Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni
NEW DELHI: One of India's most crucial all-rounders in recent times,
Ravindra Jadeja
, has revealed that the two most influential figures in his cricketing journey share not just a first name, but also hail from the same state — Bihar.
In a candid conversation on the podcast 'Kutti Stories with Ash', hosted by teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, Jadeja opened up about how both his childhood coach and his legendary mentor
MS Dhoni
have been central to his career.

"My cricketing journey is between two Mahendras — Mahendra Singh Chauhan and
Mahendra Singh Dhoni
," Jadeja said. "I started playing in Jamnagar, at a ground called 'Cricket Bungalow', at the age of 8-9. My coach, who is still training at the same ground, is also from Bihar and his name is Mahendra Singh Chauhan.
I have told this to Mahi bhai as well.'
Jadeja recalled how Chauhan, a former police officer, laid the foundation for his athleticism and on-field agility.
"He used to be a police officer, his mindset was that a sportsperson should be at the peak of his fitness. He used to believe that batting and bowling can be managed but one has to run a lot. My fitness level and fielding skills can be attributed to me running 15-20 kms around Jamnagar," Jadeja shared.

When Ashwin asked him to describe Dhoni in a single word, Jadeja said, "There is no one word to describe his greatness. He is on top of everyone."
Both Jadeja and Ashwin played crucial roles under Dhoni — not just for Team India, but also as key bowlers for
Chennai Super Kings
during the team's IPL dominance.
The discussion also touched upon
Virat Kohli
, India's most successful Test captain, who recently stepped away from the longest format. Jadeja lauded Kohli's unwavering intensity and winning mindset.

"It was his positive approach — especially in Tests — the special thing about Virat is that he always wanted the team to pick 20 wickets in a Test match, so he never gives up at all. Be it a three-hour session or 45 overs left, he would still want to pick up all 10 wickets of the opposition," Jadeja said.
Kohli walked away from Test cricket with an outstanding record — 9,230 runs in 123 matches at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 fifties.

PBKS vs RCB IPL 2025: Netizens excited about Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer clash, say ‘Finally a new champion will be born'

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will lock horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final on Tuesday (June 3) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is inching towards its thrilling climax. The upcoming showdown between these two teams who dominated the entire season, will mark a historic moment. Both franchises are yet to claim an IPL title despite their long-standing presence in the league. And this time, there will be a team clinching their maiden trophy. Fans on social media are eagerly waiting for the clash and for the new champions to be born. Royal Challengers Bengaluru who finished as the runners-up in 2009, 2011, and 2016, will be geared up to play their fourth final in the history of the league. On the other hand, PBKS who reached the Playoffs after 11 years of long wait, have made it to their second IPL final. Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered a commanding eight-wicket victory against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1, to seal a spot in the final. They bundled out the opposition for a mere 101 runs and made a mark with their exceptional form. For RCB, this final is a chance to rewrite history and clinch the trophy for their passionate fanbase, who have been chanting 'Ee Sala Cup Namde' (This time, the cup is ours). Punjab Kings who suffered a massive blow after the defeat against RCB in Qualifier 1, made a comeback in Qualifier 2 and cruised into the summit clash. They have shown remarkable resilience as they defeated Mumbai Indians by five wickets. Shreyas Iyer took the onus on his back and played an explosive knock of 87 off 41 balls. The fans of the franchise waited for a long time to even see their team in the knockout fixtures. PBKS will aim to register a win for their loyal fan base. The RCB vs PBKS clash is expected to be a high-voltage game. RCB's batting depth, with Kohli, Salt, and Patidar are set to face PBKS's versatile bowling attack. On the other hand, PBKS's aggressive batting will test RCB's bowlers on a pitch expected to favour batters. With both teams in top form, the final is set to be a tactical and emotional battle.

Shreyas Iyer scripts history for Punjab Kings in IPL, but he will have to pay a heavy fine

IPL 2025 Shreyas Iyer: Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer delivered one of the most remarkable knocks in the franchise's history to take them into the IPL final after eleven years — but his triumph was also followed by a financial penalty for a slow over rate in the same match. Iyer stayed unbeaten on 87 off just 41 deliveries, guiding PBKS to a five-wicket win over five-time champions Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday. It was a nervy chase of 204, but Iyer's clean hitting and steady leadership ensured Punjab reached the target with an over to spare. This victory means Punjab Kings have reached only their second IPL final, and their first since 2014. But while celebrations continued, the league handed Iyer a fine for breaching the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences. This was Punjab's second such offence of the season. Iyer fined INR 24 lakh, team members penalised too The IPL confirmed that as it was Iyer's second slow over-rate offence this season, he was fined INR 24 lakh. All other members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their individual match fees — whichever was the lesser amount. Live Events Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was also penalised for his team's slow over rate in the same match. Since it was MI's third offence under the same code, Pandya was fined INR 30 lakh. The rest of his team, including the Impact Player, were fined either INR 12 lakh or 50 per cent of their match fees, whichever was lower. Punjab stumble early but Iyer anchors the chase Punjab's chase didn't start smoothly. Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed by Trent Boult for just 6, leaving them at 13/1 in 2.1 overs. Priyansh Arya, though, brought some early momentum with a quick 20 off 10 balls before falling to Ashwani Kumar at 55/2 in 5.1 overs. Josh Inglis joined Iyer at the crease and added to the scoring with a fluent 38 off 21 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. But just when Punjab looked in control, Inglis was dismissed by Hardik Pandya, which briefly disrupted their rhythm. Iyer then found a reliable partner in Nehal Wadhera. The pair stitched together a vital 84-run partnership, keeping the scoreboard moving and the required rate in check. Wadhera fell just short of a fifty, caught for 48 off Ashwani Kumar, but the chase had been stabilised by then. Shashank Singh was run out for 2, but Iyer remained calm. Punjab crossed 100 in 10.3 overs and 150 in 15.1 overs, with Iyer anchoring the innings all the way. He finished the match with a towering six in the 19th over, not only sealing Punjab Kings' passage to the final but also reaffirming his reputation as one of the league's most successful captains. Historic feat for Iyer the captain This final appearance marks Iyer's third time leading a team to an IPL final — each with a different franchise. He had earlier taken Delhi Capitals to the final in 2020 and won the title with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024. He now stands a chance to become a two-time IPL-winning captain, a feat achieved by only a few. For Punjab Kings, the win ended an eleven-year wait for an IPL final berth, and Iyer's innings will be remembered as the one that brought them back to the big stage — even if it also came with a fine.
