Judy Finnigan has lost two stone after she 'nearly died' after being rushed to hospital for a stomach ulcer in 2018
Former This Morning star Judy Finnigan has emotionally recalled the moment she "nearly died" after being rushed to hospital for a ruptured stomach ulcer. Since the terrifying health scare, the star has dropped two stone.
The 77-year-old who is happily married to Good Morning Britain Star Richard Madeley has wowed fans with her body transformation over the years after working alongside her personal trainer daughter Chloe Madeley, 34, to make better lifestyle choices.

In 2018, Judy underwent two life-saving blood transfusions when she was left with a stomach ulcer after taking ibuprofen. The telly legend has previously said she fell seriously ill after gobbling pills "like sweeties" for a knee injury.

"I nearly died. Totally out of the blue never experienced anything like it before and hope to god I never will again," the star emotionally told MailOnline.
Judy then went on to praise the skilled ambulance crew after suffering the stomach ulcer which could have seen her "bleed out within an hour".

"'I survived thanks to exceptionally swift arriving and skilled ambulance crew and superb emergency treatment at London's Royal Free Hospital and two major life-saving blood transfusions."
Judy lost an impressive two stone due to changing up her eating and exercising habits - even impressing her personal trainer daughter, Chloe Madeley, who reportedly put her mum a revised programme of eating and exercising. The programme reportedly includes a reduced daily calorie intake plan, managed by smaller portions, and eating less but more often plus regular exercise.
"Her diet now is amazing," Chloe said of her mum in 2018 during an appearance on Loose Women. "Naturally, her palate has changed, she's gotten really into sushi, raw fish, big multigrain salads and she's dropped loads of weight just naturally from changing the old meat and potatoes to something healthier."

Just last week, Judy looked radiant as she celebrated her 77th birthday. The TV veteran marked the special day with those closest to her as she smile for some fun-filled snaps. Showing off her figure in a floral dress, Judy was showered with birthday love from her family and friends as she was treated to cake, balloons, presents and flowers.
Judy's birthday comes weeks after her husband Richard celebrated his 69th birthday live on Good Morning Britain, and fans couldn't believe his age.

The star was left red-faced as the GMB crew started by playing a Happy Birthday song in the studio, as well as lighting it up with flashing lights at six in the morning.
The screen behind the hosts also had the message "Happy Birthday Richard" written in big letters, with digital balloons moving up and down.
Sharing the secret behind his youthful looks, Richard admitted he thinks he seems youthful due to having aged on camera in front of millions. He said: "I've been on TV almost every day since the late 1970s. If you look at yourself in the shaving mirror everyday, you can't see yourself getting older.
"But if you looked every three months, you'll notice it," he continued. "So I'm on everyday here, mostly. So of course I'm aging, obviously I am. But because I'm on all the time it's not as noticeable."

