Revenue official held in bribery case in UPs Mirzapur
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Mirzapur (UP), Jul 25 (PTI) The team of the Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) of Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a revenue official while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Mirzapur district, police said on Friday. According to the police, the lekhpal (revenue official) posted in Saripur village of Sadar tehsil area was arrested from the ground of an intermediate college and he is being questioned. Kotwali Dehat SHO Sadanand Singh said Vivek Mishra had demanded Rs 10,000 bribe from a farmer of Saripur village in the name of getting possession of one biswa land. The farmer had complained about this to the ACO team, the SHO said, adding that on the basis of the complaint, the ACO team caught Mishra red-handed while accepting the bribe from the farmer. Just them walking into my shop was a big deal. It was huge publicity for me, but that's not why they came. Jackie Shroff is my hero, and Salman Khan is my friend. Hydroponic marijuana worth Rs 10.5 crore seized at Pune airport, one held
Agency: Pune, July 25 (PTI) A passenger has been arrested at the Pune airport while allegedly trying to smuggle a consignment of suspected hydroponic marijuana valued at Rs 10.5 crore, an official said on Friday. The seizure was made on July 24 after the Air Intelligence Unit of Pune Customs intercepted Abhinay Amarnath Yadav who had arrived from Bangkok, he said. Yadav's baggage was examined as his demeanor aroused suspicion. He was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, after a narcotic substance, suspected to be hydroponic marijuana, was found in his baggage. Hydroponic marijuana which is cultivated without soil is considered to be more potent than ordinary marijuana. Further investigation is underway.
