The Sun05-05-2025

CORONATION Street fans were left doing a double take after spotting a massive blunder involving Carla Connor in a recently unearthed clip.
Carla Connor (played by Alison King) was caught in a soap slip-up that's left eagle-eyed viewers scratching their heads.

An unearthed clip from an old episode of the ITV soap saw Carla talking to her bestie Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) in the café while enjoying a cuppa.
In the scene, Carla got out her mobile phone to text her brother Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward).
However, the way she text on her phone had fans in stitches.
The actress slammed her thumbs on the screen so rapidly that it did not resemble texting or forming any sort of message.
Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one eagle-eyed fan joked: "the message she sent: sjsjsjsjssjsjkk".
A third penned: "This texting Ali pls".
Meanwhile, during a more recent episode of Coronation Street, it seemed that actress Sally Carmen-Duttine appeared to forget she was in character as Abi Webster.
The awkward blunder saw the character refer to their co-star by their real name.
The embarrassing error appeared to slip through the net with bosses not catching the pesky mishap before it went to broadcast.
Awkward moment Coronation Street character calls co-star by their real name in onscreen blunder - did you spot it?
In the scene, Abi propped up the bar at the Rovers and collected some drinks whilst at Christina Boyd's Bingo night.
But, Abi accidentally called Jenny Bradley by the wrong name.
Having paid for her drinks, Abi could be heard saying: "Cheers Sal."
Rather than calling her Jenny, she appeared to confuse reality and fiction and called Jenny actress Sally Ann Matthews by her real name.
Real-life soap couples
Soaps are renowned for their sweet and scandalous romances – but it's not just in scripted storylines where love is blossoming. A number of our favourite small-screen actors have fallen for co-stars and soapland rivals when the cameras have stopped rolling.
Max Parker and Kris Mochrie
Despite playing brothers Luke and Lee Posner on Emmerdale, the pair never actually shared any scenes together. But the pair still fell in love after meeting on set. Max and Kris got together in 2020, moving in together later than same year and got engaged in 2022. In a sweet Instagram post, the couple confirmed they're planning a 2025 wedding.
Beth Cordingly and Ian Kelsey
Beth, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan, announced her love for her co-star Ian Kelsey, who played Dean Glover, shortly after she joined Emmerdale at the beginning of 2024. 'I am very in love with Ian and very happy. I think it really does work him being an actor too. He has been so fantastic," she gushed.
Laura Norton and Mark Jordan
Kerry Wyatt and Daz Eden actors Laura and Mark met on the set of Emmerdale in 2014. The couple, who got engaged in 2018, told Loose Women they spent a long time deciding whether they should "just stay as friends." Although it seems they were meant to be and the pair now share two children together.
Zoe Henry and Jeff Hordley
Emmerdale favourites Zoe and Jeff, who play Rhonda Goskirk and Cain Dingle met at drama college in 1994 and have been together ever since. While working together might be too much for some couples, that's definitely not the case for Zoe and Jeff. Zoe previously told The Sun: "Working on the same show as Jeff also helps because if one of us is having a bad day then the other will completely understand."
Lesley Dunlop and Chris Chittell
Lesley and Chris are another Dales romantic success story. Unlike some of the other soap stars, the pair who play Brenda Walker and Eric Pollard, are together on and off screen, officially tying the knot in 2016. They also adore working together, but have clear home-work boundaries. "We make a point of not talking about Emmerdale when we're at home, though – that would be just too sad, wouldn't it?" Chris revealed.
Sally Carman and Joe Duttine
Abi Franklin and Tim Metcalfe actors Sally and Joe got together after meeting on the set of Coronation Street in 2017 and they tied the knot in July 2022. But unlike some of the Emmerdale stars, Sally and Joe prefer that their characters don't interact much. Sally previously admitted it "would be horrendous" to work on a storyline with Joe because "he's too funny."
Anthony Cotton and Peter Eccleston
Sean Tully may have been unlucky in love on the cobbles, but in real life Antony's met his Prince Charming. The soap star started dating long-term partner Peter in 2005, after they met when he was working as an assistant props buyer on Corrie.
Jane Danson and Robert Beck
Corrie favourite Jane Danson tied the knot with soap star Robert Beck in 2005. The actress, who plays Leanne Battersby, shares two children, Harry and Sam, with the former Brookside star. During their marriage, Robert has also done a stint in Weatherfield playing criminal Jimmy Dockerson.
Caroline Harding and Chris Gascoyne
Chris, who played pub landlord Peter Barlow, married soap star Caroline in 2002. Although she is best known as an Emmerdale star, Caroline did visit her husband at work when she did a two-episode stint as doctor on the Manchester soap in 2020. The couple share a daughter called Belle, plus two children, Pip and Freddie from Caroline's previous marriage.
Nadine Mulkerrin and Rory Douglas Speed
Nadine Mulkerrin, and Rory Doulas Speed are known for their Hollyoaks alter egos Cleo McQueen and Joel Dexter. The loved-up pair got engaged on a December 2018 trip to Amsterdam - just over a year after they announced they were dating. They now share two kids, Reggie and Dougie.
Sophie Austin and Shayne Ward
Former Hollyoaks star Sophie, whose best known for playing villain Lindsay Butterfield, was introduced to singer and ex-Corrie star Shayne through mutual friends. She gave birth to their daughter Willow in December 2016 and they welcomed a son in 2022.
The blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment appeared to slip by soap chiefs who kept the blunder in.
One fan who spotted the moment even suggested that actress Sally Ann smirked when she realised she'd been addressed by her own name.
The viewer wrote on X: "That's too funny! And it looks like Sally (Jenny) genuinely smiled like she caught it."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.

