Travis Scott' act cost Coachella a fine of $20,000 as his set breaks curfew rules

Time of India29-04-2025

Travis Scott
closed out Coachella's Saturday night set on April 12; however, his performance came at a cost. Apart from the artist fee, the organisers had to pay a fine of $20,000 since Scott extended his performance by three minutes.

The extension of his performance exceeded the city administration-imposed 1 am curfew. The event organiser
Goldenvoice
must pay the fine, which stems from a 2013 agreement with the
City of Indio
. This agreement, as per media reports, enforces the strict curfew limits on festival nights—1 am on Fridays & Saturdays, and midnight on Sundays.
As per a Billboard report, Scott was supposed to begin his set at 11.40 pm but delays pushed his start time. This ultimately led to him finishing his performance only three minutes later than intended. A similar delay happened on the second weekend, but the rapper finished his set before the curfew to avoid the penalties.

Only curfew violation this season
The City of Indio issued a statement on the incident involving Travis Scott. They said that the three-minute overshoot was the only curfew breach across Coachella's two weekends and the Stagecoach country music festival, which concluded on April 27, 2025.
Reportedly, the agreement with the city stipulates an immediate $20,000 fine for any performance which goes up to five minutes past curfew. Beyond that, the organisers have to pay an additional $1,000 per minute.

Goldenvoice is no stranger to penalties
This is not the first time that Goldenvoice has been penalised for long performances. In 2009, a 54-minute overrun on a Paul McCartney set cost the organiser $54,000, stated another report.
In 2023, several curfew violations through both weekends of Coachella—including sets by Bad Bunny, Frank Ocean, and Lana Del Rey—cost over $168,000 in fines. Interestingly, in 2021, BottleRock Napa Valley shut off power during a song to enforce its curfew.
Goldenvoice, though, prefers to take the fines instead of interrupting headliner performances, as some other festivals have done in a more hardline fashion.

"I think I've done enough": Director Ridley Scott on his return to 'Alien' franchise

Filmmaker Ridley Scott, who is best known for directing the 'Alien', was amazed at how far the franchise came after it was joined by several directors, including James Cameron and David Fincher. Filmmaker Ridley Scott , who is best known for directing the 'Alien', was amazed at how far the franchise came after several directors, including James Cameron and David Fincher, joined it. Despite the enormous success, the director believes that he has done "enough" for the franchise, signalling no potential return to the 'Alien' franchise, reported Variety. In an interview with ScreenRant, as quoted by Variety, the actor said that "I've done enough" when it comes to the "Alien" franchise, which he started 46 years ago. Scott produced last year's well-reviewed 'Alien: Romulus' movie, and is currently serving as an executive producer on Noah Hawley's upcoming FX series 'Alien: Earth.' But it appears Scott's days of directing "Alien" projects are over. As he summed up: "Where it's going now, I think I've done enough, and I just hope it goes further," quoted Variety. While sharing his views on the 'Alien' franchise, the director said there was a time when he thought the series was as good as dead. Scott directed 1979's 'Alien' before handing the franchise to James Cameron for 1986's 'Aliens.' The series then took stumbles with divisive entries from the likes of David Fincher ("Alien 3") and Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("Alien Resurrection"). "I think I felt it was deadened after 4. I think mine was pretty damn good, and I think Jim's was good, and I have to say the rest were not very good. And I thought, 'F***, that's the end of a franchise which should be as important as bloody 'Star Trek' or 'Star Wars,' which I think is phenomenal. At least, I think the first one by George is seminal. It was as seminal as '2001.' To me, it was that important in terms of film language and where you go next," said Ridley Scott as quoted by Variety. After directing 'Alien', the director returned to direct 'Prometheus', which marked his return to the franchise. "A number of years after, I said, 'I'm going to resurrect this,' [and wrote] 'Prometheus' from scratch - a blank sheet of paper. Damon Lindelof and I sat then hammered out 'Prometheus,'" Scott said of reviving the franchise in 2012 after a 15-year hiatus as quoted by Variety. He continued, "It was very present and very welcome. The audience really wanted more. I said, 'It needs to fly.' No one was coming for it, [and] I went once again [and made] 'Alien: Covenant,' and it worked too. Where it's going now, I think I've done enough, and I just hope it goes further," as quoted by Variety. As per the outlet, next up for the 'Alien' franchise is the debut of 'Alien Earth' on August 12 and an undated film sequel to 'Alien: Romulus' that will likely feature the return of director Fede Alvarez . Goldberg is ready to give one last show to his fans before WWE retirement

