'Seventh circle of hell' death where man burned alive in 'worst execution ever'
The most notorious of the early tyrants may have deserved karmic justice with a "seventh circle of hell" death however, it was not the widely hated ruler who met this gruesome fate - it was his brother.
One of Rome's most violent leaders, Ezzelino III da Romano, was an Italian statesman during the 13th century and was the appointed lordship of several Italian provinces by Fredrick II, Holy Roman Emperor.
This was during a time when Italian politics were dominated by the split between those who wanted the Emperor to dominate North Italian politics, the Ghibellines, and those who wanted the Pope to retain overall control, the Guelphs.
Ezzelino slotted himself into the Ghibelline faction and imposed a violent tyranny over his subjects. As a result his people developed a deep, unwavering hatred for him.
The Guelphs would eventually win in their quest to have him removed from power and Ezzelino died in prison from his injuries after being defeated by Guelph forces. However, some would say the tyrant got off lightly with his brother, Alberico da Romano bearing the brunt of the punishment for his brother's butal rule.
Alberico, after the death of his brother, tried to surrender to the Guelphs in order to save his family but they threw him in chains and made him watch as they chopped his young sons apart.
He was then forced to standby as the women in his family were stripped naked and forced to walk naked through the streets before being burned alive. One Reddit user posted saying the man "was actually in the 7th layer of hell in Dante's inferno".
If this wasn't revenge enough Aberico was then tortured with scalding hot irons before his wounded body, on the brink of death, was dragged through the streets by horse.
Jimcomelately described the gory death: "Ezzelino was so unpopular with the locals that Alberico, after the death of his brother, tried to surrender himself to the Guelphs in order to save his family but they threw him in chains and made him watch as they chopped his young sons apart.
"His female relatives were stripped naked and forced to walk naked through the streets before being burned alive. And after all this he was tortured with hot irons and dragged through the streets by a horse."

Motorcyclist killed in crash while major motorway remains closed
A motorbiker in his 50s has died after a serious crash on the M60 in Greater Manchester. A stretch of the M60 remains closed 12 hours after the smash, which happened between junctions J18 and J19 near Middleton yesterday evening. The emergency services were alerted after a crash involving a motorcycle on the clockwise carriageway. The crews found a man in his 50s with serious injuries. No other vehicles were involved. Despite the efforts of the paramedics, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Crash investigators are now appealing for any information or dashcam footage from anyone travelling near the scene at about 8.15pm yesterday. The motorway remains closed clockwise this morning while an investigation continues. Greater Manchester Police said: 'Despite best efforts of the emergency services, a male in his 50s sadly died at the scene of the collision. 'No other vehicles were involved and we are now appealing for more information to understand the circumstances that led up to the collision. 'We are particularly interested in anybody who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.' National Highways said: 'The M60 has now re-opened anti-clockwise between J19 (Simister) and J18 near Middleton. 'The clockwise carriageway remains closed due to a police led incident.' The fatal crash comes after another motorcyclist died on the M60 further south near Stockport. Andrew Peak, 58, was rushed to the hospital with catastrophic injuries after the crash on July 12. 'A neighbour keeps parking across my drive - and I can't believe how he reacts when I knock on his door'

