A GAME enjoyed by more than 15million people at its peak is preparing to bow out in just a couple of weeks.
Developers have warned players that the title "will no longer be available to play" on May 29, six years after its successful launch.

Dauntless burst onto the scene with largely positive reviews and quickly gained users.
The free-to-play action role-playing game was available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch and PC.
"Dauntless is shutting down on May 29, 2025," Phoenix Labs said.
"Dauntless will receive no additional content or updates.
"The game will no longer be available to play on May 29, 2025."
In a separate post on the game's website, the firm said: "We've made the difficult decision to shut down Dauntless due to the negative public reception of TK and subsequent decline of active players."
Despite starting off successfully, players say that changes in ownership of the company behind it "ruined the game".
"The game is nothing like I remember it when it first launched," one person wrote on Reddit.
"They literally killed their own game," another commented.
"At this point I feel like it was on purpose."
Hands-on with the Nintendo Switch 2
A third raged: "I hate to see the game die, I loved it for years, but the company that bought the game forcefully turned it into a mtx hellscape and they deserve to have it crash and fail.
"I hope the excellent devs that did the work can find new work quickly."
More game closures coming up

New Trump portrait ends decades-long tradition

The White House has unveiled a new presidential portrait of Donald Trump, using a knock-off version of the Austin Powers movie theme for the reveal video on X. The new portrait replaces the one introduced earlier this year and features a stern-looking Trump in a navy suit and red tie against a dark backdrop, utilizing high contrast and dark shadows. This portrait is the first since Richard Nixon's in 1969 not to feature an American flag in the background, differing from Trump's first-term portrait, which showed him smiling in front of an American flag. The new portrait has been updated on the White House website and Trump's Facebook account and is hung in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The expression in Trump's new portrait is similar to his Georgia mug shot from two years ago, which his supporters used to depict him standing up against what they viewed as the deep state.

Two major games to stop working on some PlayStation and Xbox consoles – it'll cost fans a fortune to keep playing

There are a number of reasons why games lose support for older consoles, such as development costs and hardware limitations GAME OVER Two major games to stop working on some PlayStation and Xbox consoles – it'll cost fans a fortune to keep playing TWO popular games are winding down this month as they lose compatibility with older consoles. To keep playing, fans will have to upgrade to the newer PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S - costing as much as £499. 2 Black Desert Online will end support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after nearly a decade Credit: Pearl Abyss 2 The First Descendant is also ending support for last-generation consoles, less than a year after it first launched Credit: Nexon Black Desert Online and The First Descendant are the latest titles to ditch support for the aging PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. After nearly a decade of service, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the Black Desert Online will be shutting down on 26 June. The creators at developer Pearl Abyss said they were shifting focus to the existing PC version of the game and the all-new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. In-game purchases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players are set to be restricted. Gamers will be able to keep playing - and pick up from where they left off - only if they upgrade to a new console. When Black Desert Online is eventually made available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S after maintenance, players on the respective PS and Xbox platforms may continue with all their saved data, its creators said. All game data, including purchased items and in-game currency will be stored and accessible on those platforms. The First Descendant is also ending support for last-generation consoles, less than a year after it first launched. The title is set to be discontinued on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from 19 June, just two weeks before the game's first anniversary. The Sun tries new Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart before it's out The creators at Nexon Games pinned the decision on the "increased scale" of the game. The developer added that the team was spending "a lot of effort and difficulty maintaining the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One builds," prior to the shutdown. The First Descendant has been on a downward trajectory for the last few months as its player count dwindles, according to The Gamer. There are a number of reasons why games lose support for older consoles, such as development costs and hardware limitations. Older hardware can't keep up with modern game features, making it harder to deliver new content smoothly on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Stranger Things series five hopes as fans share theory for two characters

Netflix Stranger Things season five has stirred up excitement among fans as they took to Reddit to share their hopes for two key characters' blossoming romance. Stranger Things series five will debut in three volumes later this year. Four episodes on November 26, three episodes at Christmas, and the finale episode on New Year's Eve. The fifth and final season kicks off in the fall of 1987. 'Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna,' the official Netflix synopsis reads. ‌ Ahead of the new series, fans took to discussion platform Reddit to share their hopes that Max and Lucas get their well-deserved happy ending. ‌ "Please just give these two a happy ending…," one fan wrote alongside a slideshow of photos of the pair. Fans were quick to weigh in with their opinions on the thread, echoing their love for the 'shipment' of the couple. One fan wrote: "The most non serious couple and then BOOM, season 4, the way how Lucas stuck by her, the way she still relied on him even after distancing herself from him, him being her safe place … such maturity and growth as a couple. I'm all for it." "Yes it all hit surprisingly hard. It really was sweet and beautiful," someone else echoed. One fan responded, "I agree I like the couple it's my second favorite aside from mike and eleven." Someone else quipped: "Yes please. Of all the couples in Stranger Things I think this is the one I feel the strongest about, as it stands now." Another fan added: "I really want Max and Lucas to get their movie date and for Joyce and Hopper to get their dinner date at Enzo's." ‌ However, not all viewers were hopeful of a happily ever after for Max and Lucas. "Duffer brothers laughing right now," pointed out one fan, which was upvoted over 500 times. Adding to the above sentiment, one fan said: "Yeah... I don't think you've been paying attention if you think this has a happy ending..." ‌ One fan shared a more in-depth theory why Max and Lucas could walk away unscathed. They explained: "Season Finale, ending montage sequence: life getting back to normal, Vecna defeated, portal gates sealed for good. Different shots of the various characters getting their lives back together, leading to: A sunny day. The camera closely tracks a slow-rolling skateboard in a park, a red-sneakered pair of feet planted on top. Another pair of feet keep pace alongside." They continued: "Camera cuts to a wider shot; we see Max atop the skateboard, wobbling slightly as she regains her strength and balance, being steadied by Lucas walking alongside her as he helps her re-learn her past ability. Another wobble, Lucas grabs her and keeps her upright. The trust between them is unquestionable." "The two exchange glances, their wide smiles turning to laughter. We can tell that these two are gonna be alright. Please, Duffers. Please!," they concluded. One fan responded, "This really hit me. I hope something like this happens," however someone was less convinced, adding "referring back to this comment when the trauma inevitably happens."
