Skechers launches £45 trainers with hidden compartment for Apple AirTags

Skechers, a trainer brand renowned for its comfort and support, has taken a leap forward with a new children's shoe designed to house an Apple AirTag. This feature allows parents to track their child's movements, marking a significant departure from the brand's usual slip-on trainers or shoes with 'cloud-like' inserts.
The Go Run Elevate range, starting at £45, features a concealed compartment compatible with AirTags under the inner sole. The hidden nature of the compartment may offer parents reassurance as they can monitor their child's location, whether at nursery, in the park, or during a busy day out.
Prices start at £45 for toddler sizes and go up to £55 for boys' and girls' sizes.
However, it is important to note that the AirTag, which is central to the shoe's design, is not included in the price. These must be purchased separately. You can buy a pack of four, reduced from £119 to £89 on Amazon.
Alternatively, Currys offers a pack of four AirTags for £92, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
At a first glance, the price might seem steep, but it actually breaks down to a more affordable £23 per AirTag.
No other brand has launched a line of footwear specifically crafted to house a Bluetooth tracker.
But the concept is gaining traction on social media, with parents threading AirTags into their children's Jordan 1 laces, now retailing at £54.99 at the Nike Store.
When compared to these methods, Skechers' offering appears to be a snugger and more comfortable alternative for embedding an AirTag within footwear, complete with a cosy design.
The Go Run Elevate series boasts adaptive materials and includes an instep strap for added convenience.
With the design being relatively new, there aren't many comments yet, but the feedback from consumers has been largely favourable, with the handful of reviews posted so far praising the shoes' comfort and functionality.
A glowing five-star review stated: "The idea of this product is awesome, and Skechers are comfortable and offer good quality for a great price.
"The fact that someone gave this product a one-star rating based on a suggestion to make these for adults didn't sit well with me."
Another buyer remarked on how their child found the shoe 'so comfortable to wear'.
Although a majority of purchasers are supportive of the design for their kids, it's sparked some controversy and debate.
On Reddit, some users have expressed reservations about the design, with one individual commenting: "This is weird since Apple doesn't recommend using AirTags to track one's kids."

Covid hero Capt Sir Tom Moore's daughter reveals plans to write TEN more books

Hannah Ingram-Moore, 54 - who faced criticism for her handling of Capt Sir Tom Moore's legacy - is writing a slew of wellness and business books, plus her autobiography and kids' works The daughter of Captain Sir Tom Moore is set to release another 10 books despite being criticised over her handling of the hero's legacy. ‌ Fallen fundraiser Hannah Ingram-Moore, 54, is writing a slew of wellness and business books, plus her autobiography and kids' works. She has just penned the £8.99 tome Grief: Public Face Private Loss. It is described as a 'compassionate guide to ease loneliness, address the fear of lost memories, navigate emotions, and honour loved ones with insights from my personal journey'. ‌ But sales have been sluggish and it currently sits at number 696,973 in the Amazon sales charts and has a 2.8 out of 5 rating. However, she is undeterred about putting pen to paper again and reveals on her website: 'I am currently working on over ten new titles, each shaped by different parts of my life and perspective; among them are: personal resilience, business resilience, business success, personal branding, reclaiming wellness, leadership and legacy-building, animal rescue and the dogs who've changed my life, children's books about kindness, empathy, and strength ‌ 'And, when the time is right, my full autobiography. Each of these books is driven by the same desire: to tell the truth with grace, and to create space for others to do the same. I never set out to be an author, but as my journey unfolded, I realised the power of using my voice with intention and the importance of telling stories that truly matter. 'Writing has become my refuge, a space for reflection, and a means to offer something enduring. I hope you discover something within these pages that resonates with you and perhaps even assists you in rediscovering your own voice, too.' Mrs Ingram Moore sparked controversy after she and husband Colin pocketed cash from a previous book deal – giving none to Capt Tom's good cause. A damning Charity Commission report last November found it was among moves by the Ingram-Moores to cash in on the fame of Capt Tom, who died in 2021. ‌ The couple were also ordered to demolish a luxury spa that had been built in the grounds of their home in Marston Moretaine, Beds., using the Captain Tom Foundation charity name. Capt Tom – knighted before his death - raised nearly £39 million for NHS charities by completing 100 lockdown laps of the family's garden using a walking aid. Publishers Penguin then agreed to pay a £1.4 million advance to the Ingram-Moore's private company for Captain Tom's memoir on the understanding a contribution would be made to charity. In the prologue to Tomorrow Will Be a Good Day, Capt Tom – who died aged 100 – wrote: 'I have also been given the chance to raise even more money for the charitable foundation established in my name.' Mrs Ingram-Moore later defended the decision to keep profits from his books, which also included Life Lessons and One Hundred Steps. Most of the money from them went into the family company, Club Nook. Earlier this year Mrs Ingram-Moore told the BBC she was sorry if the public felt misled. She said: "I genuinely am. But there was never any attempt to mislead and if there was any misleading it wasn't our doing."