Lorraine's 'defiant' message for ITV after fears she'd quit show following cuts

Lorraine Kelly has been an ITV host for decades but amidst rumours she could quit she came out fighting for her show Lorraine Kelly has appeared to drop a defiant hint to ITV bosses about her plans to fight for her show to survive - as she said 'I'm not done yet'. ITV cuts to their daytime schedule announced last month mean Lorraine's show will be slashed to 30 weeks a year and go from an hour to 30 minutes on screen. But in her first interview to air since the cuts were announced, she expressed her love of making the show and being on ITV for four decades. ‌ Told she is a "national treasure" and everyone feels they know her, Lorraine said: "Well, that's nice, but it's only because I've been around for so long. I've been doing telly for over 40 years. It's mad isn't it? It's absolutely crazy. I started in breakfast telly in 1984, and I'm still getting away with it. Extraordinarily." ‌ Speaking to Tom Kerridge on the Proper Tasty podcast, she added: "40 years in TV last year was incredible. I got a BAFTA. 'Here's a BAFTA for being alive.' I thought, 'Hang on a minute, I'm not done yet.' "I think now I can be a lot cheekier. Because I've always been a bit naughty. Not so much in the morning, but if I do a wee show on Channel 4, or The Last Leg, or something like that. You can be unleashed. And I quite like that. You do have to have a self-edit button, and I'm finding mine is not operating as much as it should. "So, when I'm sitting there and I look at something and I think, 'Gosh, what an absolute k**b that person is,' or how silly they are, I say it and I don't realise I've said it. So I have to watch." Speaking about the start of her career, she told of her nerves and said she still had them now, although not quite in the same way. Lorraine said: "I remember being so scared about doing a piece to camera and just being unbelievably nervous. And that doesn't go away for a long time. It doesn't ever completely go away I don't think. I don't think it should.' ‌ Lorraine also referenced in the podcast her recent operation which saw her off screen for weeks as she returned to the TV screens mid May after her laparoscopy, a surgery where small cuts are made for procedures inside the stomach or pelvis area. Speaking on the podcast, she said: "I'm good. I had a wee procedure. Everything is absolutely fine. They whipped out my ovaries and fallopian tubes, and everything is fine. It's all good. It was keyhole surgery, which was amazing. I've just got three wee tiny holes." The cheeky star added: "I mean, I've got more holes than that, but I've got three wee tiny holes where the operation happened. So, it's fine. It's all good." ‌ It is understood shortly after she recovered from the operation she was called into a meeting with ITV boss Kevin Lygo. He arranged for Lorraine to be told of her show's huge changes separately in a show down in the days before. She is said to have turned down an idea to merge her show with Good Morning Britain. Days later, the rest of ITV daytime learned that 220 production staff out of 440 will lose their jobs as part of cutbacks. Lorraine has been on screen on ITV as a show since it launched in September 2010, with the host having previously worked on GMTV and Good Morning Britain, meaning she has been a regular for 40 years. ‌ Last week, the Mirror told how Lorraine is fighting to save the long-term future of her show. A source said: "Lorraine was not happy about what is happening and also had concern for the production team which works on her show and will be cut back too. "But the truth is she has to roll her sleeves up and work harder on her own show than she has in recent years, otherwise the long term future does not look good. She has been an icon of ITV TV but serious cuts need to be made and her show has been cut to just 30 minutes, which after ad breaks will be a very short chunk of time. ‌ "She needs to show bosses it is worth keeping on air. You can expect her to be pulling hard to get big name celebrities on her show instead of GMB or This Morning to prove her worth. She was left in no doubt after the meeting there are some tough times ahead." Lorraine is so attached to her show, she feels like interviewees are being invited into her own house before she speaks to them. Speaking passionately about her programme, she said: "I always say I treat people with huge respect and all of that. I'm inviting them into my house, in a sense." However, Lorraine changes her interview tactics when she prepares to grill politicians. ‌ She added: "I always remember Piers Morgan said I was an 'iron fist in a velvet glove,' and I loved that description. He's very cheeky and very naughty, and he makes me laugh a lot. But I like that, and it's very true. "When it comes to politicians it is completely different. You know what really annoys me. When I first started out you'd get the Secretary of Education and the Shadow Secretary of Education sitting down, and you could have a debate with them. Now, they won't do that. Nobody does that anymore. They actually refuse. And I think it's outrageous. ‌ "Because the whole thing about them is … I do like to give them a chance to talk, politicians, because people are not daft, and they can make their own minds up about them. I don't like the gladiatorial style, because that doesn't get you anywhere at all. "Give them enough rope and let them talk, and then you can go in with the wee killer question. At the end of the day, they are accountable to us. But more importantly, to our viewers. You've got to make sure you ask what matters to people and their lives." After taking politicians to account, Lorraine loves to drift off to sleep by listening to the Shipping Forecast - a BBC Radio 4 weather report, which lists gale warnings and wind speeds among other elements - despite having "no clue" what it is about. She said: "Do you ever listen to the shipping forecast? I do. I have no idea what she's going on about. Not a clue. But it's very reassuring. I feel reassured. I feel I can go to sleep at night, and I don't even know what it's about." Hopefully the shipping forecast is still doing the job at the moment, even in the face of such nightmare news about the cuts to staff and her hours on screen. Lorraine has dropped anchor at ITV and doesn't want to leave.

