Lauren Sanchez pens heartfelt message to pal Katy Perry one month after Orlando Bloom split
has posted an emotional message to her good friend Katy Perry. Sanchez took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday to congratulate Perry on a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden, which she played on August 11, and share her heartbreak over missing the monumental concert. She reposted a segment about Perry that aired on CBS Mornings, which shared a recap of the evening, and, of course, mentioned that Perry's fellow Blue Origin astronaut and journalist Gayle King was there for the sold-out show. 'So sad I missed it... but see you soon @katyperry,' Sanchez wrote in white text over the top of the clip. It's unclear whether or not Sanchez will be attending another one of Perry's shows, but she's set to take the stage in Miami, where Sanchez and her husband Jeff Bezos reside, on August 23. The two appear to be extremely close friends, as Perry was a part of Blue Origin's first all-female flight alongside Sanchez and King. The women, along with civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, ventured to space together in April. However, Perry did not attend Sanchez's over-the-top Venetian wedding to Bezos in June, though her recent ex, Orlando Bloom, did. Bloom was even seen with a mystery lady during the luxurious event; soon after, they confirmed their split. During the wedding, Perry, who was across the globe in Australia due to her tour, took to Instagram to share a series of snaps of herself with her arm wrapped around a quokka in a photo dump that she captioned: 'mood: Quokka.' Quick to share a sweet message of support at the time, Sanchez commented: 'We miss you Katy,' with a heart. And it looks like the newlywed isn't a stranger to expressing her feelings on Instagram. On Monday, Sanchez said that she was feeling 'heartbroken' but 'proud' as she marked an emotional milestone dropping her son Evan Whitesell at The University of Miami for his first year of college. She took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of Evan putting together a piece of furniture in his dorm. 'Dropped off Evan at college today. 18 years of early mornings, late night snacks and family dinners... and then there he was building his own dorm cabinet,' Sanchez wrote on top of the photo. 'A small thing but in that moment I saw the start of his next chapter. Proud. Heartbroken. Grateful,' she concluded. She also shared a photo of Evan when he was just a few years old to her Instagram Stories later that evening. Sanchez shares son Evan with her ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell. She also shares 17-year-old daughter Ella with Patrick, as well as son Nikko Gonzalez, 24, with ex Tony Gonzalez. Last year, Sanchez revealed that Whitesell had been accepted to The University of Miami and would be studying business there.

Christine Baranski launches stinging attack on Gayle King and Katy Perry over Jeff Bezos-funded 'space ride'
Christine Baranski took aim at Gayle King and Katy Perry over their Jeff Bezos-funded trip to space as she sneered at modern corruption. The Mamma Mia star, 73, addressed the widely-mocked Blue Origin trip to space while speaking on a panel on Monday about her hit HBO show, The Gilded Age. The actress was making a point about how The Gilded Age gives viewers a glimpse into the huge gap between the nation's wealthiest and poorest. 'The grotesque displays of wealth sending women into a spaceship for what? so they can do their makeup? What the f**k?' Baranski said of the all-female flight into orbit, which also included Bezos' wife Lauren Sanchez. 'Don't get me started,' Baranski added, exasperated. The Blue Origin crew was criticized for their flight into orbit, which did not have a scientific purpose. Gaye King and CBS were also slammed for the gushing and glossy coverage on the network, as it was unclear who - if anyone - footed the bill for the expedition. Non-celebrities face a $300,000 fare to make the same trip. Bezos got huge exposure for his fledgling space exploration company and was seen opening the capsule door to welcome his friends back to Earth. Breathtaking footage showed King and other celebrities including Sanchez and Perry screaming while weightless and peering into the vast emptiness of space. The flight itself lasted just 11 minutes, but there was plenty of build-up to blast-off and excitement after the A-List crew touched back down in West Texas, with CBS alumnus Oprah Winfrey among those waiting to greet the crew. King responded to critics who called the trip a 'space ride ', saying it was sexist to describe it in such a way. 'They call it a ride, which I find very irritating because they never say men went for a ride,' King, 70, said. Responding to accusations that the suborbital flight had no real scientific purpose, King spoke with fellow crewmate, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe on CBS Mornings. 'There's so many things that have been developed in space that benefit Earth... from pharmaceuticals to, like, research on agriculture,' Bowe said. 'And, you know, I paused there because we did research and it was emotional... Part of what I accomplished in my flight was I was looking at the future of being able to produce crops that can withstand harsh environments so we can look at food security here on Earth, and simultaneously, we also were able to certify that device so more people could do research on New Shepard.' It is unclear what specific research Bowe conducted, but footage of the flight showed the all-female crew floating, marveling at the view, and holding personal items. Bowe held a small Bahamas flag and pop star Katy Perry carried a daisy and a list of the setlist of her upcoming tour while shrieking the lyrics to Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World'. King insisted the flight was significant, saying 'you have never said to a [male] astronaut, "What a ride." [Don't] call it a ride.' She added: 'It's called a flight or a journey. A ride implies it's something frivolous or light hearted. There's nothing frivolous about what we did.'
