WRO India National Championship kicks off Sept 5
GMR Aerocity has come on board as the Platinum Sponsor of this prestigious event, which will bring together the country's brightest young minds in robotics, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL) announced in a press release today.
Serving as the national finale of the WRO India 2025 season, the championship—centered around the theme 'The Future of Robots'—will identify top-performing teams that will go on to represent India at the WRO International Championship in Singapore.
As the World Robot Olympiad marks its 19th year on the global stage, WRO India 2025 invites students aged 8 to 19 to participate in this distinguished competition. With its futuristic theme, the event offers a platform for young innovators to engage with advanced robotics and cutting-edge technologies.
Participants will be challenged to conceptualize, design, and program autonomous robotic solutions that tackle real-world problems, enhance quality of life, and drive innovation across various industries.

Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been awarded the Level 1 Accessibility Accreditation by Airports Council International (ACI) World. The ACI Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation Programme is a global initiative aimed at helping airports evaluate and improve their accessibility standards. The Level 1 certification, regarded as the foundational stage, focuses on identifying barriers, assessing current facilities and services, and initiating the implementation of internationally accepted best practices for accessibility. According to a press release, RGIA was assessed across several key areas, including physical infrastructure such as ramps, accessible restrooms, and clear signage, passenger services like communication aids and dedicated assistance programmes; staff training; and the airport's overall organisational commitment to inclusivity. 'Our goal is to ensure that every traveller, regardless of physical or cognitive ability, feels welcomed, supported and empowered. The ACI Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation Programme is a global initiative designed to help airports assess and improve their accessibility standards, a GMR release said. Level 1 serves as the foundational tier, guiding airports to identify existing barriers, evaluate current infrastructure and services, and begin implementing internationally recognised best practices, it said. RGIA was assessed on key parameters, including physical infrastructure (such as ramps, signage, and accessible restrooms), passenger services (including assistance programmes and communication aids), staff training, and the airport's organisational culture and leadership commitment to 'inclusivity", it said. The prestigious recognition marks a major milestone in RGIA's journey towards creating a more inclusive, accessible, and dignified travel experience for all passengers, including those with disabilities and reduced mobility, the release said.