Owen Wilson reacts to series being compared to ‘one of TV's biggest shows ever'

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Living up to the reputation of one of the biggest shows ever to be released on TV is no mean feat. But that's the task that lies ahead for Apple TV Plus' latest comedy Stick, which people immediately started comparing to the global hit Ted Lasso as soon as a trailer was released. Starring and executive produced by Owen Wilson, the newly-launched series follows former pro golfer Pryce Cahill (played by the Wedding Crashers star), who spots greatness in wonderkid Santi Wheeler (Peter Dager) and decides to take him under his wing. It's giving Happy Gilmore merged with a dash of Jason Sudeikis' Ted Lasso, so when Metro sat down for an exclusive chat with Owen and his co-star Judy Greer, we had to find out what they thought of the comparisons. Having personally spent many hours of my childhood watching Adam Sandler spark chaos on the golf course, and then years later found myself crying over a fictional football team, Stick felt like everything I could want in a comfort watch by seemingly combining the two. 'I love the show,' Owen, 56, said when asked how he feels about Stick being compared to Ted Lasso, which was reported to have scored 16.9 billion minutes viewed in 2023. 'So, of course, you would hope that the show could connect with people in that way.' The Loki star continued: 'What made me like that show, there was this kindness, and obviously this humour to it, that just made it really unusual. I do think, with our show Stick, there's funny stuff, and there's also heart and some emotion. I think there's a kindness to it that is nice in these times.' Owen is joined in Stick by What Women Want and 13 Going On 30 actress Judy, who plays Pryce's ex-wife Amber-Linn, who remains a crucial part of his life despite their separation. Judy, 49, agreed with the idea that watching Stick gives viewers a sense of nostalgia, as it reminds them of other 'underdog stories', like the 2005 sports comedy Bad News Bears. 'I'm always happy to be compared to super popular, successful TV shows and movies. So I'm all for it, but I do think that there is something timeless about the story of Stick,' she shared. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'That is probably why people are finding those comparisons easy to make. Because there is something like the underdog, about recognising young talent, about redemption, about relationships, about choosing a family, as opposed to getting handed a family. And then everyone loves a good road trip comedy. So there's that sprinkled on top.' As you might expect from a sporting underdog story, Stick is a fun and light-hearted watch, but it also comes with buckets of emotion that'll tug on the heartstrings. One aspect of filming Stick that hit Owen the hardest was the scenes that he shared with Judy, when her character Amber-Linn decides to support her ex-husband Pryce by investing in his new venture. 'In my life, I've benefited so much from people believing in me and giving me a chance. So the scenes with Judy, believing in me enough to put money into this crazy idea I have, that's a moving thing,' he said. Judy, on the other hand, found herself stirred by a scene that she wasn't even a part of when Pryce hears Santi hit a golf ball for the first time in the opening episode, and is blown away. Before speaking to Owen and Judy, I was astonished when I realised that I'd never seen them together in a project… the exception being when they both starred in the 2010 film Marmaduke. However, Owen was voicing the titular animated dog, so they didn't get the chance to share the screen. 'It's like when people ask me about Paul Newman in Cars. Well, he wasn't ever there,' Owen said, comparing Marmaduke to the 2006 Pixar movie where he voiced the racecar Lightning McQueen opposite Paul Newman as Doc Hudson. 'Getting to work in real life together, it was just very easy,' he said of working with Judy. 'We just hit it off. Sometimes somebody has a different process than you have, or the way they're saying it, that's not the way I heard it in my head. But in my head, every time I would hear Judy, it was like, yeah, that's better than I heard. That's good, I can do something with that. So it was just nice. It was easy,' he outlined. Apple TV Plus appears to be playing the long game with Stick (pun intended), releasing the first three episodes on the premiere date, before the following instalments come out weekly. More Trending Chances are that word might spread over the next few weeks as more and more people find out about the golf comedy and recommend it to their friends, and perhaps start pondering whether it could return for a second season. 'You never know,' Owen remarked over the possibility of a season two, suggesting Australia and the UK as possible filming locations in the future. Given he's also an executive producer on the project, perhaps he'll have the sway to make it happen.
