Barcelona star to miss 4-5 months with injury

Yahoo29-07-2025
Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen is expected to be sidelined for the next four to five months.
This, of course, comes after the German was forced under the knife on Tuesday.
Ter Stegen announced last week that, alongside Barcelona's medical team, he had made the call to undergo surgery.
As much comes with the 33-year-old having failed to shake off a long-standing lower back problem.
After sitting out pre-season training in Catalunya's capital amid ongoing speculation surrounding his future, Ter Stegen, in turn, made the trip to France earlier today.
And as confirmed in an official statement across Barcelona's website and social media platforms, the shot-stopper has since undergone successful surgery.
One key detail omitted from Barca's announcement regarding Ter Stegen was just how long the club's long-time no.1 is expected to be out of action.
But as alluded to above, an insight into as much has since been forthcoming online.
As per a report from journalist :
'The club insists: it's 4 to 5 months out.'

RFEF approves Barcelona-Villarreal La Liga soccer match in Miami

Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The Spanish football federation, or RFEF, approved a La Liga request to hold a match between Barcelona and Villarreal in Miami this season, officials announced Monday. The RFEF board of directors deliberated on the matter at a meeting Monday. Villarreal is scheduled to host Barcelona on Matchday 17, Dec. 21, in Villarreal, Spain. "After receiving and checking the documentation received, and after the approval of the board of directors, the Royal Spanish Football Federation will submit to UEFA the request to begin the procedures for the subsequent authorization by FIFA for the match to be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Dec. 20, 2025, in accordance with the FIFA international match regulations and the implementing rules approved by the RFEF," the federation said in a news release. The United States Soccer Federation, UEFA, CONCACAF and FIFA must still sign off on the move. If the game is finalized, it will mark the first time in history that a Spanish first division game would be played overseas. Girona will host Rayo Vallecano in the first La Liga match of the season Friday in Girona. Barcelona will battle Mallorca in another season opener Saturday in Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

Barcelona academy graduate's potential move to Italy hits a roadblock

Barcelona and Como took to the field last night in the Joan Gamper trophy clash and the game ended in a 5-0 win for Hansi Flick's side in what was a landslide result. Notably, however, the connection between the two clubs this summer spans far beyond the mere 90 minutes of football they engaged in last night. Currently building an exciting young team under the tutelage of former Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas, Como have been alert to the situation of all exit-linked Barcelona players. Inaki Pena has thus emerged as a player they retain an interest in. Falling apart While the Serie A side were touted to be a potential destination for Barcelona outcast Inaki Pena, SPORT relays in a recent report that the youngster is now far from the move that was highly speculated. Pena's move to Como likely to fall through. (Photo by) There have already been official contacts between the two clubs, but they stand significantly apart in terms of their terms, and an agreement is unlikely. The player, in fact, has begun studying the other options on his table at this point, and so have Como, who are determined to find a starting goalkeeper at the earliest. In fact, they are now being linked with ex-Barcelona and current PSG star Arnau Tenas. Given the urgency that the Italian side are in and the relatively massive demands from Barcelona, there is little scope for a change in the situation in Pena's case. Moreover, Barcelona do not wish to let him go until Joan Garcia is officially registered. Should the Como option fall apart, Pena will turn to the interest he has received from the likes of Celta Vigo and Sevilla. In such a case, however, it is likely he renews with Barcelona and leaves on loan with an option to buy.

Barcelona receive official transfer request from Serie A

La Liga giants Barcelona were on Sunday the recipients of a transfer request by way of Serie A outfit Como. That's according to Football Italia, who have today provided an insight into the situation. Barcelona and Como of course locked horns yesterday evening, in the annual edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy match. When all was said and done, it was the former who emerged on the right side of the result, dominating en route to a 5-0 triumph. Their side's heavy defeat, though, did not discourage the Como brass from sitting down with their Barca counterparts to launch a transfer offensive. This comes amid confirmation that Cesc Fàbregas' side are now actively pushing for the signature of Blaugrana goalkeeper Iñaki Peña. Shot-stopper Peña is for his part widely expected to be on the move before the summer is out, having continued to tumble down the pecking order between the posts in Hansi Flick's squad following the recent arrival of Joan García. And as per the aforementioned : 'Como lodged a formal request for Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena after the friendly match between the two sides in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday evening.'
