Marshall Heston 120 review: quality sound at an affordable price

Also Marshalling its way through the likes of Bohemian Rhapsody, the original Guardians of the Galaxy, and Chris Nolan's twisty turny Tenet, the Heston 120's engineering and support for Dolby Atmos and DTS-X adds an energy and excitement to the concert scenes (in particular) from Bohemian making them absolutely soar, while also putting you slap-bang in the middle of the ear-confounding intergalactic action in Guardians. And then there's Tenet, a brilliantly conceived and shot muffle-fest that leaves your ears straining to work out exactly what's being said. Here, the Heston's front drivers and real-time audio processing brought forth a clarity to the speech that I previously never believed possible. And if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean.

Superman fans are just discovering little-known link to another iconic movie

James Gunn wrote and directed the new Superman film, hitting a reset button on the DC universe with David Corenswet taking over as the iconic superhero. Gunn is also behind a divisive and unexpected 2002 film Superman fans are surprised after learning that director and writer James Gunn penned a divisive 2002 film before his foray into the superhero world. The new Superman movie stars David Corenswet in the titular role, with Nicholas Hoult as antagonist Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane. ‌ It marks a reboot of the Superman franchise and is the first instalment of the new DC Universe, with James Gunn at the helm after leaving Marvel. The creator experienced success with the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, which is part of the MCU, before his departure to join rivals at DC. ‌ After some initial criticism, the film has been praised by superhero fanatics and film buffs alike, currently boasting a Rotten Tomatoes score of 83%. ‌ Some fans, however, didn't realise James Gunn wrote the mystery comedy adventure film, Scooby-Doo, back in 2002. The film had a stellar cast made up of Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, Matthew Lillard and more but still pulled in just 32% on Rotten Tomatoes. It received mainly negative reviews upon its release but has established itself as a bit of a cult classic. On Reddit, one Scooby Doo fan was keen to point out the film's link to the lauded new superhero movie. They shared images of the film posters of both Scooby Doo and Superman and simply captioned them: 'Same writer btw [by the way].' In the comments section, people were keen to share their thoughts. One person said: 'How am I only just learning this." ‌ Another said: 'Yeah and that's why they are both great." A third shared: 'My one wish is for James Gunn to use his Hollywood clout to make a Scooby Doo 3 with the original cast." ‌ A fourth commented: 'Gunn has grown as a writer. Monsters Unleashed is one of my favourite films from him.' Someone else replied: 'Well, tell him to de-grow so we can get another Scooby Doo movie." Another observed similarities between Superman and Scooby Doo: 'Both movies have an unmasking, both movies have a strange dog, both movies have a kiss at the end." ‌ Then one Reddit user simply said: 'James Gunn sure has come a LONG way from Scooby Doo." And another said: '[Ah], James Gunn... the man who hated Scrappy Doo so much he went out of his way to assassinate the character permanently. Loved both movies! EXACTLY who and what Superman needed to be.' And someone decided to share their thoughts on the new Superman film. They penned: 'I thought it was the best Superman movie since Reeves. I enjoyed the cameos and the other heroes who show up (trying to be spoiler free but Nathan Fillion was amazing). 'Thought Krypto was a fun addition but not over the top. Enjoyed that it didn't rehash the origin story all over again. 'The plot was easy to follow but still interesting. The tone and vibe of the movie are much better than some of the stuff we saw with like Snyder DCEU. 'I'd honestly say it reminded me of Toby McGuire Spider-Man type superhero flicks but with updated effects and budget."