Ezviz RS20 Max review – powerful robot vacuum with detachable mops

The Ezviz RS20 Max is an impressive high-end robot vacuum with some very clever features | Ezviz This article contains affiliate links. We may earn a small commission on items purchased through this article, but that does not affect our editorial judgement. The Ezviz RS20 Max sets itself apart with detachable mops, powerful suction, and a built-in camera that doubles as home security. Sign up to our daily newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Did you know with a Digital Subscription to Edinburgh News, you can get unlimited access to the website including our premium content, as well as benefiting from fewer ads, loyalty rewards and much more. Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... In the impressive world of flagship robot vacuums, innovation has been a bit slow recently. Most premium devices now have a wet mopping function, with spinning mop heads that can be washed at the base. LiDar is a common feature, anti-tangle technology usually shows up in some form and, of course, they empty and fill their own waste containers. It leaves you with a tricky decision to make if you do want to invest in the best robot vacuums in the market, and the huge discounts offered by some brands make it all the more testing. I've spent several weeks testing the Ezviz RS20 Max, and it's priced currently at £499 (if you can catch a deal on Amazon) and that makes it a contender in the battle for the high-spec household robots. It's a big unit. Not only is the robot itself a fair size, but the base station is a monster - it has two water tanks; one for dirty and one for clean, and then a large waste bin. The main reason for its size, though, is its clever mop-washing and drying system. Sure, the likes of Eufy fit a mop-washing station into a smaller base, but the Ezviz RS20 Max has a trick up its sleeve. Unlike pretty much any other robot vacuum on the market, the RS20 Max can shed its two mop heads, and leave them in the base. It has the ability to self-detach its two mop heads whenever it detects carpet | Ezviz This means there's no soggy fabric being dragged behind it. That's never a problem on hard surfaces because they're always lifted away, but it's always been an issue for people with a mix of carpet and hard floors. You'll know what I mean if you've ever seen soggy patches on the edge of a rug. It's such a simple idea, but brilliantly executed by Ezviz, and it's one of two key innovations in the RS20 Max. Another clever feature that's rarely seen is access to the on-board camera. Through the accompanying app, you can send the robot out on its travels and watch where it's going in real time. The use case for this is impressive. It effectively turns your robot into a home security system. Paranoid about an intruder? Just send your little sentry out on duty. Need to keep an eye on a pet or family member? Just monitor them on the app. This would be little more than a mere gimmick if the vacuuming and mopping functions were lacklustre, but thankfully, they're not. It's a sizeable device, but quite low-profile In fact, with 13,000Pa of suction, the RS20 Max is one of the more powerful robot vacuums out there. And its CutFree brush system had no issues with my labradoodle's fur offerings. The mopping function is perhaps less impressive, but I've yet to find a robot mopping system that properly wows me. And the fact that the robot will dash off and drop off its tools at the base station automatically if it detects a carpet is such a clever bit of tech. It's also one of the most impressive mop washing systems I've tested too. Perhaps because they can be detached, they're washed and dried incredibly effectively, and surprisingly quickly. The obstacle avoidance system is very clever, and its LiDar system maps your house very well, but its low profile can cause issues on thick rugs. Mine has got stuck a few times. Battery life is decent, and it's not too noisy, even while it's on the base station having a quick charge up and refresh. It can sometimes get stuck on rugs, but usually it sorts itself out | Ezviz So in just about every measurable way, the Ezviz RS20 Max is as impressive as a £500 robot vacuum needs to be. It does a great job of mopping, it has powerful suction, the app is great, it's easy to set up, and it's easy to live with. The detachable wash pads will only be of use to someone who has a share of carpet and hard floors, or perhaps hard floors and some rugs, and it'll be up to you to decide how useful the camera surveillance system is. If you do happen to be lucky enough to be looking around for a top-spec robot vacuum, you'll know how tricky the decision is. And, I'm sorry to say, Ezviz has just made it a little bit harder.
