Anwar receives 13th Malaysia Plan document ahead of tabling in Dewan Rakyat
Anwar said the handover marked the conclusion of the preparatory phase for the national five-year development plan, covering the period from 2026 to 2030.
"The preparation of the 13MP involved extensive engagement sessions with a broad range of stakeholders across various sectors, backgrounds, and regions, including state governments, to ensure that the voices of the people are genuinely reflected in the nation's future planning.
"The 13MP has been formulated as a comprehensive development plan with a focus on uplifting the dignity of all Malaysians in a just and equitable manner, leaving no group behind.
"Insya-Allah, I will table the 13MP motion in the Dewan Rakyat tomorrow," he said in a Facebook post.
Anwar added that the Madani government welcomed constructive debate and input from all Members of Parliament to further strengthen the policies and strategic direction outlined in the 13MP.
On June 13, Anwar had said the 13MP would mark a turning point in the nation's efforts to address various economic challenges, including development and income disparities.
He said that pressing challenges included development and income inequality, limited fiscal space, and the slow pace of structural economic transition.
He added that Malaysia must become more resilient in facing global economic risks and uncertainties, while accelerating structural transformation and narrowing socio-economic development gaps.

RGT3 to be built in Lumut, says Saarani
IPOH: The country's third regasification terminal (RGT3) will be constructed in Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC), says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. The Perak Mentri Besar stated that the project is expected to begin in LuMIC 2, one of seven key industrial zones there. "We believe it will start early next year. They need about 3,000 skilled workers in welding, and we are trying to find them," he said. It is believed that the capacity of RGT3 will be similar to the two existing RGTs in Sungai Udang, Melaka, and Pengerang, Johor. Saarani said the state could not provide further information about the project, as it falls under Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), which needs to announce it in Bursa Malaysia first. "As to how much the investment will be, it will be announced by them (Petronas) and we thank them (for investing in Perak). "Our aim is to prepare as many jobs as we can in the state," he said, adding that the project could be a catalyst for growth in Lumut. Regarding the 13MP, Saarani expressed hope that more initiatives planned under the Perak Sejahtera 2030 development plan would be included. "We hope the Federal Government can continue to support the state, making Perak prosper, which would then benefit the people," he added.

2026 Budget to support 13th Malaysia Plan goals

Higher retirement age should target specific sectors, says economist
KUALA LUMPUR: The proposal to increase the retirement age to 65 should apply only to sectors relying on expertise and intellectual skills, says economist Dr Ahmed Razman Abdul Latiff. The Putra Business School academic cautioned against blanket implementation, noting physically demanding jobs may strain older workers. 'Education, administration, or consultancy roles suit extended retirement due to their reliance on experience,' he told Bernama. He contrasted this with labour-intensive sectors where prolonged employment may prove impractical. Chief Secretary Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar recently confirmed a study is underway to review raising civil servants' retirement age. The proposal remains in early stages, requiring thorough analysis before approval. Ahmed Razman highlighted EPF data showing most private-sector workers lack adequate retirement savings. He urged a holistic approach, combining policy changes with social protection enhancements and wakaf asset utilisation. The time bank concept, he added, could let younger individuals earn care credits for later life.
