McDonald's fans 'wanted to throw up' after trying McSpaghetti
The dish, which is only available in two countries, has been described as 'grim' and 'offensive' - but you can get a McSpaghetti with fries and a drink for less than £2 It is always interesting to see what chain restaurants are like abroad, and we're all susceptible to an airport McDonald's meal before our flight home in the hopes of trying something completely different on the menu. McDonald's meals vary from country to country with some places offering unique dishes, like France with the Croque McDo, and the Netherlands with the McKroket. However, one meal in particular has riled the internet and gone viral for its sheer audacity - the McSpaghetti. The dish is only available in the Philippines and Indonesia and essentially is a small, cardboard container of spaghetti with sweet tomato sauce, sliced hot dogs, and cheese. According to TikTok videos, you can get a McSpaghetti meal with fries and a drink for 152 Philippine pesos, which is the equivalent of about £1.98. You can also get a McSpaghetti Happy Meal for 156 Philippine pesos, one video showed. One TikTok user posted a video of him reviewing the McSpaghetti and he pointed out the size of the container, saying: 'This is only like four bites.' However, he continued on to say of the dish: 'That's not bad, I'm not going to say it's Olive Garden level, but it's not bad … It's not very expensive and it's basically a side portion.' He added: 'It's a pretty good spaghetti, for McDonald's it's pretty good.' Another social media user who tried the McSpaghetti said: 'It's so little, a little baby spaghetti.' She added: 'It's a little bit sweet … it's not terrible but it's not great either.' However, one customer was less than impressed, and said: 'I'm not even joking, they prepared this in about 30 seconds. Why did I buy this?' After trying the pasta, he said: 'Oh mate, this is grim. It's cold … I'm not even going to bother eating the rest of that, it makes me want to throw up.' Someone else agreed, stating that the meal 'offended' them: 'Nonna's rolling in her grave AND her pasta dough. Am I offended? Absolutely. Did I eat it? Also yes.' One Italian customer posted his review of the dish, and simply said: 'I don't know what to say …'. He pulled a face, and confirmed in the comment section that it was not good. A commenter questioned if the dish was 'legal' while another said that they had also tried it and it was the 'worst' spaghetti they had eaten. One TikTok user said 'it's very artificial', while another said the meat it in tasted like 'processed sausages'. Another McDonald's dish which has garnered attention online is the McAloo Tikki and is available in India. Beef isn't served in Indian McDonald's restaurants, so this vegetarian burger features a spiced potato and pea patty with tamarind-style sauce, onions, and tomatoes. Meanwhile, the McKroket in the Netherlands is one of the other more distinctive burgers offered by the fast-food chain. The deep-fried croquette patty is added to a traditional burger bun along with mustard. The Netherlands restaurants offer both a meat and vegetarian option.
