Ukrainian MP: Some 80% of state-owned enterprises loss-making

Saba Yemen26-02-2025

Kiev - Saba:
About 80% of state-owned enterprises in Ukraine are loss-making, Ukrainian MP Taras Tarasenko said on Wednesday.
For understanding, we have the largest number of state-owned enterprises in Europe, three thousand, but unfortunately, the majority of them, 80%, are loss-making enterprises in bankruptcy or liquidation proceedings, Tarasenko said, according to the Novosti Life TV channel.
He added that the public sector has become loss-making due to poor management. Currently, only Ukrpushta and Ukrzalyznytsia are operating effectively.
The Pentagon's inspector general reported that corruption cases were recorded during inspections of the fate of US aid to Ukraine. According to the inspector's report, 57 corruption investigations have been opened in Ukraine since February 2022, of which 14 have been completed and 43 are still open.
The completed investigations resulted in 7 arrests, 13 criminal charges, 2 convictions, and 11 suspensions. The open investigations mainly concern fraud in grants and procurement, corruption, theft, and other violations.
According to a poll conducted by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper in April, more than half of Ukrainians see corruption as the biggest threat to the country's development.
Ukrainian MP Artyom Dmytrok, who left Ukraine and is wanted by the Kyiv authorities, said that Volodymyr Zelensky has stolen more than all other Ukrainian presidents.
"Tens of millions of dollars are transferred every month" from every government body to Zelensky's office, Dmytrok was quoted as saying by RT.
"This is the man who has stolen more money than all the presidents who have stolen in Ukraine before. And his money, of course, is the bloodiest of all. He has surpassed everyone in this regard," he added.
According to the deputy, $10-15 million is collected monthly in the Odessa region alone, and the income from regional recruitment centers in Ukraine ranges from $2-4 billion annually.

Trump expresses "disappointment" over failure to reach peace agreement between Russia, Ukraine

Washington - Saba: US President Donald Trump has expressed his disappointment over the failure to reach an agreement to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the actions of both parties in this regard. Trump said in press statements on Thursday at a White House event, commenting on the failure to reach an agreement between the two parties to resolve the conflict: "I'm very familiar with this situation. I'm disappointed with Russia, but I'm also disappointed with Ukraine. I'm sorry that this has not been resolved yet." Trump had previously confirmed that Russia was ready to conclude an agreement to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, and that an agreement with Volodymyr Zelensky remained. Later, Trump stated that he had set a deadline for concluding a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine and expressed his optimism about the possibility of ending the Ukrainian conflict. The Russian and American presidents held two phone calls. On February 12, President Putin discussed the Ukrainian issue with his American counterpart, as well as the accumulated problems in relations between the two countries. The two presidents agreed to continue contacts, including arranging personal meetings. A phone call also took place on March 18. During the conversation, issues of settlement in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as bilateral relations, were discussed. President Putin then expressed his support for Trump's idea for a ceasefire in Ukraine, but with some reservations. He immediately ordered a halt to strikes on energy facilities, despite no response to the initiative from the Kyiv regime. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)