Asking for legal advice the motorist siad he had been stunned at bizarre actions from the neighbour including b anging on his door in the middle of the night to ask them to turn music down - when they're all asleep. But they said the campaign over the driveway was the most annoying and raise the issue on a Reddit forum asking for legal advice. He complained that whenever he goes to ask the neighbour or his sons 'just laugh and close the door' often leaving him trapped on the drive. The Bristol resident said: ' We've had problems with our neighbour ever since we moved in, he's a landlord who owns almost the whole neighbourhood and has been harassing us ever since we moved in - swearing at us, getting his sons to push my car when it was parked legally on the street (caught on camera), banging on the door at midnight telling us to turn music down (we were asleep and didn't know where the music was coming from). 'Recently he has been parking directly straight across our driveway, stopping us from getting out. Our driveway is walled on either side so we can't even squeeze past. I ask him to move it each time but he and his sons just laugh at me and close the door, which means sometimes I can't get out to work or anywhere for a few hours until they move their car.' The resident said that he's got a proper dropped curb and added: 'I've read countless things online saying it's illegal to park there, and that it's illegal to stop a car getting onto the highway. We've called 101 but they just say because he's not being violent then they won't do anything and they'll just record it as a report, I've called them at least 5 times in the last few months and am told the same thing each time. 'And it's worth mentioning that there are loads of places to park on our street, but he insists on parking directly in front of our drive, so it's definitely deliberate, and I think them just trying to annoy us into moving. 'I just want some peace and don't know what to do, can anyone give some advice?' Responders said that one of the key things is to keep a log of everything that happens. And they said it was illegal. One explained: 'It is absolutely illegal to park across a dropped kerb blocking a vehicle from accessing the highway, contact the police again, as well as the councils local councillor & if you get no joy get hold of your MP. 'The police will do nothing if they can get away with it, constantly push them.' Another asked: 'When you called 101, did you actually report an obstruction on a public highway? I can't figure out why the Police told you they can't take action because he's not being violent, that seems a totally inappropriate response to access to a road being blocked' The homeowner replied: 'I've not worded it like that but will in future, just said that the neighbour is blocking my driveway and won't move and I can't get out. They say they'll log it and call me back and when they do they just ask is it still happening, which it isn't because they only park there for a few hours before moving.' A user said: 'NLA but start keeping a log and evidence (photos and videos) for everything he does. It may seem a pain, but call 101 each time too. Just to officially log it. See if you can get it added to the same reference number. 'A mate was being harassed by an ex and logged it all. He said he felt like he had 101 on speed dial. When she ended up having him arrested he quoted a reference and it was all stacked up.' The Bristolian replied: 'Yes I've already started making a log and have got everything recorded on a security camera, clearly showing Reg no. and his car.' The Highway Code states that a vehicle should never be parked blocking a property entrance. This is outlined in rule number 243, along with a comprehensive list of other locations, including near school entrances or close to a bus or tram stop as well as a taxi rank. Motorists are also prohibited from parking on dropped kerbs in front of driveways. The RAC has clarified that it is indeed legal to park outside someone's house, provided you're not obstructing their access. This means the space outside your home isn't automatically yours and parking operates on a first-come-first-served basis, with some exceptions. They add that when it comes to double yellow lines for instance, drivers may incur a fine of £70 however this can be reduced by 50 percent if you pay the fine within 14 days depending on the local authority. As well as a potential fine, the RAC are further warning motorists that whilst 'the Highway Code isn't the law, many of its rules are in fact legal requirements under the Roads Traffic Act, which you can be prosecuted for contravening'. Because of this, drivers may be fined, given penalty points on your licence, disqualified from driving, or even sent to prison.

Man's body chopped into pieces by his mum and girlfriend who then put remains in bin
The body of 35-year-old man Alessandro Venier was found in a bin at his home near the north-eastern city of Udine in Italy after being drugged and hacked to bits with an axe A man was reportedly drugged and then gruesomely dismembered with an axe, with suspicion cast upon the victim's own mother and girlfriend. The blood-soaked remains of 35 year old Italian Alessandro Venier were discovered in a bin at his residence near Udine in the north-east of Italy. His body had been sprinkled with quicklime to mask the odour. Authorities believe he had been deceased for several days before they located him. According to local reports, the suspects - his mother Lorena Venier and his 30 year old partner - surrendered themselves to the police. The motive behind the crime has yet to be disclosed. Venier was employed in a junior position at a nearby hospital. It is suspected that the women sedated him before chopping him up with an axe, reports the Mirror. The two accused women lived with the victim and his six-month-old baby girl. The local community has been left in shock by the murder, particularly as they grapple with how the man's own mother, a respected nurse in the town, could be implicated. Venier's remains were found on Thursday after one of the women alerted the authorities. Both women have been apprehended and taken into custody at the local police station. "Nothing like this has ever happened here before," stated Roberto Revelant, the mayor of Gemona del Friuli, where the murder occurred. "It's a terrible thing, it's heart-wrenching." The mayor also shared that Venier had aspirations of relocating to Colombia. The infant has been placed in care, with the mayor commenting: "The whole community is rallying around the baby. We are working with social services to make sure she is safe." Authorities are continuing their investigation and anticipate bringing charges within the next few days. This incident follows a macabre discovery where the severed head of a man was turned over to the authorities by a student, who was then taken into custody. In a shocking turn of events, the young individual presented the detached head, encased in tin foil, from his rucksack, stunning medical staff at São José Hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, prompting them to immediately alert the police. The decapitated corpse had been discovered sprawled on a central street in Lisbon earlier on Wednesday.
