Pawan Kalyan highlights India's Economic Milestone at NDA Meeting
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has proclaimed that India has ascended to the position of the fourth-largest economy globally, attributing this milestone to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the progressive governance of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government since 2014. Kalyan noted that India's GDP has reached an impressive 4.18 trillion, as reported by NITI Aayog.
He highlighted that this historic achievement can be credited to four key drivers of growth during the last decade: innovation, infrastructure, inclusion, and digital transformation. Kalyan remarked that this development is a significant step towards India becoming the third-largest economy in the world, moving towards the vision of Vikasit Bharat by 2047. He shared his thoughts on social media, emphasising the importance of this achievement.
Meanwhile, a meeting of NDA alliance partners convened today at the Ashoka Hotel in Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Modi. This gathering marked the one-year anniversary of the NDA's third consecutive term in office. During the meeting, Modi engaged in discussions regarding a range of topics, including the government's accomplishments over the past year, Operation Sindoor, and national security.
Prominent figures such as JP Nadda, Amit Shah, and Rajnath Singh, along with Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states, attended the meeting. Notably, Pawan Kalyan represented Andhra Pradesh, while CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu was unable to attend due to prior commitments. The meeting featured presentations from various state CMs showcasing best practices and policies implemented in NDA-governed regions.

Centre gives nod for weapons that outgun Pakistan's arsenal
Even as national security planners and military chiefs celebrated one month of Operation Sindoor on Saturday evening, HT learns that the defence ministry has given the green signal to the three services to replenish inventory with longer-range loitering ammunition, artillery shells, kamikaze drones and beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles that out-range the Chinese missiles used by Pakistan during the four day high intensity skirmish. According to people familiar with the matter and on the basis of action taken reports and damage assessment undertaken by the three services, there is digital evidence to conclude that the Indian Air Force (IAF) fighters, surface-to-air missile batteries and S-400 air defence system downed four Pakistani Chinese-made fighter jets and two big aircraft (possibly one C-130 J and one SAAB 2000 airborne early warning system) during Operation Sindoor. There are also indications, the people added, that two F-16 fighter aircraft may have been partly damaged during the IAF's missile assault on 11 airbases, including those at Sargodha, Rafiqui, Jacobabad and Nur Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi). The reports indicate that India's Rafale fighters, S-400 missile systems and M777 howitzers acquitted themselves well during the four-day conflict with the Russian air defence system taking three enemy aircraft. They also show that India destroyed one Chinese LY-80 fire radar, two AN TPQ-43 US-made automatic tracking radar and one fire unit of Chinese HQ-9 radar at Chaklala during the retaliatory strike on May 10. Intelligence inputs now suggest that Pakistan has four HQ-9 (the Chinese equivalent of the Russian S-300 air defence radars) instead of two originally estimated by national security planners. The Pakistani military used the Chinese version of PL -15 air to air missile which has a range of 180 are also inputs that the Pakistanis, by mixing two fire units of 250-km range HQ 9 air defence system with two other 150-km range systems at Chaklala and Malir cantonment near Karachi, respectively, may have tried to catch the Indian Air Force by surprise. The Action Taken Reports also show that IAF fired 19 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles on Pakistan air bases and almost an equal number of French SCALP subsonic cruise missiles. The Pakistanis, in turn, fired CM-400 AKG air-launched supersonic missiles at Indian air bases using Chinese JF-17 fighters but these failed to do any damage. The Turkish built YIHA loitering ammunition that Pakistanis fired in large numbers were either jammed by the Indian electronic warfare suite, missed their targets, or were taken down by India's robust air defence system. Even the FATAH-1 rockets fired by Pakistan were either off the mark or were intercepted by the Indian air defence systems. HT learns that there is now adequate evidence that India's first counter-terror strike on May 7 was a success as Markaz-e-Taiba (the LeT headquarters at Muridke) was hit by four to five Crystal Maze missiles, which show a small entry point but damage the facility within. The Jaish-e-Mohammed facility at Markaz-e-Subhan Allah was hit by 6 SCALP missiles launched from Rafale fighters and totally destroyed the terror factory through pin-pointed strike using bunker busting techniques. The US-made Excalibur ammunition used by M-777 howitzers of the Indian Army destroyed the tier 2 defences of the Pakistan Army across the LoC as did India's Polish-made loitering extended range ammunition. The Indian Air Force and Indian Navy used Israeli loitering ammunition to destroy terror camps in Occupied Kashmir on May 7. Between the launch of the operation in the early hours of May 7 and the ceasefire on the evening of May 10, Indian forces bombed nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK and killed at least 100 terrorists, and the Indian Air Force struck targets at 13 Pakistani air bases and military installations. On Tuesday, it emerged that India's targeting of locations within Pakistan during the May 7-10 clash was more extensive than was previously known, with a Pakistani document acknowledging that Indian drones had struck locations ranging from Peshawar in the northwest to Hyderabad in the south. Pakistan's Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, which was mounted in response to Operation Sindoor, 'folded in eight hours' on May 10 belying Islamabad's ambitious target of bringing India to its knees in 48 hours, chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan said on Tuesday. The action taken reports as well as the immediate emphasis on replenishment suggest that the Indian forces are aware, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly said, that Operation Sindoor isn't over.