Theory emerges as to why Aston Martin 'wouldn't speak to Sky Germany' at the Hungarian GP

Ralf Schumacher has been covering this season's races for the German version of Sky Sports, and was left fuming by Lance Stroll's furious rant about his car Ralf Schumacher's scathing comments on Lance Stroll during the British Grand Prix has sparked speculation that the Sky Sport pundit has been barred from Aston Martin's paddock. The ex-Williams racer has been covering this season's races for the German version of Sky Sports, and was left fuming by Stroll's furious rant about his car. ‌ During Silverstone, Stroll was forced to battle through torrential downpours and difficult circuit conditions, as he moaned about his machinery. Despite securing seventh place in the British GP on July 6, the Canadian continued his tirade against his team and vehicle. ‌ In a final angry outburst, Stroll said: "This is the worst piece of s*** I've ever driven." With Stroll's dad Lawrence owning the Formula 1 outfit he competes for, supporters were baffled by his anger, and Schumacher was equally unimpressed. ‌ The 50-year-old slammed Stroll's meltdown at the time, as he said: "It's completely unacceptable, and very rude." He added: "I'm sure there was a big celebration at the Aston Martin factory when the person who is supposed to be racing ruins it like that. Someone should tell him, 'Sit down, son, and apologise to the team.'" The remark appeared directed at Lawrence, as Michael Schumacher's younger sibling lambasted Stroll for his comments. Now, these actions have seemingly had repercussions for both the former driver and his broadcaster. ‌ Ralf and his broadcasting partner, Peter Hardenacke, subsequently disclosed that the Aston Martin squad had declined to speak with them on Sky Sport Germany both before and after last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix. This prompted speculation that the broadcaster, or perhaps Ralf himself, had been barred from the F1 team's paddock following Silverstone. Schumacher said: "I know, we're currently not being given any interviews because they don't like us very much at the moment," with Hardenacke adding: "We were a bit too critical of the people at Aston Martin." ‌ According to Bild, it is understood that Aston Martin has indicated Sky remains welcome at official FIA occasions. This is due to contractual obligations in F1 agreements preventing drivers or team owners from declining broadcaster interviews. However, Aston Martin are free to police their own hospitality zones throughout the campaign, while post-race discussions also remain entirely at the team's discretion. This isn't the first time Sky has faced an alleged broadcasting boycott from an F1 team. Former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner once declined to give an interview to Sky Sports, citing their overly negative reporting.
