YRF hits pause on ‘Tiger vs Pathaan' as spy universe shifts focus to ‘Dhoom 4'
According to a report by Peepingmoon, Chopra believes the franchise is at risk of becoming formulaic. 'Aditya believes the spy universe films are veering towards repetition and needs a revitalised approach to storytelling and presentation,' the outlet reported. The goal, it said, is to rework the creative strategy to avoid 'formula fatigue' and keep the audience engaged with fresh ideas and innovative storytelling.
This development follows rumours of Tiger vs Pathaan being shelved altogether, although no official confirmation has come from YRF.
At the same time, Chopra appears to be shifting focus toward other big-ticket projects. News18 previously reported that YRF is now prioritising Dhoom 4, with Ranbir Kapoor set to headline the reboot. Chopra is said to be heavily involved in shaping the story alongside writer Shridhar Raghavan. Sources say the character is being tailored to Kapoor's screen persona and the film will be stylistically distinct from previous spy universe titles.
Ayan Mukerji is reportedly in talks to direct Dhoom 4, which could begin production by April 2026.
Meanwhile, the YRF Spy Universe continues to expand. War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, is slated for release on August 14, 2025. Roshan reprises his role as Kabir, while Jr NTR makes his Bollywood debut. Following that is Alpha, headlined by Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Bobby Deol, set to hit cinemas on December 25, 2025.
