
Ralph Lauren's Quarterly Results Beat Estimates on Steady Demand
Its investments into brands including Polo and Purple Label, paired with stylish seasonal drops, have been helping the company win over younger and less price-sensitive shoppers.
Ralph Lauren has also stepped up its marketing initiatives with campaigns including Summer Sports and the Hamptons fashion event, to help boost consumer engagement.
However, it forecast annual revenue below estimates owing to pressures from uncertainty around US tariffs.
Ralph Lauren is among the retailers and luxury brands facing the brunt of unpredictable US tariff shifts that have disrupted businesses and rattled shoppers worldwide.
In fiscal 2024, the company sourced about 96 percent of its products from outside the US, with 15 percent coming from China, according to its annual filings.
China is also a major market for Ralph Lauren products.
While the recent 90-day trade truce between Washington and Beijing cut US tariffs on China to 30 percent from an eye-watering 145 percent, the relief is expected to be brief for China's export-reliant economy.
Additionally, mounting pressure from a deepening property crisis in China and climbing unemployment has also clouded hopes for a strong economic rebound.
Ralph Lauren expects fiscal 2026 revenue to increase in the low-single digits from last year, including the impact of tariffs, inflationary pressures and spending challenges. Analysts estimate a rise of 4.39 percent, per data compiled by LSEG.
The company posted quarterly revenue of $1.70 billion, compared with estimates of $1.65 billion.
It earned an adjusted profit of $2.27 per share, beating estimates of $2.

'Once that tone is set, you have the freedom to say, 'hey, I want to work with you.'' That unapologetic focus reflects a broader shift toward highly curated B2B experiences where leaders can be more discerning with their time and travel. True Religion CMO and Head of Digital Growth Kristen D'Arcy traveled from Los Angeles to New York specifically to connect with this small group of like-minded leaders. 'It's not transactional,' she said. 'I don't feel like someone is trying to sell me something every minute. Here I can make true relationships.' Inside an Intimate Dealmaking Event The program of The DealmakeHers Beach Club was deliberately structured to maximize attendees' time. Starting late on a Monday gave them time to complete their workday before arriving, a detail that allowed them to be fully present. 'The thing I loved was the time it started,' said Michelle Cordeiro Grant, founder and CEO of intimates brand Lively and popular beverage brand Gorgie. 'I felt like I had already had an impact with my business and team, so I could be present here.' A guided beach meditation opened the event, empowering participants to clear their minds and set professional intentions before diving into strategic conversations. Later that evening, a bonfire provided the backdrop for executives to share their dream collaborations and career ambitions. The aim was to create a space where women could voice their biggest professional aspirations, knowing someone in the group could likely help make them real. Some spoke of promotions, others of ideal partnerships or even retirement. 'When it's the right prompt and right environment, people feel safe,' Minkoff said. 'That's when the magic happens.' Sarah McNamara, CMO of Peter Thomas Roth, left with concrete opportunities in motion. 'Walking away from this, I already have questions I need to answer and people I need to follow up with. There really is potential for making deals.' The next morning began with a workout led by celebrity trainer Isaac Boots, reinforcing the connection between physical stamina and professional performance. 'Although I've been very successful at work, exercise is the area I have neglected,' said Ralph Lauren SVP of Stores Sharonda Weatherspoon. Looking around the room she added, 'But this is what 'great' looks like. This is what it means to be a professional woman and to make sure you have the stamina to bring all of your really great ideas to fruition.' A working breakfast followed, featuring business insights from Minkoff, Kroma Wellness founder Lisa Odenweller, skincare expert Pietro Simone and Cordeiro Grant. By noon, guests were back at their desks — having fit two days of high-value connections into a short window. We all lift each other up.' Weatherspoon agreed. 'This was the event I needed and didn't know I needed. It's women helping women and putting them in places where they can meet other phenomenal women to keep that circle growing.' FTC sues LA Fitness for making it too hard to cancel gym memberships
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit against the operators of LA Fitness on Wednesday, alleging the popular gym chain makes the process of canceling memberships too difficult for consumers. 'The FTC's complaint describes a scenario that too many Americans have experienced – a gym membership that seems impossible to cancel,' Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Christopher Mufarrige said in a statement, noting 'tens of thousands of LA Fitness customers reported difficulties.' 'The FTC will not hesitate to act on behalf of consumers when it believes companies are stifling consumers' ability to choose which recurring charges they want to keep,' he continued. LA Fitness did not immediately respond to request for comment. The complaint was filed in federal court in the Central District of California against Fitness International, LLC and Fitness & Sports Clubs, LLC. The companies operate gyms including LA Fitness, Esporta Fitness, City Sports Club and Club Studio, covering more than 600 locations and over 3.7 million members. The gym memberships cost anywhere from $30 to $299 per month and often involve annual fees. To cancel, LA Fitness requires consumers to go to the gym in person or send a cancelation notice by mail. But the FTC says it's not that simple. In the complaint, the FTC outlines the 'opaque and complicated methods' that LA Fitness allegedly uses to 'to make it extremely difficult for consumers to cancel their memberships.' First, consumers must print out cancelation forms by logging into its website. If consumers forget their log-in credentials, LA Fitness requires them to provide a 'key tag' number assigned to them at sign-up and to provide the first five digits of their credit card or bank account number to reset the account. They do not tell consumers, according to the FTC, that members have the option of submitting a written cancelation notice, nor did they specify what that request should include. The gyms also told consumers that the mail-in cancelations should be sent by certified or registered mail, according to the FTC. When consumers tried to cancel in person, the FTC said, they similarly faced obstacles. Members could only cancel with one specific employee — even though several were authorized to oversee cancelations — and only during designated hours when most people were working—even though most locations were open for 19 hours a day, according to the FTC. The FTC further alleges that LA Fitness has 'trained staff to reject escalated requests and to deny cancellations requested by phone or email, reiterating that all cancellations must be done in person with one specific employee or by mail.' 'Consumers who try to cancel their memberships by stopping charges to their bank or credit card find they are rebilled, often under new account numbers,' the FTC said. The FTC says these practices violate the FTC Act and the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA) and it is seeking money back for consumers allegedly harmed by the practices.
