Surridge now paces the league with 14 goals, surpassing Philadelphia's Tai Baribo's 13, while leading Nashville to its second straight win and extending its unbeaten streak to 10 games. Nashville, which recorded 15 shot attempts to New England's nine and tallied six on goal to New England's four, hasn't lost since April 19. Daniel Lovitz scored a tying goal in the 51st minute.
New England dropped its second straight game after a 10-day stretch without playing. Tomas Chancalay scored and assisted for the Revolution, who previously tied Nashville 0-0 in the season opener.
After Nashville tied the game 1-1 right before halftime, the Revs reclaimed the lead in the 49th minute as Brayan Ceballos scored his first goal of the season on a header assisted by Chancalay.
Just two minutes later, Lovitz answered with a header of his own off a pass from Hany Mukhtar to knot the score at two apiece. Surridge made contact with the ball near the goalline, putting the credit for the goal in some dispute , but either way, Nashville had tied again.
Nashville then grabbed its first lead on Surridge's second "official" goal of the night, this time coming on a penalty kick after Mamadou Fofana's foul.
The game's first shot attempt came in the 11th minute, as Mukhtar's corner came up empty. New England struck first in the 15th minute, with Carles Gil finding Chancalay, whose left-footed shot was whistled past Joe Willis to give the Revolution a 1-0 edge.
Mukhtar and Surridge had attempts saved by Aljaz Ivacic in the 25th and the 28th minutes, respectively.
In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Surridge knotted the score with a header in the bottom left corner on an assist from Jonathan Perez.

Thomas Mller Jokes He's Missing Manuel Neuer As Vancouver Adventure Begins

Thomas Muller has a lot to adapt to with the Vancouver Whitecaps after 25 years at Bayern Munich. First up, flying without an old friend. Aboard the plane taking him to Canada and Major League Soccer, Müller joked it was the first time in 15 years he'd flown without Manuel Neuer, the goalkeeper who's been his longtime teammate for Bayern and the German national team. 'I'm on my flight to Vancouver. I'm looking for the GOAT. Can you help me? I cannot find him anywhere,' Müller said in a video on Instagram. 'It's my first flight without Manuel Neuer since maybe 15 years, I don't know. I'm very excited to come to Vancouver to play for the Whitecaps. Fingers crossed for my first games. See you there.' The 35-year-old forward admitted to feeling 'a little bit nervous' in comments to German broadcaster Sky Sport. 'It's the first time in a very long time that I'm joining a new team.' Müller joined Bayern's academy as a 10-year-old in 2000 and had spent his entire career with the German champion, winning a record 13 Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues and the World Cup with Germany in 2014. At Vancouver International Airport, fans cheered as waved flags as Müller walked through sliding doors after clearing customs. He then joined fans at an airport restaurant to watch the Whitecaps face Canadian Premier League club Forge FC in the first leg of the Canadian Championship semifinals. Müller's last game for Bayern was a quarterfinal loss to Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup in Atlanta, after a months-long farewell from the club. Bayern announced in April it wouldn't be extending his contract. Müller said he understood 'even if this did not reflect my personal wishes.' The following weeks saw emotional scenes with teammates, club officials and fans as Müller hit personal milestones — passing his 500th Bundesliga game and 750th game in total for Bayern — and wrapped up yet another German title. Vancouver said last week Müller will join the Whitecaps for the remainder of the season in an open roster spot, with a Designated Player option for 2026.

Cristian Romero named Tottenhams new captain by head coach Thomas Frank

London [UK], August 13 (ANI): Head coach Thomas Frank has named Argentinian defender Cristian Romero as Tottenham Hotspur's new captain following the exit of his predecessor Son Heung-Min to LAFC in the Major League Soccer (MLS) this wore the captain's armband for the last two seasons after the club saw its premier goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, call his time in North London in 2023, after holding the mantle since 2015. Under Son's two-year captaincy stint, Tottenham ended its 17-year-long trophy drought by lifting the Europa League title last season. Romero, a World Cup and two-time Copa America winner, served as the vice-captain along with James Madisson during Frank's predecessor, Ange Postecoglou's two-year reign with the club. 'Today begins a new season for us, one that is truly special to me. Becoming the first captain of this beautiful club is an incredible honour. I arrived here four years ago with a single dream: to write my name into the club's history and leave my mark by winning a trophy, and I achieved that," Romero wrote in a post on X.'Now, a new journey is in front of us. A beautiful season lies ahead, and together we will work to relive the joy of that unforgettable day, May 21, 2025. Whatever happens along the way, I ask only one thing: stay united. There will be highs and lows, but together, nothing is impossible. Come on, you Spurs," he added. Romero became just the third captain for Tottenham in the last decade after Lloris and Son. Tottenham will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup in Udine, Italy, on Wednesday, before embarking on its Premier League campaign against Burnley on Saturday.'I'm very happy to be the first team captain of the club. It's amazing for me. Today, we (Cuti and Thomas) spoke before training. Maybe before the start of the season, I've spoken a lot with him. He's a good coach and I said, 'thank you' for this, also," Romero said while speaking to the club. 'It's a big responsibility. I spoke with the players, and tomorrow is also another big night for the club, for the players, for the fans. We need to enjoy this moment," he added. (ANI)
