Nebraska athletic director Troy Dannen discusses changes to Memorial Stadium end zones
Nebraska athletic director Troy Dannen recently spoke to the Huskers Radio Network about the installation of red end zones at Memorial Stadium. On Wednesday, he posted pictures of the end zones on social media. Dannen shared his thoughts on the changes while speaking to the Huskers Radio Network.
"The field looks good. Everyone has been thrilled with it. There are a lot of field design experts on my Twitter telling me what it should or shouldn't be. Getting those red end zones, for every one person that tells me they like it, the next person tells me they don't. We've all been after getting a little more red inside the facility."
Dannen was able to showcase several aerial shots of the improved field. Since becoming the athletic director at Nebraska, Dannen has been vocal in his belief that the university underutilizes the color red.
"We underutilized red a lot and I don't understand it. We don't light the stadium up from the outside and we should light it red every night. Red is an intimidating color and we should use it a lot more than we use it. I've told the Governor that the road signs, exits off of I-80 should be in red. Not in green. Not in blue, but in red. Little things like that and how we brand ourselves. Having those red end zones and I think it's a strong color. When we put the black letters in the end zone, I think it's a strong look."
Nebraska will open Memorial Stadium in 2025 on Sept. 6 when the Cornhuskers host Akron in Lincoln.

Auburn football lands commitment from three-star 2026 athlete

Auburn football lands commitment from three-star 2026 athlete After a going through a commitment drought, Auburn landed a quality back from Mississippi on Monday. It has been over two months since Auburn football has landed a commitment for its 2026 recruiting class. That changed Monday as a three-star athlete from Mississippi announced his pledge to Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers. Eric Perry, a three-star athlete from Desoto Central High School in Southaven, Mississippi, made the announcement Monday after taking an official visit to the Plains over the weekend. Perry has received offers from Jackson State, North Alabama, and Sacremento State, among others. However, he could not turn down an offer from the program the caliber of Auburn, and jumped at the first opportunity. "I just wanted to play at the highest level in the SEC," Perry said in an interview with Auburn Undercover. "I really didn't want to play anywhere else. They had reached out to me and I was real excited because my cousin played at Mississippi State and so to me, that was the standard for where I had to be. It was really the first time I came here." Perry is an elite talent with the skill set to play multiple positions. He plays quarterback for Desoto Central, however, Auburn plans to use him as a running back. The 6-0, 195-pound speedster has rushed for 1600 yards and 18 scores over the last two seasons as a quarterback, while passing for 2,832 yards and 19 touchdowns in that same time frame. Perry is the No. 35 player from Mississippi according to 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2026 cycle, and is the No. 87 overall athlete from the class. He is the eighth player to commit to Auburn's 2026 class, and is the first running back to do so. WATCH: Former Ohio State player throws out first pitch at Detroit Tigers game

Now that the NFL draft is over and the first-timers that were selected have gone through rookie minicamp, the entire rosters of NFL teams can get on with the status quo of starting to get other camping opportunities underway, all leading up to fall camp and the start of the season. Former Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams was one of the 14 Ohio State football players taken in this year's draft, and he landed in an uncomfortable spot if you will, up in Michigan with the Detroit Lions when they selected him with the No. 28 pick in the first round. He isn't the first -- nor will he be the last -- former Buckeye to play his professional ball at TSUN (Chris Spielman anyone), but he'll have to make a good impression or perhaps face the wrath of those who loved to root against him in college. Advertisement One way to do that is to make the rounds in the community, and Williams was doing just that over this past weekend by not only attending a Detroit Tigers baseball game but by throwing out the first pitch. It wasn't a seed thrown to the plate, but rather a smooth and soft delivery that at least won't get any viral moments, though it was a bit high. If you haven't seen Williams' first pitch against the Cubs on Sunday, get a look here thanks to the Detroit Tigers' "X" (formerly Twitter) account. There are several former Buckeyes getting comfortable in their new environments and cities in the NFL, and as more of these moments are made available, we'll continue to bring them to you.
