper eventually picked up the throw.
Just as this player felt aggrieved and looked at his partner with a great sense of bitterness, the wicketkeeper and the rest of the fielders rubbed salt into his wounds by doing Bhangra in the middle before executing the run-out. The sight of the two batters arguing, with the fielding side shaking their leg in the backdrop, was too funny for internet users.
Internet Users Love Bhangra Celebrations Of Junior Cricketers
The clip took internet users back to their childhood, when they used to have fun playing cricket with their friends and develop lifelong memories.
'Made my day. Our school keeper was crazy too, he'd call for a run pretending to be the batsman and the runner would come sprinting, and he'll run him@out at the non-striker. And then do a Marathi dance . Hahah. Fun days and this team@reminded me of this," wrote one user.
Some raised concerns over the spirit of cricket from the fielding side that mocked the opposition player indirectly. 'Game is great leveller, they will get tougher lesson when time comes," this user commented.
For the majority, though, it was a lighthearted moment and should be taken accordingly. One person summed up, 'People saying zero sportsmanship, I only see kids enjoying their sport, I dont think it was anything personal, they were just enjoying."
'WK is full of swag the way he takes the bails off in the end," another user said.

Awards for mandals, drone shows: Govt gears up grand celebration of Ganeshotsav

To celebrate the ten-day Ganeshotsav, which begins from August 27, the Maharashtra government is planning to organise an array of programmes including competitions for Ganpati mandals and drone shows. The state government has dedicated around Rs 11 crore for this, Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar said Friday. In July, the government had announced Ganeshotsav as the state festival. 'As per the government's decision, we have announced awards for Ganesh mandals that adhere to religious traditions and also promote eco-friendly practices. A drone show will be organised at Girgaon Chowpatty. Public spaces across Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Mumbai and other parts of the state will be illuminated to mark the occasion,' Shelar said. From this year, a dedicated digital platform will be created for streaming of prominent temples and sarvajanik Ganeshotsav mandals across the state. 'We are also introducing schemes to provide financial grants for devotional materials for bhajan mandals during the festival. We are committed to ensuring that the arrival of Lord Ganesha is celebrated with grandeur not only in Maharashtra but also abroad,' the minister said. The state government has issued two government resolutions outlining competitions and various programmes, planning and coordination of which will be carried out by PL Deshpande Kala Academy and the Directorate of Cultural Affairs. As part of the declaration of Ganeshotsav as the state festival, a logo will also be unveiled. Among the events planned for the celebrations are cultural programmes to showcase the state's art, culture and traditions, which will be held not only in Maharashtra, but also in other states and even in select foreign countries with significant Marathi-speaking communities. The government will also provide special recognition to films depicting Ganpati traditions, art and culture. Ganpati-themed postage stamps and coins will be released as part of the celebrations. The government will also arrange transport facilities for domestic and international tourists during the visarjan (immersion) ceremony.

Deputy CM Shinde inaugurates renovated Gadkari auditorium in Thane

Thane, Aug 15 (PTI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday inaugurated the renovated Ram Ganesh Gadkari Rangayatan drama theatre, a cultural landmark in Thane city, which is now equipped with modern amenities. Speaking on the occasion, Shinde said this auditorium was a project envisioned by Shiv Sena founder late Bal Thackeray in 1977. 'Gadkari Rangayatan is more than just a building. It is the heart of Thane city and a treasure of culture and arts. It is the crown jewel of the city," Shinde said. There would be no dearth of funds for the promotion of arts. Theatres must meet the needs of both artists and audiences, he said. In order to carry out meaningful projects, one must go beyond partisan politics, Shinde said. 'For doing good things, one should go beyond politics. For that, a strong political will is required," he said. He listed several ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects in the region as examples of this commitment. The trial run of Metro train (10.50 km) in Thane is scheduled for September and its services are expected to begin by December. By next year, it will go up to Wadala, then from Gaimukh to Dahisar, Mira Bhayandar, he said. Shinde also directed the municipal commissioner to form a special team to ensure the cleanliness of the theatre, stressing that a building's reputation is built on its maintenance. Marathi actor Suhas Joshi and artist Ashok Hande were also present on the occasion. PTI COR NP view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
