State Ministers Urge Collectors to Accelerate Welfare Delivery and Housing Projects: Key Initiatives Reviewed via Statewide Video Conference
On Tuesday, a comprehensive video conference was conducted from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat, Hyderabad, led by the State Government's Chief Secretary Sri Ramakrishna Rao, in the presence of various department principal secretaries, secretaries, and heads of departments. The conference brought together all district collectors across the state.

Hostel Welfare:
In hostels under Social Welfare, BC Welfare, and Minority Welfare departments, nutritious meals are being provided in line with the recently increased diet charges. Regular inspections are being conducted to ensure quality food and proper maintenance of hostels. Cleanliness and greenery are being prioritized within hostel premises.
Indiramma Housing Scheme:
Collector Santhosh confirmed that eligible poor beneficiaries have been sanctioned houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. Constant supervision is underway to ensure speedy construction of houses. He also assured that no shortage of sand is being allowed and that steps have been taken to ensure hassle-free sand transportation for beneficiaries.
Bhoobharati Land Services:
Applications filed under the Bhoobharati program are being addressed promptly and in accordance with established rules and procedures.
Vanamahotsavam (Plantation Drive):
A strategic plan has been drafted to conduct massive plantation drives at the field level as part of the Vanamahotsavam celebrations, aimed at enhancing environmental protection and greenery across the district.

Govt. gives nod to revise cost estimate of Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Scheme project by 48%
HYDERABAD The State Government has decided to revise the estimated cost of the Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Scheme (SRLIS) to ₹19,325 crore from ₹13,058 crore and the revision would benefit 11 constituencies in three districts by creating irrigation potential of 3.29 lakh acres, besides stabilising the 3.45 lakh acres existing ayacut, Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao said. He thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for giving a go-ahead to revise the estimated cost of the project by about 48%. The project would create an irrigation facility to 3.29 lakh acres of new ayacut in 31 mandals of the 11 constituencies in Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Mahabubabad districts. The main canal of the SRLIS was completed for 104 km length and the revised cost would also enable modernisation of distributaries and field channels in the purview of the SRLIS ayacut. The Minister stated that Sattupalli Trunk (tunnel) and Palair link canal was completed till 60 km and work was in progress for the remaining 125 km and would be completed in a year. Stating that tenders were called for eight distributaries and the process of land acquisition would be completed soon by the districts' administration concerned, Mr. Nageswara Rao said that Grama Sabhas and enjoyment survey pertaining to the land acquisition was also in progress. 'All the distributaries and field channels would be completed in two years time,' he added. Plans were afoot to release at least 1,600 cusecs by June-end next to stabilise the 1.21 lakh acres ayacut under Nagarjunasagar Left Canal and benefiting another 10,000 acres by filling water in the minor irrigation tanks. The revised cost would also enable completion of the Yathalakunta tunnel in Package-9 to give water to 120 minor irrigation tanks in December. Further, the revision of estimates had enabled planning taking up Julurupadu tunnel with the target to complete it by 2026-end.

Govind Rao panel to assess development in Kalyana Karnataka region next month
The High Power Committee for Redressal of Regional Imbalance under the chairmanship of M. Govind Rao constituted by the State government for studying the implementation of the Dr. Nanjundappa Committee report will visit the Kalyana Karnataka region in the first week of August to understand the region's current status and recommend strategies for balanced and sustainable development. Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) Chairman Ajay Singh addressing presspersons here on Tuesday said that the Govind Rao committee will visit the region on August 7 and 8 to ascertain the number of taluks that are still backward, more backward and most backward and also to examine various aspects of development, using a range of indicators to assess progress and identify areas needing improvement. Reiterating that Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has approved a ₹5,000-crore action plan for 2025-26 submitted by the KKRDB, Dr. Singh expressed happiness over the early approval for the action plan this year. Earlier, the 2023-24 action plan was cleared in December 2023. Despite a delayed approval, the board has spent ₹2,009 crore in 2023-24. Similarly for 2024-25, the approval came in August and by the end of March 2025, the board has spent ₹3,158 crore, he said. In total, the KKRDB has taken up development works worth ₹5,167 crore over the last two years, he added. New programmes Giving details about the various new programmes to be taken up by KKRDB during 2025-26, Dr. Singh said that an industry hub will be established to promote small-scale industries in Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts with an investment of ₹200 crore from the board and the Small-Scale Industries Department. A sum of ₹100 crore will be allocated for increasing green cover under Aranya Avishkara programme in collaboration with the Forest Department. Under Akshara Avishkara programme, 50 Karnataka Public Schools are being established by the board in the region, besides the 100 KPS schools being built by the State government in the seven districts of the region. The board will also allocate adequate funds for setting up dialysis centers in each district of the region, he said. Replying to a query, Dr. Singh said that the KKRDB has reserved ₹1,500 crore under the Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan and Scheduled Tribes Sub-Plan (SCSP/ TSP). The board will also introduce Jala Bhagya scheme in collaboration with the Minor Irrigation Department to help the farming community. Both the KKRDB and the Minor Irrigation Department will spend ₹100 crore each this year. A sum of ₹400 crore will be spent in 40 taluks of the seven districts in the next two years, Dr. Singh said and added that the board will construct warehouses in all the 40 constituencies of the region at a cost of ₹1.5 crore each.

Bihar Cabinet approves constitution of commission for upliftment of sanitation workers
The Nitish Kumar Government on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) approved the constitution of the Bihar State Safai Karmachari Commission for the all-round socio-economic upliftment of sanitation workers in the State. A meeting of the State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, approved a proposal of the Urban Development and Housing Department in this regard. The decision assumes significance with Assembly polls due to be held later this year. 'The decision to constitute the commission has been taken with an aim to ensure the protection, welfare, rehabilitation, social upliftment, grievance redressal, and monitoring of various welfare schemes for the rights and interests of sanitation workers in the State,' an official said. The Bihar State Safai Karmachari Commission will consist of a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, and five members, including a woman or a transgender person, he said. The commission will play a significant role in integrating the deprived sections of society engaged in sanitation work into the mainstream and contributing to their social and economic development, he added. The CM had announced on Sunday (July 28) that his government had decided to constitute the Bihar State Safai Karmachari Commission. 'This commission will provide suggestions related to the interests of sanitation workers, advise the government on the protection of their rights, and take appropriate action to review and implement welfare schemes related to those engaged in sanitation work,' he had said in a post on X. The State Cabinet also approved a proposal to amend the rules of the Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Yojana 2019 so that all retired journalists, registered with the State Government, receive the increased pension of ₹15,000 per month. Earlier, they used to get ₹6,000 per month. Additionally, in the event of the death of journalists receiving a pension, their dependents will also get a monthly pension of ₹10,000 instead of ₹3,000 for their lifetime. The decision was announced by Mr. Kumar last week. Briefing reporters following the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) S. Siddharth said it was also decided to bring Munger's popular 'Sitakund Mela' under the management of Bihar State Fair Authority. 'Now the Sitakund Mela will be organised under the supervision and management of the State Government,' he said. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Coudhary said the decision was taken in view of the fair's religious, social and cultural significance. 'Lakhs of devotees from Munger and nearby districts, such as Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Begusarai, Saharsa, Purnia and Lakhisarai, participate in the Sitakund Mela. Every year, approximately 5,000 foreign tourists also visit the Sitakund temple for worship and sightseeing,' he said. 'It is believed that this is the place where Goddess Sita entered into the pyre of fire for 'Agni Pariksha',' he added. The 'Sitakund Mela' is organised every year on the occasion of Maghi Purnima, and continues until Phalgun Purnima, lasting for about a month.
