Which Nebraska football coach played a major role in a future quarterback's commitment?

Yahoo20-05-2025

Class of 2027 Nebraska football quarterback commit Trae Taylor revealed which coach made the biggest impact on his decision to commit to the Cornhuskers. He credited quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas as a major influence on his decision.
Taylor is the third overall quarterback in the 2027 class and the third overall player in his class from the state of Illinois, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Last season, he threw for 3,061 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, per statistics from MaxPreps. He also carried the football 41 times for 342 yards and four touchdowns.

On Monday morning, Taylor clarified what Thomas did to make such an impact on the recruiting trail.
"Only handful of Coaches taught me during my process. @_CoachGThomas (Glenn Thomas) teaching style and the fact that he has coached in the league for so long means a lot to me."
Several teams, including the LSU Tigers and hometown Illinois Fighting Illini, made a push for the quarterback towards the end of his recruiting process. Nevertheless, Thomas's approach helped to seal the deal.
Now, it will be up to the Huskers to keep the quarterback committed until 2027. That can be a difficult task in today's college football world, but Thomas should help make that process run smoother.

Highly Touted Playmaker Sends Clear Message on Tennessee Football

Highly Touted Playmaker Sends Clear Message on Tennessee Football originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tennessee Volunteers have made the running game a significant priority under head coach Josh Heupel over the last few years. That is likely to remain the case going forward. Advertisement So naturally, the Volunteers are already targeting the top in-state running back in the 2027 recruiting class. Four-star running back David Gabriel Georges has his eyes on Tennessee as well. Georges was back in Knoxville, Tennessee again in early June and raved about how well his visit went. "It was great as always," Georges told On3's Steve Wiltfong on June 5. "I've been up there a couple times now. I'm familiar with the place and coaching staff. It's always a good vibe. "The Vols look like they are building something special, and they see me as a key contributor. That is pretty cool." Advertisement Furthermore, Georges is the No. 4 running back and 43rd-ranked player in the class. The Volunteers have been hosting 2027 recruits in recent weeks. Many of the program's top 2027 targets were in Knoxville over the first few days of June. Tennesse has yet to land a commitment in the future class. For 2026, the Volunteers have eight verbal commits but none of them are running backs. Tennessee signed two running backs in the 2025 class -- three-star players Daune Morris and Justin Baker. The Volunteers also landed running back transfer Star Thomas from the Duke Blue Devils. Texas A&M will retain key assistant on HC Bucky McMillan's 2025 staff

Texas A&M will retain key assistant on HC Bucky McMillan's 2025 staff Bucky McMillan has officially retained Assistant Director of Operations Shane Sinon per release. Served as Buzz Williams' assistant, and did a lot of the day-to-day tasks for the head coach as well as assistant in traveling and inventory for the Aggies. — Jaxson Callaway (AT) (@AggiesToday) June 9, 2025 New Texas A&M basketball head coach Bucky McMillan has assembled his 2025 coaching staff this offseason, adding five veteran coaches, led by Mitch Cole, Kyle Keller, and TJ Cleveland, who all bring a blend of experience and recruiting expertise to the 2025 roster. While most of the former head coach Buzz Williams' 2024 coaching staff is expected to join Maryland, one key assistant will reportedly stay in College Station under McMillan. According to Texas A&M's media team, Shane Sinon, one of the lesser-known names on the coaching staff, who served as a graduate assistant under Williams last season, will now serve as McMillan's Assistant Director of Operations. According to Jaxson Callaway (AggiesToday), Sinon served as Buzz Williams' day-to-day assistant, also assisting in traveling and inventory for the program last season. Sinon appears to be a rising star in the coaching ranks and will serve under current Director of Operations Warren Fitzpatrick, assisting with team operations that include recruiting, finances, and media-based situations. This will likely finish out Texas A&M's 2025 basketball staff, which Bucky McMillan will rely on during his inaugural season and beyond. Again, while Sinon is now a well-known name, it's the lesser-known assistants who are putting in the work behind the scenes. Oklahoma Sooners earn commitment from 2026 3-star DE Matthew Nelson

Oklahoma Sooners earn commitment from 2026 3-star DE Matthew Nelson The Oklahoma Sooners added another intriguing defensive prospect in the 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of defensive end Matthew Nelson. Nelson is the eighth player committed to the Sooners 2026 class and the fourth player on the defensive side of the ball. Just a few weeks ago, Brent Venables and the Sooners didn't have a player committed on defense. Venables and Jim Nagy have the ball rolling. Nelson received his Oklahoma offer back at the beginning of May, and not long after that, the Bryant, Arkansas product picked up offers from Mississippi State and Missouri. But the Sooners made a strong first impression and had him on campus this past weekend for his official visit. Despite an official visit with Tulane coming next week, he's pulled the trigger on committing to the Oklahoma Sooners. "After long and careful consideration, I'm officially shutting down my recruiting process," Nelson said on social media. "I have been blessed to be able to experience it, and I wouldn't want it to be any other way. Go Sooners!! He's the second defensive line prospect added to the class, joining four-star defensive tackle Brian Harris. After flying under the radar through his junior year, Nelson's recruitment began to heat up, and he's now considered a three-star prospect, according to Rivals. Nelson's length and his athleticism really stand out on tape. He displays fantastic effort working to the ball carrier even when the play runs away from him. Nelson displays great discipline, setting the edge. He plays with good power, showing the ability to pull offensive tackles off balance to get around them and to the quarterback. Nelson's quick off the line of scrimmage and plays with good leverage. He'll need to continue to add mass, but he has the frame to be able to bulk up and keep his athleticism and quickness. However, the Oklahoma Sooners added a good player in Matthew Nelson. More: Oklahoma Sooners 2026 recruiting commitment tracker Matthew Nelson's Highlights Watch Matthew Nelson's highlights on Hudl.