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu calls for victory rallies on June 12 to mark one year of NDA rule in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has called upon the party leaders to organise victory rallies in all the constituencies on June 12 marking the completion of one year of the NDA rule in the State, and says he will discuss the way forward in a meeting of the MPs and MLAs of the TDP, JSP and BJP the same day. Addressing a teleconference with the Ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs on Saturday, Mr. Naidu said the welfare schemes and development activities should be explained to the people to let them know how the NDA was undoing the damage that had been done by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in 2019-24, when the State lost its reputation and was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. The NDA could bring about a welcome change in the last one year and it had to sustain the positive momentum for the next four years. Mr. Naidu said he was getting the impact of the performance of the government and the TDP assessed from time to time in order to make up for any shortcomings. Also, the party was tracking how the leaders were functioning, on the basis of which they would be encouraged to do better, or set aside from their roles, he said. He observed that most of the MLAs and MPs got closer to the people through their work and brought good name for the party and government. 'The government cannot afford to let administrative mistakes cost its image. In this regard, the Ministers and other elected representatives must be vigilant,' he observed. The NDA was moving forward with all its strength to rebuild the State that had been destroyed by the YSRCP, which was apparently trying to throw a spanner in the works even after suffering an ignominious defeat in the general elections, he said. However, the NDA would not budge from its mission to make Andhra Pradesh a progressive State, Mr. Naidu asserted. The government was committed to completing the Polavaram project by 2027, and the State could secure a financial package of ₹11,400 crore for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), while the ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel was preparing to set up a massive plant in Anakapalli district, he said.

Focus is on enhancing diagnostic equipment in government hospitals, says Health Minister
The TDP-led NDA government in the State has evolved an action plan aimed at infusing a sense of discipline among doctors, bringing a change in their conduct towards patients and enhancing diagnostic equipment in government hospitals, according to Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav. Addressing the media in Vijayawada on Saturday (June 7, 2025), the Minister took a jibe at the YSRCP, and said the NDA did not consider people who voted against them as 'back stabbers'. 'We try to fulfil the promises made to the people. We have worked with accountability and responsibility,' he said. Giving an account of the changes in the Primary Health sector, the Minister said, in recognition of the State's efforts in improving the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored schemes at the village level, the Centre sanctioned ₹100 crore for the State towards performance incentive. 'This is not a small thing. During the past five years, the Centre did not give any such incentive,' the Minister said, adding the present government secured funds, to the tune of ₹1,065 crore, from the Centre for construction of 3,318 buildings of Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs in the State. At present, many were being run in rented spaces. Pointing out that timely and reliable diagnostic confirmation of diseases was the first step in ensuring healthcare for all, he said the government procured more than 3,200 diagnostic equipment in the past one year and decided to conduct 47 types of diagnostic tests at the doorstep of the people through the '104' service vehicles. Referring to the Tirumala laddu episode, the Minister said the government was focussing on opening drug testing laboratories in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kurnool. New labs had been sanctioned for Tirumala, Eluru and Ongole. In line with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's vision of digitising healthcare, the Minister said an MoU had been signed with the Bill Gates Foundation for setting up Digital Health Command and Care Centre, strengthening Telemedicine services, supply chain management for drugs and consumables. Giving numbers as 'stastical evidence' of the change brought in by the present government, he said the attendance of doctors and other medical staff had increased by about 7.42% to 14.20%, OP services increased by about 8%, In-Patient (IP) services saw an improvement of 4% to 17.61%, lab tests saw an increase of 7.20%. He added that various surveys had shown that the public perception regarding availability of doctors in Government General Hospitals, their attitude, supply of free medicines improved. Talking about further plans, the Minister said the universal health insurance of up to ₹25 lakh would be rolled out soon. During an interaction with the mediapersons, the Minister said the COVID situation was not alarming in the State and that there were no restrictions on gathering. 'We have N95 masks, oxygen cylinders, beds, wards ready. However, the situation is not alarming and there is nothing to worry,' he said, adding that only those with comorbidities need to be extra careful. Health Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu and Commissioner G. Veerapandian were present.
