
Toddler dies after fall from 7th floor

PETALING JAYA : A two-year-old toddler died this afternoon after a fall from the seventh floor of an apartment building in Putrajaya.
Putrajaya police chief Aidi Sham Mohamed said a doctor at Putrajaya Hospital had reported around 2.24pm that the child was brought to the emergency department covered in blood.
Checks found that the child had already died.
'Preliminary investigations found that the child fell from the seventh floor of a public housing building in Presint 9, Putrajaya,' he said in a brief statement.

Papar fire and rescue station chief Rozlan Osman said the victim is believed to have climbed the tree and used an iron rod to poke at the mangoes. The rod then came into contact with a nearby electric cable, causing the man to be electrocuted and leaving him unconscious on the tree. 'Firemen proceeded to lower the victim using a ladder and rescue rope after the electricity supply was cut off,' he said when contacted today.

JPJ opens probe paper on lorry company in fatal FRU crash

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The road transport department (JPJ) has opened an investigation paper on the lorry company involved in the accident that took the lives of nine Federal Reserve Unit personnel in Teluk Intan, Perak last month. JPJ senior director (enforcement) Kifli Ma Hassan said the investigation was being conducted under Section 57 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, relating to operator licence conditions. 'JPJ has seized the lorry involved, and the investigating officer has been instructed to complete the investigation paper by the end of this month. 'Once completed, the investigation paper will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,' Bernama quoted him as saying. Klifli said the initial investigation found that the lorry company had violated its permit conditions. 'The lorry company was found to have violated the permit conditions by carrying an unauthorised load, namely rocks, while the approved permit was to transport coal. 'We are still investigating the case and appropriate action will be taken,' he said. On May 12, a lorry collided with a truck carrying 18 FRU members on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampan in Teluk Intan, while they were on their way back to Ipoh. Nine FRU members were killed, while nine others were injured.

Timber lorry driver burns to death after crashing in Bintulu

(Fire and rescue department pic) SIBU : A 57-year-old timber lorry driver was burned to death when his lorry caught fire after it crashed along a timber trail in Samarakan, Bintulu, today. The Sarawak fire and rescue department said the victim was identified as Kanang Inggai. 'The front of the lorry was totally burned while the victim had been trapped and was found burned. The fire had been put out by the company's workers. The firefighters managed to extricate the body at 2.49pm,' it said in a statement.
