Man spent 13 years on the run after stabbing his new wife while she still wore wedding dress

Daily Mirror27-07-2025
Arnoldo Jimenez, 43, spent over a decade on the run, and became one of the FBI's 'Most Wanted Fugitives' after stabbing his bride Estrella Carrera on their wedding day - while she was still wearing her bridal gown
Many women believe that their wedding day will be one of the happiest of their lives - but for 26-year-old Estrella Carrera, it was the day hers was brutally cut short.

She was discovered two days later in her dry bathtub, still wearing the silver, sequinned cocktail dress she had worn for her wedding ceremony, having been stabbed to death.

Something was off even before Estrella Carrera and her on-and-off-again boyfriend, Arnoldo Jimenez, then 30, decided on the spur of the moment to tie the knot.

Estrella told only her father the day before she was due to get married, but no other family members knew that she was about to make such a major life decision until the day itself, when they were invited to a party to celebrate the couple's marriage.
Her cousins told the Chicago Tribune at the time: "This just happened out of nowhere. It was so fast I couldn't even make to the celebration."

Another cousin added that Estrella "didn't want to tell me she had gotten married. She didn't tell anybody besides her father the day before".
Arnoldo and Estrella shared one child, a little boy who was two when they tied the knot in 2012, and she had a daughter from a previous relationship as well, who was nine years old at the time.
He was alleged by Estrella's family to be "very possessive" and to become easily jealous, and her sister Jazmine claimed he had previously been violent with Estrella - leading them to disapprove of the romance.

Their turbulent relationship had lasted about three years when they decided, seemingly at the last moment, to get married. After the ceremony on 11 May at Chicago City Hall, the couple invited their family and pals to join them for a celebratory dinner, before splurging on a limousine to travel to a nightclub in the North Side.
The couple left at about 4am to go home - and Estrella was never seen alive again.

Driving in Arnoldo's black 2006 Maserati, the couple is thought to have got into a serious argument. Arnoldo is alleged to have stabbed Estrella multiple times before dragging her inside her apartment and dumping her body in the bath.
Eventually, Estrella's family became worried, with the new bride failing to come to collect her two young children, who had been staying with them. Initially, they are said to have gone to straight to Estrella's home, but had no answer.
They then called the authorities and asked police to conduct a wellness check, which saw Estrella's body finally discovered in her home at 3.30pm on 13 May - which had no sign of forced entry.

Arnoldo is reported to have called his sister crying the night that he killed Estrella, saying that he - who stands at 6 feet tall and weighed 220lbs - had left his new wife bleeding, after a "bad fight".
Arnoldo's brother, Humberto Jimenez, was under investigation for drug dealing at the time of Estrella's murder, so federal agents had been listening in on his phone calls. Humberto was heard, the day that his new sister-in-law's body was found, telling someone "there's been an emergency" and referring to a "huge problem" - per the Chicago Tribune.

Not only that, but during a search of his home related to drug dealing, Arnoldo's luxury car was found partially hidden - though it showed signs someone had attempted to clean it and cover up evidence, there was still a "plethora" of material for the investigators to use in their case against Arnoldo.
Despite discovering the car, Arnoldo himself was nowhere to be found. With his parents living in Mexico, it was long suspected that he had fled Illinois and gone there to hide from the consequences of his actions.
However, it would be nearly 13 years before he was ever captured. Arnoldo spent over a decade on the run before being arrested in Monterrey, Mexico on January 30 2025.
He has been charged with first-degree murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, and he has been held in custody in Mexico until he is extradited back to the US.
Arnoldo made the 'Most Wanted' list in 2019, and there was a £250,000 award on his head

Ex-Trump investigator Robert Mueller discovered in memory-care facility as Republicans demand his Epstein testimony

