It's a new half for 49ers QB Brock Purdy. It's a personal touchdown for the star quarterback. Purdy, 25, has been incredible on the gridiron lately. The journey from Mr. Irrelevant in 2022 to the NFC-champion starting quarterback in just three years showcased his relentless grit and passion for the game that remains unmatched.
But this Friday was outright different. Purdy deserved a short break from the scoreboard responsibilities during the first week of practice. After all, the young lad is now prepping to babysit his newborn.
Brock Purdy welcomes his baby girl to the world
Purdy had many excellent days through the air, throwing multiple touchdowns to win games. Although it couldn't avoid a disappointing 6-11 finish for the team, Brock stays relevant, holding franchise single records for passing yards (4280). However, in 2025, the load is higher, and so is the drive. But Purdy took a leave from the team's practice on Friday, and nobody judged. When he returned on Sunday, Shabahan told reporters,
''Yeah, Broke had some family stuff yesterday, all good news! I am sure he will tell you guys when he talks to you guys next.
But yeah, Broke was back and didn't miss a beat, and it was a good day off for him.''
It was indeed. Early Monday Morning, Brock's wife, Jenna, spilled the beans on her IG, sharing a picture of her and Brock holding their newborn daughter with the caption
,
'
Millie Joleen Purdy🩷 Life just became a whole lot sweeter..'
Now, it remains to be seen how the classic QB performs in his newly-assigned dad-duty.

NFL in shock: Antonio Brown accuses Browns owner Jimmy Haslam of breaking draft pact on Shedeur Sanders

Antonio Brown claims Jimmy Haslam broke secret draft to pick Shedeur Sanders (Image credits: IG/X) The NFL world is buzzing after Antonio Brown claimed Browns owner Jimmy Haslam broke a behind-the-scenes agreement not to draft quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The bombshell accusation comes amid growing speculation that Sanders' surprising fall in the 2025 NFL Draft wasn't just football-related. Despite a standout college season, the Colorado QB dropped deep into the draft pool, raising eyebrows across the league. Now, questions about a possible coordinated freeze-out are gaining serious traction. Antonio Brown's allegation sparks fresh NFL conspiracy talk Brown, the former NFL star known for his drama-filled post-retirement life, alleged that Haslam defied a pact among NFL teams to avoid Shedeur. 'Jimmy doesn't want to publicly admit he broke the agreement between the 31 other teams,' Brown said, hinting at a secretive plan to pass over Sanders. As of now, the NFL has not commented on the claim, and no official record of such an agreement has surfaced. Jimmy Haslam tries to cool the heat with a deflection In a training camp media interaction on July 29, Haslam attempted to shift the spotlight away from himself, placing full responsibility on his general manager. 'That's Andrew Berry's call,' Haslam stated. 'Andrew made the call to pick Shedeur… that was Andrew's call.' He also clarified that play-calling and starter decisions rest with head coach Kevin Stefanski. The public distancing has only intensified speculation about the nature of Shedeur's selection. Draft-Day slide leaves analysts searching for answers Shedeur Sanders entered the 2025 draft with an elite NCAA résumé, yet somehow slipped past several quarterback-needy teams. With 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions on 477 attempts at a 74% completion rate, his performance spoke volumes. He also added four rushing touchdowns, though negative rushing yardage (-50) due to sacks became a talking point. Still, his raw stats make it hard to justify such a slide without other factors in play. Deion Sanders' influence may have complicated the picture Analysts and fans alike are now questioning whether Shedeur's draft journey was shaped more by politics than performance. Many believe the outspoken and unconventional coaching style of his father, Deion Sanders, may have turned some franchises off. From bold media statements to social media visibility, the elder Sanders has never shied away from the spotlight. Teams may have feared bringing that level of public attention and unpredictability into their locker rooms. 'My father was mocked by his friends for letting me play football in shorts': Gardener's daughter makes India's U-20 team

Khushbu Saroj AHMEDABAD: When 18-yearold Khushbu Saroj walks on to the pitch at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on Aug 6 to face Indonesia in the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers, she'll carry more than just a jersey with the Indian tricolour — she'll carry a dream that once seemed impossible. The daughter of a humble gardener, Khushbu has been named in India's 23-member squad for the continental tournament. Hailing from Ahmedabad, she is joined by Tapi district's Shubhangi Singh as the two Gujarat players in the squad. For Khushbu, this is not just a football match — it's a moment of quiet triumph against years of doubt, social resistance, and hardship. 'My father works as a gardener in people's homes. He used to be ridiculed by his friends for letting me leave the house in shorts to play football,' Khushbu recalls. 'He would often tell me, ' Kuch bhi nahi rakha in sab cheezo mein ' (There's no future in such things). But my mother and sisters never gave up on me. They were my strength.' Her journey began in the narrow lanes of Ahmedabad, where she first kicked a ball after watching seniors play at her school. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a passion. But the path wasn't easy. Her father's reluctance and societal judgment weighed heavily on the family. Still, Khushbu persisted. It wasn't until she earned a spot in the Gujarat state team that her father's attitude began to shift. 'When I finally wore the India jersey and returned from Thailand after my first international tournament, my parents came to receive me. They were filled with pride,' she says, a smile audible in her voice. Her coach at Kahaani FC, Lalita Saini, played a pivotal role in her rise. 'Lalita ma'am was like a second mother. She guided me in everything – diet, discipline, mental strength. When I got injured in 2022 and my parents asked if I should quit the sport, Lalita ma'am told me injuries are just part of a player's life. The real story is in making a comeback.' Khushbu's father's words today are a stark contrast to the doubts of past: 'I used to stop her when she went for training. Today, I'm proud of her.' Her mother's eyes well up as she added, 'People used to mock her. Today feels like a dream. We never imagined our daughter would play for India.' From Ahmedabad to Yangon, Khushbu Saroj's story is one of perseverance, passion, and quiet revolution – a testament to the power of belief in oneself. IND vs ENG series: KL Rahul falls narrowly short of edging Sunil Gavaskar's England record

KL Rahul scored 532 runs during the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. (PTI) KL Rahul has added another feather to his cap in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy by becoming India's second-highest run-scoring opener in a Test series in England. With 532 runs in the five-match series, Rahul has gone past Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma but will not be able to jump the legendary Sunil Gavaskar . Gavaskar's iconic tally of 542 in 1979 has stood for over four decades now, and Rahul came within touching distance of overhauling that stat. His stay in the second innings of the fifth and final Test was disrupted by Josh Tongue. KL Rahul press conference: On last over fight, Rishabh Pant run out and fired up Shubman Gill KL Rahul, having opened the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, could only add 7 runs in the second innings before his stay was cut short by a cracking Tongue delivery that straightened on landing and forced an edge that was plucked by Joe Root in the slips. Despite the low scores of 7 and 14 in the Test at The Oval, it has been a great tour for the India opener. After scoring a century in the practice game against the England Lions, KL Rahul scored fifty-plus scores in all but the ongoing fifth Test. The 33-year-old latched scores 42, 137 (at Headingley), 2, 55 (at Edgbaston), 100, 39 (at Lord's), 46, 90 (at Old Trafford) and now 14, 7 (at The Oval). His 532 runs have come at an average of 53.20 with 1066 balls faced - only behind Shubman Gill (1141). Most Runs by an Indian Opener in a Test Series in England: 542 – Sunil Gavaskar (1979) 532 – KL Rahul (2025) 402 – Murali Vijay (2014) 368 – Rohit Sharma (2021-22) Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4.
