Report: Wirtz to undergo medical checks with Liverpool on Friday

Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz is to undergo medical checks with Liverpool on Friday ahead of completing his transfer to the Premier League champions, the online news portal The Athletic reported on Monday.
Liverpool have reportedly agreed a fee of €136.3 million ($157.9 million) with €117.5 million due upfront and a further €18.8 million in potential add-ons to sign the Germany international.

It represents a club-record purchase for Liverpool and sale for Leverkusen, and would be a British transfer record if the add-ons are achieved.
Leverkusen had reportedly set a €150 million fee for the 22-year-old talent, which Liverpool didn't plan to meet.
Wirtz has a contract with Leverkusen until June 2027. He had also been targeted by German champions Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians were informed that he preferred a move to Liverpool.

Chelsea win Club World Cup opener against LAFC in front of empty seats

His curling strike looked to have Sanchez scrambling but former Blues forward Olivier Giroud accidentally got himself in the way of the effort. Chelsea almost doubled their advantage after the interval, Neto's teasing cross found Jackson who headed on target but Timothy Tillman proved to be the saviour on the line to keep the deficit at one. New signing Delap was introduced for his Chelsea debut in the 63rd minute and instantly made an impact. He almost made a second with his dazzling footwork on the byline but his pass into the box was snuffed out. Chelsea continued to probe in search of a two-goal cushion and they found it in the 79th minute – Delap got the assist as he hung a ball into the middle of the box and Fernandez was waiting to tap home.

Tiafoe upset by local wild card at Queen's Club
LONDON (AP) — British wild card Dan Evans upset world No. 13 Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 6-2 on Monday for his first win at Queen's Club since 2021. The UK-US trade deal has been signed and is 'done', US President Donald Trump said as he met with Sir Keir Starmer at the G7 summit. The Prime Minister said the completed deal 'implements on car tariffs and aerospace', and described the agreement as a 'sign of strength' between Britain and America. In recent months, the UK has held a series of engagements aimed at securing a reduction in the tariffs Mr Trump imposed on Britain and the rest of the world on April 2. Along with 10% tariffs on all British goods, the president imposed 25% levies on cars and steel. He later increased the tariff on steel to 50%, but gave the UK a reprieve, keeping its rate at 25% until at least July 9. Under the broad terms of last month's agreement, the US will implement quotas that will effectively eliminate the tariff on British steel and reduce the tariff on UK vehicles to 10%.