Snoop Dogg says emotional goodbye to beloved family member after tragedy

Snoop Dogg, who won an American Music Award for Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and a Primetime Emmy Award more recently, shared two videos on Instagram, writing he misses his French bulldog Juelz Snoop Dogg's beloved dog - given to him as a birthday gift from Wiz Khalifa - has died. The rapper expressed his sadness in two Instagram videos following the loss of French bulldog Juelz. Wiz Khalifa gave his friend the pooch in 2014 as a present for his 43rd birthday. ‌ But in a video yesterday, Snoop, now 53, told the fans the upsetting news. Sitting in the front seat of his car, soundtracked by Weldon Irvine's Morning Sunrise, the hip hop legend shared his grief. The father of four, from Long Beach, California, wrote: "Rip @juelzbroadus [crying emoji]Thank wiz for giving him to me.(sic)" ‌ The rapper then shared a second video, which featured a montage of Juelz with Snoop and his family and friends over the years, with Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's See You Again playing over the top. He wrote: "Miss my dogg @juelzbroadus (sic)" 'Pocket bully' dog overpowers pensioner as armed police rush to fatal attack Juelz had his own Instagram account, which had thousands of followers and documented his adventures with his famous owner over the years. Meanwhile, Snoop - who has another French bulldog, Frank - recently admitted he is keen to open a food stall at Celtic Park, the Scottish home of his favourite soccer side Celtic. He told Scotland's Sunday Mail, which is our sister title: 'There has always been the opinion that food at sports stadiums is never good but that ain't got to be the case. ‌ 'People know that Snoop is a cook and I would love to bring a pop up burger to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good. It's got to be Celtic Park man, I mean where else am I going to bring it. "The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation. The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple cured bacon. The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself.' But Snoop has no interest in offering his food to Celtic's great rivals rangers. He said: "Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well? Nah, I think we will give that a miss!' Snoop revealed back in 2012 that he wanted to buy shares in Celtic after watching the Parkhead side beat Barcelona in the Champions League in November that year. At the time he said: "I got a lot of interest in soccer. It's not a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in sports teams but it is a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in soccer teams...I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell...I want to bring a bit of Snoop to things."

EastEnders exit story as Queen Vic fan-favourite packs his bags and leaves

George Knight (Colin Salmon) bids farewell to The Queen Vic in EastEnders next week, in the wake of wife Elaine's (Harriet Thorpe) affair. As we've seen this week, Elaine was left furious after discovering her husband spent Christmas evening in the company of his ex-wife Sabrina. While he remained insistent that he rejected her advances, he later went on to seek advice from his other ex-wife, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins). This only infuriated Elaine further, and she contacted old mate Drew Peacock (Paul Clayton) for a pep talk. Having taken his words to heart, she decided to hop into bed with a Prince Albert punter named Stephen. Riddled with guilt, she returned home and was shocked to see George make an impassioned plea to forgive him. At that moment she realised that he hadn't cheated – but she did. Still believing that she needed to be won over, and not picking up on her obvious torment, he pulled out all the stops by serenading her in The Vic bar. Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) urged her mum to come clean, and when she did, it had disastrous consequences. George couldn't see past her infidelity, even if she was pleading for forgiveness, and started to pack his bags. In upcoming scenes, Elaine puts on a brave face as George's best mate Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) tries to convince him that he should give her a second chance. After all, he did kiss Cindy last year! With Phil's words of wisdom ringing in his ears, George tells his wife that he's prepared to forgive her, but an enraged Elaine can't believe that he won't take responsibility for his part in the break-up and rejects him. It's the end of an era as George walks out of their home, but Linda tries to see the more positive side to things by arranging a divorce party to cheer her mum up. Phil notices how much Linda is struggling behind the bar by herself, and offers to chip in his expertise while Kim and Denise Fox (Tameka Empson and Diane Parish), Mo Harris (Laila Morse), Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy), Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) try and perk Elaine up. More Trending Hitting the bottle hard, Elaine proudly announces that all prosecco is on the house for the remainder of the evening. She then offers to book Priya on a singles cruise, telling her that she needn't worry about paying her back straight away. The next morning, Linda is horrified to see £5,000 gone from the business account, and a hungover Elaine dismisses her. Phil feels that she's gone off the rails, and chastises her for treating Linda poorly. When Elaine tries to broach the subject with her daughter, she downplays her overwhelm.
