PM Modi to inaugurate Kartavya Bhavan: A look at traffic guidelines in Delhi today
An advisory has been issued for key routes on Kartavya Path and C-Hexagon from 5 pm to 9 pm. The adivsory cites a 'special event', and directs to avoid some routes, including Janpath, Mansingh Road, Maulana Azad Road, and Rajender Prasad Road.
'No vehicle will be allowed to halt or park anywhere on Janpath, Mansingh Road, C-Hexagon and surrounding areas mentioned in the 'Routes to Avoid' section,' the advisory said.
Routes to avoid
The routes to avoid include, Janpath and surrounding areas, including Maulana Azad Road, Mansingh Road, Rajender Prasad Road, and roads near Jaswant Singh Road.
Further, if any vehicle is found to be parked on the above roads, it will be towed and prosecuted for disobedience of lawful instructions and improper parking, the advisory said. All the towed vehicles will be parked in the traffic pit in front of Bhairo Mandir, which lies on Bhairon Marg.
Traffic diversions have also been placed to manage the movement of vehicles. The diversion points include roads around Moti Lal Nehru Palace, Mansingh Road, Jaswant Singh Road, and Windsor Road.

Advisory for commuters
Commuters taking these routes have been advised to avoid the Pragati Maidan tunnels leading towards India Gate. They can also make maximum use of public transport, which will be operational.
Those travelling towards ISBTs, Railway Stations, or Airports are advised to plan their travel carefully and allow sufficient time for travelling.
The police have also urged motorists to remain patient and adhere to the traffic rules and cooperate with the traffic personnel for a smooth travel.
Kartavya Bhavan inauguration
PM Modi is set to inaugurate the Kartavya Bhavan, a key part of the Central Vista Project, conceived in 2019. The building will house offices of key ministries, including home, external affairs, petroleum and natural gas, and other offices of the principal scientific advisor to the PM.
The Central Vista Project is an effort by the PM to leave an architectural legacy and replace the earlier mix of colonial-era architecture.

Nagai–Kankesanthurai ferry completes one year, carries over 20,000 passengers
Nagapattinam: The passenger ferry service between Nagapattinam and Kankesanthurai (KKS) in Sri Lanka marked its first anniversary on Friday, having carried 20,641 travellers in 160 round trips over the past year. The service is operated by Subham Ferry, a subsidiary of Subham Group, using the vessel Sivagangai. Chairperson Sundarraj Ponnusamy said passenger numbers have grown steadily, boosting tourism, trade, and cultural ties between the two countries. In its first year, 10,825 passengers sailed from Nagapattinam to KKS and 9,816 from KKS to Nagapattinam. The highest single-day bookings were on Aug 13, when 152 people travelled from India, and on Oct 29, 2024, when 141 passengers came from Sri Lanka. On Saturday, Subham Ferry and the crew marked the start of the second year by distributing sweets and souvenirs to passengers at Nagapattinam Port. The company has announced a special package for students, offering a three-day tour in India or Sri Lanka along with a round-trip ticket for ₹9,999. The Nagapattinam–KKS link was relaunched in Oct 2023 after a 40-year gap, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off the service virtually. Initially run briefly by the Shipping Corporation of India, it was taken over by Subham Group in Aug 2024. The Sivagangai resumed operations in February this year after a short suspension. With passenger demand rising, the ferry now operates six days a week, up from three. "We aim to increase trips to over 200 next year and expect passenger numbers to cross 30,000," Ponnusamy said. Over 350 delays, 15 go-arounds, 2 diversions: Flight operations hit in Mumbai amid heavy rain
Over 350 flights were delayed, two diverted and over a dozen had to go-arounds amid unfavourable weather at the Mumbai airport on Saturday. Several flights were delayed and others diverted amid heavy rain in Mumbai on Saturday. (For representation/Hindustan Times) Sources in Mumbai Airport said that 15 aircraft bound for the city had to execute go-arounds on Saturday morning, while two flights were diverted to Nagpur and Ahmedabad. The diversions and go-around were made between 12 am and 6 am on Saturday. According to the data from Flightradar, 283 departing flights from the Mumbai Airport were delayed, while 77 inbound flights were running behind schedule. The flight disruptions come as Mumbai received heavy downpour in the early hours of Saturday. The downpour which began at around 1 am on Saturday, continued in the day, with parts of the city receiving over 200 mm of rain. An IndiGo Airbus A321 aircraft's tail touched the runway at Mumbai Airport during a low-altitude go-around. "On August 16, 2025, an IndiGo Airbus A321 aircraft tail touched the runway while executing a low-altitude go-around due to unfavourable weather conditions in Mumbai. Thereafter, the aircraft carried out another approach and landed safely," a statement from the Indigo Spokesperson said. The airline said that the aircraft will go through necessary checks, repairs and regulatory clearance before resuming operations.

PM Modi To Inaugurate Delhi Section Of Dwarka Expressway Tomorrow: Key Details
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) on Sunday. The new infrastructure links are expected to ease connectivity between Noida and Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Travel Time Cut Drastically At present, commuters from Noida to IGI Airport face journeys of over an hour, often longer during rush hour. With UER-2 and the Dwarka Expressway in place, the same trip is expected to take around 20 minutes. Length And Alignment The Dwarka Expressway stretches 29 kilometres in total. Of this, 10.1 kilometres lie within Delhi, while the remaining 18.9 kilometres fall in Haryana. The Expressway links Mahipalpur in the capital to Kherki Daula in Gurugram. Cost And Construction Built at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore, the expressway was developed in four construction packages. It has been designed to handle heavy volumes of traffic and reduce dependence on existing congested corridors. Highway Design The expressway is an eight-lane, grade-separated highway, with a provision for three-lane service roads on both sides. It has multi-level interchanges and underpasses at various junctions, ensuring smoother vehicular movement. Multi-Level Design Nearly three-fourths of the Dwarka Expressway's stretch runs on elevated tracks, keeping it fully segregated from city traffic. Vehicles move across three levels. These include the elevated expressway, surface roads and a network of underpasses. Smart Tolling Plans The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids to introduce multi-lane free flow (MLFF) tolling. Connectivity To IGI Airport A major feature of the project is a tunnel linking the expressway directly to Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Delhi section underwent trial runs of tunnels and underpasses earlier this year, in May, ahead of today's inauguration. Haryana Section Already Operational The Haryana portion of the expressway was inaugurated by PM Modi in March 2024. It is India's first expressway built on single pillars, and comes equipped with multiple service roads and underpasses to aid traffic flow.
