Pakistan, Bahrain agree to deepen security ties
This was the result of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's in-depth talks which he held with his Bahraini counterpart, General Sheikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, in Manama.
During the meeting both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
Earlier, Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Bahrain's capital Manama on one-day official visit, where he was warmly received by Bahrain's Interior Minister General Sheikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa at the airport. A guard of honour was presented to him on his arrival at the Bahrain Interior Ministry headquarters, 'Manama Fort'.
Bahraini entrepreneurs invited to invest in Pakistan
Later, he minister held in-depth talks with his Bahraini counterpart and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, both dignitaries vowed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on security matters. They also laid their focus on bilateral cooperation while dealing with issues of terrorism, human smuggling and narcotics. They also agreed to make more effective the joint security committee to address regional and international challenges.
While praising the cooperation and coordination on bilateral security and other sectors, Bahrain's Interior Minister said the Pakistani minister's visit will further bolster the bilateral relations and security ties.
However, Naqvi said that both countries should undertake joint measures to curb human and narcotics smuggling. He invited his Bahraini counterpart to visit Pakistan.
Later, Mohsin Naqvi wrote down his comments in a book kept at Bahrain's interior ministry.—Agencies

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed heartfelt satisfaction over the successful completion of hands-on training by the first batch of around 300 Pakistani agriculture graduates in China in important areas of water saving irrigation, seed production, animal husbandry, agriculture production and prevention of post-harvest losses. Besides Beijing, he visited the cities of Xi'an and Shenzhen as well. The prime minister met President Xi Jinping and held delegation-level talks with Premier Li Qiang. He also held meetings with Chairman Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji and heads of key government departments. An important aspect of the prime minister's visit was meetings with corporate executives of leading Chinese companies dealing in oil and gas, energy, ICT, and emerging technologies. In Shenzhen, he addressed the China- Pakistan Business Forum with leading businesspersons, entrepreneurs, and investors from both countries. He also visited Economic and Agricultural Zones in China.

Pakistan ready to diversify exports to match UK industry needs: Jam Kamal
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan expressed Pakistan's readiness to diversify its export basket in alignment with the UK's industrial needs. He said this during his meeting with the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. The minister acknowledged the growing trade volumes with the Midlands, and underlined Pakistan's evolving strengths beyond traditional sectors, including in processed foods, fisheries, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, IT services, furniture, ceramics, and sports goods, said a statement by the ministry. He also encouraged businesses in Birmingham to explore high-quality Pakistani products such as Basmati rice, mangoes, and halal-certified processed foods. 'In particular, he spotlighted Pakistan as a reliable partner for Birmingham's advanced manufacturing and automotive supply chains — citing cost-effective production capabilities, expertise in light engineering and metal fabrication, and Pakistan's strong track record in supplying global automotive brands.' The Minister also underscored opportunities under Pakistan's National EV Policy and renewable energy shift, especially in areas such as battery technology and electric drivetrains, which directly align with Birmingham's green mobility ambitions. The press release said that the minister visited 'Nouvo' a major UK-based food distribution company, and also the Birmingham City Football Club. His discussions at Nouvo focused on strengthening commercial supply chains and expanding the footprint of halal-certified and ethnic food products from Pakistan in the British market. 'These engagements underscore Pakistan's renewed emphasis on industrial linkages, regional value chains, and diaspora-led commercial diplomacy, reflecting a strong intent to position Pakistan as a value-added trade partner to the UK.'

PM Shehbaz orders expansion of national shipping fleet
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday directed authorities to increase the number of ships in the national maritime fleet to reduce freight-related forex outflows. PM Shehbaz made these remarks while chairing a review meeting on reforms in Pakistan's shipping sector and the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC). The prime minister said a plan should be formulated to encourage private sector investment in Pakistan's shipping sector. 'Measures should be taken to restructure the PNSC along corporate lines,' he added. During the meeting, the prime minister remarked that the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Uzbekistan railway line is set to mark the beginning of a new era of trade in the region. PM orders comprehensive overhaul of PNSC 'Goods from Central Asia will be transported across the globe via Pakistani ports.' PM Shehbaz stated that the improvement of the railway and shipping sectors is of vital importance for transit trade. The transportation of cargo through Pakistani shipping lines presents a unique opportunity for the country to earn valuable foreign exchange, he said. He also instructed the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the PNSC to undertake comprehensive reforms and present a sustainable business model for the sector. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, and other senior officials concerned.