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller, the man who led the Russia investigation into President Donald Trump, has reportedly lived in a memory-care facility for years. Muller, 80, served as the sixth director of the FBI from 2001 until 2013 and the special counsel overseeing the federal government's multi-year investigation into Russia's ties to the 2016 Trump campaign. The probe found that neither Trump nor members of his campaign team coordinated with the Russians on their interference. It did not conclude whether Trump obstructed the investigation, citing DOJ policy not to indict sitting presidents. Mueller's investigation dominated years of news coverage, and Trump frequently lashed out at the special counsel and his efforts, repeatedly labeling the effort as a 'witch hunt' and 'Russia hoax.' Now, just a few years after the bombshell report was released, Mueller is spending time in a memory-care unit, sources familiar with the matter told Real Clear Investigations. 'Sources tell me Mueller has been living in a memory-care facility for the past few years,' reporter Paul Sperry wrote on X Tuesday. The news comes as Mueller is scheduled to sit with the House Oversight Committee investigators regarding the FBI's work relating to Jeffrey Epstein next month. Mueller testified before lawmakers in July 2019 to speak about his investigation. He frequently had to consult his notes during the session The committee is seeking information Mueller may know about Epstein from overseeing the FBI during the pedophile's 2005 Florida prostitution case, a matter in which the FBI eventually intervened. Many critics have said Epstein's sentence in that case was too lenient. The Daily Mail reached out to a former Mueller spokesman for a statement. And one former lawmaker is now saying the signs of Mueller's decline have been evident for years. 'It was clear this is where things were heading when we questioned him before Congress,' ex-Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., posted on social media. 'Mueller was used by some very vicious people,' Gaetz, now a conservative TV host, continued. 'I'm not sure he really ever knew what was happening in the investigation.' Mueller testified before Congress about his report's findings in the summer of 2019. During that hearing, the former special counsel struggled at times to remember the questions from lawmakers, often asking them to repeat their inquiries. He also appeared flustered at times when trying to remember key portions of his probe. During his testimony, he forgot that Fusion GPS, an opposition research firm, was behind the infamous Steele Dossier - a file that alleged false ties between Trump and the Russians that many presume was the origin of the Trump-Russia allegations. A spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee did not respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment on whether they sent Mueller's subpoena to a memory-care unit. Still, the committee's chairman, James Comer, R-Ky., says he is expecting Mueller to show up and talk. Comer posted on his X on Tuesday that Mueller is scheduled to appear for a transcribed interview with the committee on September 2. Other top Trump and Obama administration officials will also testify in the committee's probe into Epstein. Bill and Hillary Clinton are both scheduled to sit with the committee in October. Former Attorneys General Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Merrick Garland and Trump's former DOJ boss Bill Barr are also expected to talk to the lawmakers. It's a spectacular move by Republicans to pressure Trump's Attorney General Pam Bondi to put out more documents related to the disgraced financier while the administration has been embroiled in controversy over 'cover-up' claims. Bondi has been blamed by both Democrats and Republicans for stalling the release of the files. The Trump administration has since hurried to find out more about the Epstein scandal. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has met with Epstein's accomplice and longtime partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, to speak about what she knows about the late pedophile's crimes. Blanche spent several days in Florida at the detention facility where Maxwell was staying to interview the woman who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking crimes. She has repeatedly claimed she was treated wrongly during her trial, a claim that will soon be argued before the Supreme Court.

EastEnders' Joel branded a ‘disgusting little pervert' as Ross makes a discovery

Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) has finally flipped over Joel's (Max Murray) disgusting behaviour in EastEnders. It became immediately clear when the father and son arrived in Walford alongside Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) earlier this year that they were hiding a fair few skeletons in their closet. They couldn't return to their home in Australia, as Joel had upskirted a pupil in his class, and Ross had paid her family $50,000 in exchange for their silence. He's since enacted havoc on the residents of Albert Square, impregnating Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) and introducing new mate Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to dangerous adult content online. Later, Joel showed Tommy videos made by a disgusting influencer, who degrades women. Joel thought this was an appropriate way to talk about the opposite sex, branding his own mum a 'slapper', talking about how she abandoned him as a child. He also sexually assaulted a passenger on the London Underground in an utterly vile move, with Vicki paying off the victim. Earlier this week, Joel discovered some big news about his estranged mother Cleo, that left him reeling. Other than Joel's derogatory comments about his mum, we don't know an awful lot about her. She contacted Ross to inform him that she was remarrying, and despite us finally finding out her name, fans are still convinced that she is none other than Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), using a pseudonym. This was fuelled by him yelling: 'Well, you ain't my mum, you don't get to tell me what to do!' during a row with Vicki, which seemed to echo a very famous 'Enders quote. As long-term fans will remember, back in 2005, Zoe screamed: 'You can't tell me what to do, you ain't my mother!', as her mum Kat (Jessie Wallace) howled back: 'Yes I am!' Joel's version coincidentally aired in the same week that Zoe returned after 20 years. Well, rather unsurprisingly, he hasn't taken it well. As we saw, he headed to The Vic to catch up with Tommy – and suggested they make things more exciting by stealing some booze from the barrel store. It didn't take long for the lads to be discovered, and Ross dragged Joel home. As he was being carted out of the pub he spurted a number of derogatory and extremely concerning comments about Kat. Back at home, Ross made another worrying discovery… In tonight's episode, Ross attempted to worm his way into Joel's mindset and learn the extent of his issues. Joel told his dad that as a man he has no rights, and continued to tear strips off Kat. Ross was at a loose end with what to say, and suggested they have a beer together and a heart to heart. Sitting down, Joel opened his laptop and played a video from the influencer he's a fan of. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Ross compared the comments to something a comedian would say on TV in the 80s – laden with sexism and misogyny. However, when alone, Ross was startled by the extend the uploader went with this vile words. With Joel out of the room, Ross then spied an email that contained a video of a girl assaulted. To make matters worse, he then found countless other clips of girls being upskirted and voyeurism. More Trending Furious, he charged into the kitchen with the laptop and drenched it under the sink, revolted at what his son was capable of. As he branded him a 'revolting, arrogant, disgusting little pervert', Joel pleaded for forgiveness. But Ross wasn't in the forgiving mood, telling him that not only does he need help, but it's clear there's something wrong with him. View More » What will Joel's next move be?
