Control room set up in Haj House for pilgrims' convenience
Hyderabad: To ensure round-the-clock communication with Haj pilgrims and State Haj inspectors and to facilitate their convenience, a dedicated control room has been established at the Telangana State Haj Committee office.
The control room was formally inaugurated by Maulana Syed Shah Khusro Pasha, Chairman of the Telangana State Haj Committee.
On this occasion, Khusro Pasha stated that the Control Room will operate 24 hours and has been divided into three shifts of eight hours each, with three staff members per shift to ensure continuous support and communication.
He further informed that although the control room was officially inaugurated now, it has been operational since May 28, coinciding with the departure of the last and 30th batch of Haj pilgrims. The staff has been in constant contact with pilgrims and State Haj inspectors, regularly checking on their well-being.
Khusro Pasha added that the Haj rituals are scheduled to begin on June 3, and the control room will continue functioning until July 9, ensuring smooth coordination until the safe return of all pilgrims.

Bakrid celebrated with congregational prayers, distribution of meat in Tiruchi
Muslims in Tiruchi celebrated Id-ul-Azha (Bakrid) with great fervour on Saturday with congregational prayers and the distribution of sacrificial meat among family, friends, and the needy forming a major part of the festivities. Congregational prayers were held in mosques and open grounds across the city early in the morning. A large number of men, women, and children participated in the prayers at the ground near Uzhavar Sandhai in Tennur, besides other venues. Sales of sacrificial livestock remained brisk despite the rise in prices this year. The qurbani (sacrifice) ritual took place after the Id prayer, which signifies the end of the Haj pilgrimage. Many residents opted to have the animals sacrificed at the butcher shops to save time. Families gathered for celebratory banquets with caterers called in to prepare large quantities of biryani rice and other delicacies as accompaniments. Id-ul-Azha emphasises the importance of sharing and empathy for the less privileged, said the religious leaders.

Trust in Divine Will
Id-ul-Azha is the id (festival) of sacrifice that symbolises commitment to obey Allah's orders in all circumstances of life. This was exemplified in Muslims through the tribulations faced by Prophet Ibrahim, who endured it all with his unwavering belief in Divine Will. According to the holy Koran, one such trial came as a commandment to sacrifice his first-born child, Ismail, blessed by the Almighty, when Ibrahim was in his 80s. A young Ismail obliged to the wishes of his father and willingly offered himself to God, and as Ibrahim readied his blade standing atop Mount Arafat, where Prophet Muhammad would deliver his final sermon centuries later, the heavens held their breath. Muslims believe a miracle occurred when God, moved by their act of obedience, replaced Ismail with a sheep — a moment now symbolised through qurbani, where livestock are offered in remembrance and a portion of the meat is shared with the needy. The Haj pilgrimage culminates with the special prayer on the day of Id-ul-Azha. A series of rites performed during this close to a week-long religious peregrination mirror the incidents in the life of Prophet Ibrahim and his family. One of these rites, sa'i, which involves walking seven times between the points of Safa and Marwa within Mecca's Grand Mosque, is deeply intertwined with the story of Haajar, the devoted wife of Prophet Ibrahim, and her search for water amid trying times. It is said that God directed Ibrahim to part ways with his wife and their baby Ismail in the middle of the Meccan desert. In here lay another trial for the family. 'If it was God's command, he would not abandon us,' she said. The small bag of dates and a few ounces of water skin in her possession soon dried out. In desperation, Haajar ran back and forth between the small hills of Safa and Marwa looking for water until the angel Jibril (Gabriel) descended and struck the earth, whereupon the blessed spring of ZamZam bust forth, its waters flowing in grace unto this very day. Islamic tradition says when water started to appear near baby Ismail's feet, Haajar rushed to contain it, fearing it would run dry. She supposedly cried out, 'Zam, zam!' thought to mean 'Stop! Stop!' IUML enlists Panakkad family support for Shoukath's campaign
In a bid to quell criticism that the Panakkad Syed Shihab Thangal family was keeping their distance from Aryadan Shoukath over his past remarks against them, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has enlisted the family's support to campaign for the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate in Nilambur. IUML district president Syed Abbasali Shihab Thangal, the youngest brother of the late Syed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal and current party supremo Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal, campaigned for Mr. Shoukath in Nilambur on Tuesday. Criticism had emerged from certain quarters about the absence of any Panakkad Syed family member at the UDF's inaugural convention in Nilambur on Monday, in which most top leaders of the front had attended. Despite prominent IUML leaders like P.K. Kunhalikutty, P.V. Abdul Wahab, M.K. Muneer, M.P. Abdussamad Samadani, P.M.A. Salam, and K.P.A. Majeed attending the convention, the absence of any Thangal sparked a debate among UDF critics. Panakkad family's seniormost member and IUML State President Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal is presently in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, as part of a special delegation for Haj pilgrimage. 'When I visited Panakkad, Thangal called me from Makkah and wished me luck, assuring me of his prayers for my victory,' said Mr. Shoukath. Mr. Abbasali took part in a rally at Munderi in Pothukal panchayat along with Mr. Shoukath and other IUML leaders such as P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP, and P.K. Basheer, MLA. Addressing the rally, Mr. Abbasali said that the voters of Nilambur were being given a golden chance to reject the Left Democratic Front (LDF)'s alleged misrule in the State. Forecasting a landmark win for the UDF candidate, Mr. Abbasali assured that he would stand firmly behind Mr. Shoukath until the election's culmination. 'Even CPI(M) supporters will switch sides to vote for Mr. Shoukath, reflecting the people's desire for a change,' he said. Apart from Mr. Wahab and Mr. Basheer, Congress State working president A.P. Anil Kumar, MA, P.C. Vishnunath, MLA, Shafi Parambil, MP, M. Vincent, MLA, Anvar Sadath, MLA, Rahul Mamkootathil, MLA, Muslim Youth League general secretary P.K.
