'Son of Sardaar 2' Box Office collection day 8: Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's film holds steady as it nears Rs 35 crore mark in India; faces tough fight from ‘Saiyaara' and ‘Mahavatar Narsimha'
Ajay Devgn 's 'Son of Sardaar 2' has just crossed its first week at the box office with steady but slow growth. The film has done better than 'Dhadak 2' but still hasn't reached the Rs 50 crore mark after eight days. While it has held its own, it's far from being a big hit. Day 8 earnings and total collections According to early estimates from Sacnilk, 'Son of Sardaar 2' earned Rs 1.15 crore on Friday (Day 8), taking its total India net collection to Rs 34.15 crore in eight days. Here's how the film performed day by day: Day 1 (Friday): Rs 7.25 crore Day 2 (Saturday): Rs 8.25 crore Day 3 (Sunday): Rs 9.25 crore Day 4 (Monday): Rs 2.35 crore Day 5 (Tuesday): Rs 2.75 crore Day 6 (Wednesday): Rs 1.64 crore Day 7 (Thursday): Rs 1.40 crore Day 8 (Friday): Rs 1.15 crore (early estimate) Total after 8 days: Rs 34.15 crore The film's best days were the first weekend, as usual, but collections dropped sharply during the week. Still, it is managing to keep a small but steady audience. Occupancy on day 9 On Day 9 (Friday, 8 August 2025), 'Son of Sardaar 2' recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of just 10.48%, as per Sacnilk. Morning shows saw a low turnout of 5.59%, which slightly improved to 8.75% in the afternoon. Evening shows drew 10.78% occupancy, while night shows performed the best at 16.79% Facing strong competition from 'Saiyaara' and ' Mahavatar Narsimha ' One big reason for 'Son of Sardaar 2's modest numbers is the tough competition at the box office. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Become Fluent in Any Language Talkpal AI Undo According to Sacnilk, 'Saiyaara' is still going strong, earning Rs 1.65 crore on 8 August alone, with a huge total of Rs 310.40 crore. That's a lot for a film already out for weeks. Meanwhile, 'Dhadak 2' earned only Rs 60 lakh on the same day, with a total of Rs 17.30 crore, which is less than 'Son of Sardaar 2'. Another big performer is 'Mahavatar Narsimha', which made Rs 8 crore on Friday, pushing its total to Rs 126.25 crore. With these films pulling large crowds, 'Son of Sardaar 2' has a tough time attracting more viewers. ' War 2 ' arrives next week The biggest challenge for 'Son of Sardaar 2' will come next week when the much-awaited 'War 2' starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR releases on 14 August. This big-budget action drama is expected to dominate ticket sales and will likely make it even harder for 'Son of Sardaar 2' to hold its screens and audiences. About 'Son of Sardaar 2' In 'Son of Sardaar 2', Ajay Devgn returns as Jassi Singh Randhawa. This time, Jassi travels to Scotland to make peace with his estranged wife. But things don't go as planned. He gets caught up in mafia fights, a loud Punjabi wedding, and even a hostage crisis. It's a mix of comedy, action, and drama. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur , Ravi Kishan , Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Chunky Pandey, Kubbra Sait, Vindu Dara Singh, Mukul Dev, and Ashwini Kalsekar. 'Son of Sardaar 2' review The Times of India gave 'Son of Sardaar 2' a 3-stars. The review says, 'Ajay Devgn is convincing as the endearing and guileless Sardar, shining in both comedy and emotional scenes. Mrunal Thakur, as the fiery and outgoing Rabia, holds her own. Ravi Kishan delivers a knockout performance as the businessman-turned-gangster who is exasperated with his father Ranjeet Singh's (Sharat Saxena) colourful ways. Mukul Dev and Vindu Dara Singh deserve special mention for their strong onscreen chemistry and impeccable comic timing together. Deepak Dobriyal plays the role of a transgener woman perfectly, though Sanjay Mishra remains underutilised, with characterisation that fall short of his talent.'
