Revanth to tap Amit Shah for central funds for city projects
Hyderabad: Continuing his tirade against Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday wondered what he (Kishan Reddy) had achieved for Hyderabad and what was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's contribution for the city's development.
A day ahead of Union Minister Amit Shah's visit to Hyderabad on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that the state government would urge Shah to give his nod for Metro expansion and support RRR (Regional Ring Road) and Musi Riverfront projects.
Speaking after inaugurating the 1.2-km PJR flyover at Gachibowli that was constructed at a cost of Rs 182.72 crore, Revanth Reddy regretted that none of the eight BJP MPs from Telangana had secured central funds for various developmental projects taken up in the state.
'Kishan Reddy should tell us if he has brought anything from Modi? Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, both ruled by Opposition parties, were given Metro. Andhra Pradesh has also benefitted. Bullet train was given to Gujarat at a cost of Rs two lakh crore. The central government's funds were give Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat, Yamuna Riverfront in Delhi and Ganga Riverfront in Uttar Pradesh. But why this step-motherly attitude towards our Musi Riverfront, Metro Rail and RRR projects?' he scorned.
He wanted to know if the BJP felt that Telangana's demands were not legitimate or if there were any defects in the reports and proposals presented by the state government. Over the issue of Kancha Gachibowli lands, the Chief Minister reiterated that the state government was committed to development and would continue the legal fight till it reached its logical end.
'We are taking steps forward by dividing Telangana into Core Urban Region, Semi Urban Region, Rural Telangana. Delhi is in an uninhabitable condition due to pollution. Chennai is facing flood problems, while Bangalore is struggling with traffic woes. We should learn lessons from Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. Don't forgive those who obstruct government programmes under the guise of politics. We tried to bring IT companies to Gachibowli and provide employment to lakhs of people, but they obstructed our plans. We will fight a legal battle over Gachibowli lands and provide employment to millions,' he reiterated. Reminding the services of Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy, Chief Minister directed officials to undertake a feasibility study for a statue near Gachibowli. 'Similar to Mammohan Singh's upcoming statue in the Financial District, we will have one of PJR,' he said. On the proposed delimitation, Revanth Reddy said that constituencies like Serilingampally may be divided into four segments. He urged the local MLA Arikepudi Gandhi to ensure Congress wins in all these constituencies, just like the feat achieved by PJR during whose time Khairatabad was divided into several constituencies and despite all that Congress achieved good results across segments. Highlighting the issue of pollution, the Chief Minister said that the government was encouraging Electric Vehicles (EV) in the city by way of tax exemptions. Citing the example of N-Convention Centre, he said that actor Nagarjuna had voluntarily given up two acres of land, while contributing for the development of the city. He said that this was possible only because of HYDRAA.
He also said that Bathukamma Kunta's encroachment was removed after several decades and this time Bathukamma could be celebrated on that very restored land.

The Congress party wants the people to forget about the 1975 Emergency and is misleading the people by saying that the nation is facing an undeclared emergency now, Union Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said here on Sunday. Mr. Joshi was addressing a seminar organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here as part of a nationwide campaign organised in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Emergency. 'After such a long gap, they want the people to forget about the Emergency. But in the interests of democracy and the country, the people should not be allowed to forget it,' he said. According to him, the credit for putting up a strong fight against the Emergency went to the Jan Sangh, RSS and the ABVP. The Communist parties did not put up a fight. Neither the Congress nor the Congress has shown 'an iota' of respect to B.R. Ambedkar, who chaired the committee that drafted the Constitution. The BJP campaign is designed to make the people more vigilant and to make sure that the Constitution is not tampered with again, Mr. Joshi said. Mr. Joshi also sought to counter Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's remark that V.D. Savarkar was responsible for the Lok Sabha poll defeat of B.R. Ambedkar. Jawaharlal Nehru had visited the constituency twice to campaign for Narayan Sadoba Kajrolkar, who defeated Ambedkar, he said. BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, senior BJP leaders V. Muraleedharan and P.K. Krishnadas, Minority Morcha national vice president Abdul Salam were among those present. Mr. Joshi also released the book 'Emergency Diaries - Years that Forged a Leader ' at the function by handing over a copy to Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

1 2 Patna: Senior Congress functionary and former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijaya Singh on Sunday criticised the Election Commission (EC) for initiating a special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar without consulting political parties. He alleged the move was politically motivated and warned that the opposition might take legal action if their concerns were ignored. Speaking to reporters in Patna, Singh said, "Normally, the EC presents such proposals at an all-party meeting before proceeding, but in this case, there was no consultation. I have never seen anything like this in my 50-year political career." He questioned how the EC planned to complete such a large-scale exercise within 30 days during the monsoon. "This is impractical," Singh said. He alleged that the revision was intended to delete names of the poor, labourers, farmers and marginalised communities from the rolls. "Yah jyadati hai… we strongly oppose it," he added, describing the move as a "gross injustice" to the people of Bihar. Delhi: 45-point action plan to rejuvenate Yamuna River

The comprehensive plan, backed by a budget of Rs 9,000 crore, is targeted for completion by next year, a senior official campaign aims to provide the capital with clean water and a pollution-free Yamuna. Chief Minister Gupta is personally leading the efforts to rejuvenate the river, with close monitoring also being conducted by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and PWD Minister Parvesh budget for the mission is worth Rs 9,000 crore and is targeted for completion by next year, a senior official the Central Government and the Delhi Government are collaborating on a war footing to clean the River Yamuna. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will re-verify a total of 360 small and large drains in the city, and a drone survey will be conducted for 22 major drains falling into the river.A total of 67 locations have been identified for pollution monitoring in the Yamuna River. A survey will be conducted by July and the report will be submitted to the Delhi Jal Delhi government is also installing 32 real-time water Monitoring Stations to clean the river Yamuna.
