'Cooked' Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma? Jadeja's explosive 'social media' take stirs buzz: 'Earn respect in dressing room'
India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, on Thursday, sparked a stir on the internet after his verdict on the social media culture in the Indian team, leaving fans thinking if it was a veiled dig at Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma. Jadeja's comment came during his conversation with former teammate Ravichandran Ashwin on the YouTube show Kutti Stories with Ash'. During the interaction, the former India cricketer asked Jadeja about his thoughts on judgments passed on social media and fans commenting on a player's form. The former Chennai Super Kings captain admitted that while those comments are unfair, what matters to him is the respect earned in the dressing room from colleagues. "It's unfair because you don't know the player's mindset and personality. People judge based on social media comments. I strongly believe that a player should earn respect in the dressing room. Your social media profile and engagement doesn't matter if you can't gain the respect of your teammates in the dressing room," he said. Ashwin quickly interrupted saying that likes and engagements can now be bought on social media and Jadeja agreed saying that people are engaged in such acts. "Yes, players do buy likes now on social media. Some are organic, some are bought, and the trend nowadays is to buy engagement, which is useless. As a player, what matters more to me is the respect my teammates have for me in the dressing room. And if there is no respect, there is a sense of disconnect that would be there, clearly visible," he added. Jadeja's 'players do buy likes now on social media' comment left the internet thinking it was an indirect jibe at Kohli and Rohit. With the IPL 2025 season over for Jadeja after an early exit for Chennai Super Kings, who finished bottom of the table for the first time in an edition, the all-rounder will be resting for a few days before leaving for England for a Test tour. The Shubman Gill-led Indian team, in the absence of Ashwin, Kohli and Rohit, will play five Test matches against England, starting June 20.

‘I still hesitate to meet MS Dhoni': Ravindra Jadeja says, ‘It's visible on his face when he's not in the mood'
Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recalled the first time he saw Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the flight. He was scared to meet the legendary cricketer. Jadeja and Dhoni are known for their rock-solid friendship, courtesy of their more than a decade-long partnership at Chennai Super Kings. The left-arm all-rounder also made his international debut under Dhoni's leadership, with the former captain's early support playing a crucial role in shaping his rise on the big stage. With Dhoni already retired from international cricket, the camaraderie between the two can be seen both on and off the field during the IPL every season. One can't forget the image of Dhoni lifting Jadeja when he hit the winning runs for CSK to lift the IPL 2023 title. In a chat with CSK teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, Jadeja opened up about the first time he saw Dhoni on a flight in 2005. He was hesitant to even meet him, which he revealed is also sometimes the case now. "I first met MS Dhoni during the Challengers Trophy 2005 in Chennai. I was coming from Mumbai and I guess he was also coming from there in the same flight. I was sitting in the economy class and he was sitting in the business class. Everybody was saying Dhoni is sitting in front there but I was hesitant to meet him. Even now, I still get hesitant to meet him when he is not in the mood," Jadeja said in the latest episode of Kutti Stories with Ash on R Ashwin's YouTube channel. Ashwin asked Jadeja whether Dhoni, who is known for his cool and calm demeanour, gets angry. To which Jadeja asserted that the CSK legend does get angry sometimes, but he doesn't say anything, however, it can be depicted through his face. "He doesn't say anything but it's clearly visible on his face that he is not in the mood," he added. Jadeja continued his story and said he was so hesitant to meet Dhoni that he decided to leave when the ex-IND skipper's phone dropped on the flight. "At that time, I was a kid, so it was like he was MS Dhoni and when I saw him on the flight, he had long hair. Our manager said that we have to go with Dhoni from the airport to the team hotel. I was hesitant and thought, how can I go with him? Luckily, his phone got dropped on the floor and he had to wait. I thought this was the chance to get out of there, at that time I used to think about what I would talk to him, he is MS Dhoni," he concluded.

"I started playing in Jamnagar, at a ground called 'Cricket Bungalow', at the age of 8-9. My coach, who is still training at the same ground, is also from Bihar and his name is Mahendra Singh Chauhan. I have told this to Mahi bhai as well.' Jadeja recalled how Chauhan, a former police officer, laid the foundation for his athleticism and on-field agility. "He used to be a police officer, his mindset was that a sportsperson should be at the peak of his fitness. He used to believe that batting and bowling can be managed but one has to run a lot. My fitness level and fielding skills can be attributed to me running 15-20 kms around Jamnagar," Jadeja shared. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo RCB vs PBKS, IPL Qualifier 1: Quick Singles from Mullanpur | Indian Premier League When Ashwin asked him to describe Dhoni in a single word, Jadeja said, "There is no one word to describe his greatness. He is on top of everyone." Both Jadeja and Ashwin played crucial roles under Dhoni — not just for Team India, but also as key bowlers for Chennai Super Kings during the team's IPL dominance. The discussion also touched upon Virat Kohli , India's most successful Test captain, who recently stepped away from the longest format. Jadeja lauded Kohli's unwavering intensity and winning mindset. Why no Shreyas Iyer for England tour? Coach Gautam Gambhir opens up "It was his positive approach — especially in Tests — the special thing about Virat is that he always wanted the team to pick 20 wickets in a Test match, so he never gives up at all. Be it a three-hour session or 45 overs left, he would still want to pick up all 10 wickets of the opposition," Jadeja said. Kohli walked away from Test cricket with an outstanding record — 9,230 runs in 123 matches at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 fifties.