Goldberg (Image via WWE) Once one of the biggest in-ring names in the WCW, Goldberg joined WWE a few years into the transition after his contract with AOL Time Warner expired. He then went on a break for a few years before returning to the WWE stage in 2016. But at 58 years of age, he is not what he once was, and it's starting to slow him down a little. This is why he is now getting ready for his last match in the squared circle, preparing for his retirement from WWE. Goldberg talks WWE retirement and the toll it is taking on his body Goldberg wants his retirement match to be a once-in-a-lifetime thing and, thus, is preparing heavily for it. He said that he knows when his last match is going to be, but getting ready for it has not been easy. Heavy training has taken its toll and injuries have been popping up one after the other. Appearing on CarCast , the WWE veteran said that he has injured himself multiple times while getting fight-ready for the finale. "I know the date (of my retirement match). No one else knows the date public-wise… I hurt myself a couple times in the past three months. But I pulled back... I've got a very high bar to set that I set for myself and 99 times out of a hundred, it's unrealistic… I've been in the ring a couple times. I'm gonna get in the ring again today and it's just tough, man. It is tough.' Goldberg said that he knows it is unrealistic, especially at this age, to think that his body can handle the pressure that he is putting it in. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo But at the same time, he wants to do the best he can in what would be his goodbye to something he has loved for so long. There have been some rumors that he could be at the Saturday Night Main Event in Atlanta in July, which could serve as his retirement stage, but it's been speculation as of now. Goldberg is ready to give his all one last time Goldberg is ready to put in his everything, even if it means a couple of injuries on the way. From Muay Thai to some really intense workout sessions, the WWE Hall of Famer is not pulling any stops. He has blown his shoulders and bicep and pulled his hamstring, all while trying to throw a high kick. But none of that is going to stop him. 'I'm not just showing up to show up. I need to show up and be me… That was the first day that I felt really good.' He knows what's at stake, and is not going to let his fans down at any cost, even if it means sporting a couple of injuries and whatnot. Fans will definitely be waiting to learn more about his retirement match, while Goldberg gets ready for one last fight. Who is Steve Jobs' daughter Eve getting married to? Meet the Olympic groom and the A-lister guests expected

Love, lineage, and luxury are all set to collide in what promises to be the most talked-about wedding of the season. Daughter of Steve Jobs, Eve, an Apple heiress, runway star, and equestrian talent, is reportedly tying the knot with British Olympic showjumper Harry Charles this August, in the heart of the picturesque Cotswolds. With its storybook charm, royal ties, and A-list neighbours, the countryside setting is the perfect stage for a union that blends Silicon Valley legacy with equestrian prestige. Venue of the wedding The venue? According to the Daily Mail Report, the venue is none other than the celebrity-favourite Cotswolds—known for its scenic English charm and A-list residents with properties there like the Beckhams and Ellen DeGeneres. Set against rolling green hills and historic estates, this countryside wedding promises elegance, opulence, and a guest list that rivals any red carpet event. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Guest list Names like Princess Beatrice- a member of the British Royal Family and niece of King Charles III, former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris , and the daughters of Bill and Melinda Gates- Jennifer and Phoebe Gates, are all reportedly on the invite list. And while Eve's siblings Reed and Erin Jobs are expected to attend, it's unclear whether her half-sister Lisa Brennan-Jobs will be part of the ceremony. About Eve Jobs and Harry Charles They may come from vastly different worlds, one a Silicon Valley heiress, the other born into British equestrian royalty, but together, Eve Jobs and Harry Charles are the definition of modern-day aristocracy with flair. At 26, Eve Jobs isn't just the youngest daughter of the iconic Steve Jobs, she's a force of her own. A Stanford grad with a passion for horses and haute couture, Eve has gracefully leapt from elite showjumping circuits to high fashion catwalks. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, with campaigns for Louis Vuitton and appearances on Paris runways, she's rewriting what it means to be a tech heiress in the age of Instagram. Her fiancé, 25-year-old Harry Charles, is a gold-medalist Olympian who made headlines at the 2024 Paris Games for competing and winning with a fractured arm. Harry isn't just talented, he's tenacious. Riding high on his family's legacy (his father Peter Charles helped secure Britain's first team jumping gold in six decades), Harry has earned his own spotlight. The couple made their debut as a duo at the Paris Olympics, turning heads not just for their athletic prowess but for their effortless chemistry. A shared love for horses quickly turned into something deeper, and soon after, an engagement that's now leading to what insiders are calling the 'wedding of the year.'
