"You Hit My Father": Harbhajan Singh Reveals How S Sreesanth's Daughter's Reaction On IPL Slap-Gate Shattered Him

The inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) made several headlines not only because of its unique concept but also due to some controversial moments. The biggest controversy happened when Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh slapped Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) pacer Sreesanth, after a match between the two teams in Mohali. This incident went viral like a wildfire which left the ex-India pacer in tears and Harbhajan was banned from the remained of the tournament. 17 years have passed and both the cricketers have moved on from the incident and share a good relation with each other. On numerous occasions, the former spinner has apologised to Sreesanth for his actions. However, the scars of the incident are still there in Harbhajan's heart and he is not able to get over it. In a recent interaction with ex-India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan revealed a heartbreaking moment when Sreesanth's daughter refused to talk to him because of the 'slapgate' incident. 'One thing I'd want to change in my life is that incident with Sreesanth. I want to remove that incident from my career. That is the incident I would change from my list. What transpired was wrong and I shouldn't have done what I did. I apologised 200 times. What I felt so bad was even years after that incident, I have been apologising every opportunity or stage I get. It was a mistake,' said Harbhajan on Kutti Stories with Ash. 'What hurt me even after many years was when I met his daughter and I was talking to her with a lot of love and she said, 'I don't want to talk to you. You hit my father.' My heart was shattered and I was on the verge of tears. I was asking myself what is the impression I've left on her? She must be thinking of me in a poor light, right? She sees me as the guy who hit her father. I felt so bad. I still apologise to his daughter that I can't do anything,' he added. Both Sreesanth and Harbhajan were a part of India's 2011 World Cup-winning squad.

‘Do you think I am jealous of you?': Harbhajan Singh asks R Ashwin; TN spin legend responds with Washington Sundar ‘perspective'

Veteran India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh's sudden decline on the international stage post the 2011 World Cup was hastened by the rapid success of Tamil Nadu tweaker, R Ashwin. Ashwin went on to dominate the Test circuit for close to 13 years since his debut, racking up a staggering 537 wickets in 106 Tests, even surpassing his senior offie Harbhajan, who had recorded 417 scalps during his 17-year career. Rumours of a rift between the two Indian spin legends had circulated often during their playing days, and both Ashwin and Harbhajan touched upon the sensitive topic during their recent conversation. In a snippet of an upcoming 'Kutti Stories with Ash' episode shared on Instagram, Ashwin asks Harbhajan: 'This whole jealousy bit. Before I allow you to answer that, let me clarify something. People look at everything from their perspective. For example, if they are passing a comment on me, they believe that others would see the world through their eyes. This comment that you are jealous of this person who is interviewing you today — what would that be about Bhajji pa?' 'Do you think I am jealous of you? You are sitting with me today, and we have spoken at length. Do you think I am that kind of person?' responded Harbhajan before Ashwin offered an interesting take on perspectives, justified such an emotion if it ever occurred. A post shared by Kutti Stories with Ash (@crikipidea) Referring to his own Test retirement last year coinciding with the rising stature of his Tamil Nadu statemate Washington Sundar, Ashwin told: 'Even if you were jealous at one point, it is justified. That is my point. I would never take it the wrong way because we are all human. Naturally, it is bound to be like that.' 'Some people believe I retired because of Washington Sundar. He is in the thick of things now. All of this is the perspective of others,' Ashwin added.

‘From earning Rs 600 per day to Team India': The architect Varun Chakaravarthy, who designed his dream

India's Varun Chakravarthy (PTI Photo/Kunal Patil) Indian cricketer Varun Chakaravarthy has opened up about his remarkable career journey before finding success on the cricket field — a path that included stints as an architect, musician, and even a filmmaker. Speaking to Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube show Kutti Stories with Ash , the 33-year-old spinner, who recently played a key role in India's Champions Trophy triumph in Dubai, shared how each twist led him closer to his true calling. Chakaravarthy began his professional life as an assistant architect after college, earning between ₹14,000 and ₹18,000 per month. But the corporate desk was never going to hold him for long. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Right after I completed college, I was working in an architectural company for one and a half years as an assistant architect. I started with around 14k a month, and it was 18k around the time I left,' he said. After quitting architecture, Varun turned to music to rekindle his passion as a guitarist — but reality struck soon enough. 'For a brief stint, I took up guitar as I wanted to rekindle my love for music. But soon I realised that if you want to pursue some art, the love has to come from within. If your goal is to please others or get attention from others, it is never going to work out. I was never able to practice guitar for more than an hour. I realised it only after 6-8 months, and then I decided to stop.' India's Day 2 at the Nets in Edgbaston | IND vs ENG Test Series Next came an entrepreneurial stint: he started his own interior design and construction firm, which ran well for a year until Cyclone Vardha wiped out his investments. Undeterred, Chakaravarthy switched to the film industry, trying his luck as a junior artist. 'Some of my friends were part of the film industry, and I started seeing a lot of movies and accompanying them to shoots to observe what was happening. I went there with the intention of becoming an Assistant Director, but that didn't work out. I couldn't even make a proper pitch. Then one of the ADs asked me if I played cricket. I said, 'Only tennis-ball cricket.' So then I got to act in this movie, where I was signed as a junior artist with a salary of INR 600 per day. And that was pretty helpful at that time.' Quiz: Who's that IPL player? He even tried his hand at filmmaking, directing a few short films while playing tennis-ball cricket on weekends. 'The shoot went for 20 days and I liked the entire process. Then I started writing a few stories, scripts, but when I pitched to a few guys, I realised that I was getting the emotions right, but I wasn't able to translate them as a screenplay. I directed a few short films.' On the cricket field, he has come a long way too. From being selected for the 2021 T20 World Cup to facing injury setbacks, Varun recently made a strong comeback with nine wickets in India's Champions Trophy win. The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner is set to return for India's white-ball fixtures on the Bangladesh tour in August.