Conor McGregor's new look sparks concern among fans for UFC star

McGregor has not fought since his loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021, but has been training consistently over the past few months amid talk of a potential return to the cage Conor McGregor has sparked worry amongst supporters after flaunting a rather bizarre new haircut on social media. ‌ The former dual-weight UFC champion has not fought since his defeat to long-time rival Dustin Poirier in 2021. He was scheduled to stage a spectacular comeback against former Bellator world champion Michael Chandler last year, but withdrew from the contest after picking up an injury in training. ‌ While the Irishman has voiced his eagerness to return to the UFC, nothing has been confirmed officially as yet. The 37-year-old has been maintaining consistent training over recent months amid speculation of a potential octagon return. ‌ The 'Notorious' recently posted on social media once more, though not to display his punishing workout routine, but to unveil his latest trim. McGregor appeared to opt for the Chuck Liddell look as he is now sporting a mohawk. Several fans rushed to the comments section - with the UFC faithful left stunned by the Irishman's hairstyle selection, reports All Out Fighting. One supporter posted on X - previously Twitter - writing: "Just looking worse and worse everyday," whilst another remarked: "Dude is so done." A third user stated: "Something's wrong with McGregor." Another responded: "I can't look at him in the eyes anymore." One fan remarked: "I think the old Conor would be disgusted with who he is today," while another responded: "Yup, we've officially lost him." A seventh user posted: "He's never coming back." Fans were quick to compare his new look to that of Yondu Udonta - a character from Guardians of the Galaxy. Despite his unusual haircut, McGregor is preparing for a potential return to the cage soon and is scheduled to meet with UFC boss Dana White. It's been some time since they had formal discussions, but plans are in place for a meeting. Both will be in Italy in the next few days, planning a brief meeting where McGregor's comeback could be the main topic. White recently celebrated his 56th birthday. Given McGregor's close ties with the UFC chief, the Irishman sent the American a batch of his new cigars, set to be distributed worldwide in the coming weeks. Last week, White shared a video on his Instagram story of him holding the gift, writing: "Thank you @thenotoriousmma." He also hinted at something else, adding: "See you in Italy," suggesting that talks might be imminent. When is Conor McGregor's next fight? Recently, US President Donald Trump announced his plans to host a historic UFC event at the White House next year. Following this announcement, numerous fighters expressed their eagerness to participate in the historic card, including McGregor. The 37-year-old took to social media and posted: "Happy 4th of July, USA. Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House! I would be honoured! Count me in! !" UFC boss Dana White also appears to support the idea after McGregor shared a conversation with him. The Irishman sent the UFC chief several voice notes, seemingly related to the proposed White House event, to which White responded: "I love it!". McGregor later reiterated his comments during a recent BKFC event, stating: "It's looking like I'm headed to the Oval Office again. That's where I'm headed next." White recently suggested that the 'Notorious' could fight alongside former heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who has just come out of retirement. "McGregor has gotten himself to a point where he is and will be, whether he stops fighting or not, one of the biggest superstars in sports, period. He's gotten to a level of success in his life where he has to, I think, be motivated by something," White said on the Full Send podcast.

Sky offers free upgrades to Glass Air TVs but only until this week's deadline

Sky is giving away an upgrade to Sky Glass shoppers that saves more than £70, but the deadline to claim it is fast approaching. Sky is enticing Brits to upgrade their smart TVs by offering a free upgrade on its new Sky Glass device. For a limited time, anyone ordering the 43" Sky Glass Air will receive a free upgrade with 12 months of Ultra HD channels at no extra cost. Typically costing an extra £6 per month, this free bonus delivers a crisper, more vibrant and higher quality image, along with immersive Dolby Atmos sound, across selected Sky Entertainment, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports channels. The deal provides a £72 saving compared to the regular price, but it's only available for a short time, as customers must claim the deal by Wednesday, July 30, to benefit from the free boost. The Sky Glass Air was first launched in June as a budget-friendly and slimmer version of the Sky Glass Gen 2. For those unfamiliar with the Glass range, the device is Sky's own-brand smart TV that includes Sky channels and streaming apps built in, eliminating the need for a satellite dish or even a Sky box. Prices begin at £6 per month for the Sky Glass Air, less than half that of the £14 Gen 2. Despite its lower price tag, the Glass Air still features a 4K HDR Quantum Dot screen and Dolby Audio speaker system, with other notable features including hands-free voice control, intelligent and personalised recommendations, and a straightforward plug-in-and-play setup, reports the Express. It's important to note that the £6 monthly fee covers only the television itself and must be combined with a Sky TV and Netflix package. These start from £15 per month for the Essential TV bundle, which offers more than 100 channels, including Sky Atlantic, as well as Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions. There's also the choice to add more than 35 additional channels, such as Sky Documentaries, Sky Comedy and National Geographic, with the £22 Ultimate TV bundle. Choosing this package along with the 43" Sky Glass Air results in a total monthly cost of £28, plus a one-off upfront charge of £20 to get everything set up. Buyers should also consider the duration of the plan; the Sky Glass Air element run for 48 months, while the TV and Netflix package is significantly shorter at 24 months. The TV is available in three colour options: Carbon Grey, Cotton White or Sea Green. However, there are numerous other alternatives for those who prefer to pay in full, including Amazon's 20% discount on the 43" Samsung Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV. This top-selling Samsung TV on the site has been marked down from £299 to £239 – a saving of £60. Meanwhile, Virgin Media's Summer of Sports sale has resulted in price reductions of up to £336 on its TV, Sky Sports and fibre broadband packages. The largest saving is on the Biggest Combo bundle, which includes eight Sky Sports channels, over 200 regular channels, Sky Cinema, Netflix, and 516Mbps broadband. However, for those who have chosen to stick with Sky Glass, there have been some glowing reviews on the Sky Community forum. One user said: "I can't fault it. It was very easy to assemble, and account syncing to my Glass downstairs was straightforward. "The 55" TV is still a heavy piece of equipment compared to the numerous Samsung TVs I've had. Picture settings on auto seem suffice at this stage and the sound initially is totally different from the Glass downstairs – the speakers are at the back so it just projects differently, not in a bad way I might add. Speech is clear and it's certainly loud enough." Another said: "This is a great TV that's perfect for the average TV viewer considering subscribing to Sky whilst seeking a good audio-visual experience at an affordable price. It's good as a standalone TV and works equally well for those who have already invested in a decent audio system." However, the same user also noted it may not be for everyone, adding: "It's perfectly suitable for casual gamers, although hardcore gamers would likely want to look elsewhere for a proper gaming TV to connect their gaming console to."
